Leonard agreed Tuesday to a five-year, $90 million maximum contract extension with the Spurs, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Leonard has agreed in principle to the contract that represents the maximum the Spurs could offer the restricted free agent. Now Leonard, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, president/coach Gregg Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford will meet with free agent LaMarcus Aldridge on Wednesday morning to pitch the All-Star forward on signing with the Spurs. While Leonard has always been more valuable in real life than in fantasy, he has no weaknesses in his game and there is still plenty of upside going forward.

Leonard is a restricted free agent after the Spurs extended the standard qualifying offer to him on Tuesday, Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders reports.

The Spurs did not extend the maximum qualifying offer to the 23-year-old Leonard because that would make for a hit to their cap that they cannot afford. In extending the standard, San Antonio will have some breathing room as they join the LaMarcus Aldridge sweepstakes this offseason, but they will still definitely take care of Kawhi financially and have him on board before it is all said and done.

Leonard's fourth year in the NBA came to a close with averages of 16.5 points, 1.0 three-pointer, 7.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 2.3 steals in 32 minutes per game through 64 games in 2014-15.

The 23-year-old swingman will be a restricted free agent this offseason, and as the Spurs' old guard of Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker have become more marginalized over the last couple seasons, Leonard has taken on a larger role in tandem with Tim Duncan as the team's leaders. Without Leonard, who dealt with a mid-season injury (hand), the Spurs posted a 9-10 record, struggling to get wins in an uber-competitive Western Conference. With Leonard, the Spurs went 46-17. His career averages of 50 percent shooting from the field, 80 percent shooting from the free-throw line, and 37 percent from three-point range has helped make him one of the top 20 players in the NBA. As the Spurs' big three of Duncan (39), Ginobili (37), and Parker (33) continue to age, Leonard should continue to see his role grow. The biggest bugaboo about Leonard's fantasy value has to do with his inability to stay healthy for an entire season. He has yet to play in more than 66 games in a regular season.

Leonard had a cold shooting night in Game 5's win against the Clippers, going just 5-for-16 for 18 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.

This performance marked one of Leonard's weaker games in the series, but ultimately his contribution was significant enough to help the Spurs take a critical 3-2 series lead. Expect him to bounce back for a better performance in Game 6.

Leonard was held without a steal in Game 4 against the Clippers on Sunday but did have 26 points (10-19 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and a block in 40 minutes.

Leonard was averaging 2.8 steals per game in April prior to the playoffs, and still has a combined eight steals in the first four games of this series. He's dominating on offense, averaging 24.8 points per game and shooting 56.3 percent from three.

Leonard dominated in a blowout Game 3 win against the Clippers, posting 32 points, four rebounds, one assist, three steals, and two blocks in 29 minutes of action.

Leonard celebrated winning the Defensive Player of the Year award by posting a fantastic line Friday to give the Spurs a 2-1 series lead. He should continue to play well moving forward as a strong all-around player for the Spurs.
