Mon Sep 14 201515:51Feldman (shoulder) placed on 60-day DL on Monday
Feldman (shoulder) was placed on the 60-day DL on Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The move was just a procedural one to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, as Feldman had already been ruled out for the remainder of the 2015 season with a strained right shoulder. Matt Duffy will have his contract selected and join the big league club to fill the vacant roster spot.
Fri Sep 11 201513:56Scott Feldman: (Shoulder) Done For Season
Feldman (shoulder) will be shut down for the rest of the 2015 season, the Houston Chronicle reports.
An MRI on Thursday revealed a strained right shoulder, and the Astros will immediately place Feldman on a longer-term rehab play, rather than attempting to get him back on the mound this season. He's without a firm timetable, but the Astros' goal is to have Feldman back at 100 percent for the start of the 2016 campaign. Feldman hasn't pitched since back on Sept. 1 against the Mariners, an outing he departed with discomfort in the shoulder.

Houston Astros pitcher Scott Feldman will be shut down for the rest of the season because of a shoulder injury, according to the Houston Chronicle. An MRI on Thursday revealed a straight right shoulder, and while he is going to be shut down for quite some time, the expectation is that he will be fully healthy before the start of next season.

Feldman returned to Houston on Wednesday night for more tests on his injured shoulder, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Feldman has not made any progress since leaving his Sept. 1 start with the sore shoulder, so he will head back to Houston for further evaluation. Feldman is not expected to rejoin the Angels this weekend, and it remains to be seen when he will be able to do so.

Feldman (shoulder) said Wednesday that he's dealing with rotator cuff inflammation, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports. "Hopefully it's just a couple days off and we'll go from there," Feldman said.
Shoulder discomfort forced Feldman off the hill Tuesday after just 2.2 innings, and the Astros ordered an MRI to gauge the severity of the issue. Fortunately, it sounds like Feldman's shoulder is intact, with the right-hander saying there are "no tears or anything like that." He's hopeful he'll miss just one start.

Feldman took a no decision despite allowing three runs on three hits and five walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out two.
Feldman's night was disastrous, as he barely threw more strikes (44) than balls (41). Feldman had been on fire in August, with four quality starts in four chances, a 1.33 ERA and a 15:5 K:BB in 27 innings. Feldman hadn't walked more than three batters all season entering Tuesday's start, so don't expect this to become a trend.

Feldman (shoulder) will get an MRI Wednesday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
The comments after the game certainly seemed ominous, as manager A.J. Hinch was talking about how tough it is to lose a pitcher who had been pitching well lately. Assuming Feldman misses extended time, and perhaps the rest of the season, Vincent Velasquez would be the obvious internal option to join the rotation, or the Astros could opt to cut back to a five-man rotation going forward.
Tue Sep 1 201521:36Scott Feldman: Leaves With Shoulder Injury
Feldman left Tuesday's game with right shoulder discomfort, the Houston Chronicle's Evan Drellich reports.
He left with two outs in the third inning and was replaced by Vincent Velasquez. Feldman surrendered three runs on three hits and five walks before exiting, so his shoulder issue was likely a contributing factor in his command struggles Tuesday. If Feldman were to miss his next turn in the rotation Velasquez would be an obvious option to get the start, or the Astros could opt to just drop back down to a five-man rotation.

Feldman threw a quality start but left with a no decision Tuesday against Tampa Bay, as he allowed two runs on nine hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out two.
Feldman's control allowed him to scatter nine hits and limit the damage before any rallies could get out of hand. Feldman now has three straight quality starts and his lowered his ERA from 4.58 to 4.05 in that span. Still, Feldman's 4.9 K/9 would be his worst since 2010, and he has struck out more than three batters just five times in 16 starts.

Feldman (5-5) tossed six shutout innings in Wednesday's win over the Giants, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out four.
The veteran's actually been surprisingly decent recently, with three quality starts in his last four outings. He still doesn't miss many bats, so the upside is low, and Feldman is thus best used selectively against bad offenses. Fortunately, he gets the Rays -- the lowest-scoring team in the American League -- his next time out.

Feldman lasted just 5.1 innings Friday, allowing three runs on seven hits. He was fortunate to come away a no-decision as they lost 6-4 to the Diamondbacks in extras.
With the recent additions of Scott Kazmir and Mike Fiers, Feldman could be pitching for his job right now and this mediocre outing certainly won't help his case. While his walk rate is at a career-low of about two per nine, his strikeout rate is also a career-low, as he's only striking out five batters per nine innings. These ratios make Feldman tough to trust, even in NL-only formats. His next start will be another tough one when he pitches against his former team in Texas on Wednesday.

Feldman (4-5) scattered four hits and one earned run over 7.2 innings Saturday, but did not earn a decision.
Feldman bounced back from a rocky game against the Rangers with a commanding performance against Kansas City. His strikeout count remained low, as he fanned just two batters, but Saturday marked the third time this season Feldman has held opponents to one earned run.

Feldman (4-5) allowed four runs on nine hits in Saturday's loss to the Rangers. He walked two and struck out two over 5.2 innings.
Feldman showed some rust in his first start since hitting the DL with a knee injury on May 27 and failed to get out of the sixth inning for just the third time all season. The 32-year-old doesn't strike many guys out (5.35 K/9) and gives up a lot of hits, but he can usually be relied upon to go deep into games thanks to his high groundball rate and lack of walks (2.19 BB/9). Feldman will look to get back on track Friday in Kansas City.
Sat Jul 18 201515:42Feldman (knee) activated from 15-day disabled list
Feldman (knee) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.
Feldman had been penciled in as Saturday's starter since Thursday, and now he has been officially reinstated from the disabled list. He stretched out to 87 pitches in his most recent rehab outing and will take the mound for the Astros on Saturday. Feldman will be facing a left-handed heavy Rangers lineup Saturday in his return to the bump. The Astros designated Alex Presley for assignment in a corresponding move.

Feldman (knee) is listed as the Astros' probable starter for Saturday's game against Texas.
He built his pitch count up to 87 in his second rehab outing with Double-A Corpus Christi last week, tossing five innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts and two walks. Apparently, it was enough to convince the Astros he's good to go following a nearly eight-week stint on the shelf with a knee injury. The right-hander is set to oppose Colby Lewis.

Feldman (knee) could rejoin the Houston rotation immediately after the All-Star break, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
In what was likely his final appearance of the rehab assignment, Feldman threw nearly 90 pitches in Friday's start for Double-A Corpus Christi, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over five innings. He'll likely enter the rotation as the No. 3 or 4 starter after the All-Star break, and his spot should be pretty secure. If the Astros trade for a starting pitcher, Dan Straily will likely be the one dropped from the rotation.

Houston Astros pitcher Scott Feldman is expected to return to the rotation after the All-Star break, according to MLB.com.
Houston Astros pitcher Scott Feldman is expected to return to the rotation after the All-Star break, according to MLB.com. Feldman threw 90 pitches in his final rehab start Friday for Double-A Corpus Christi, and he is likely to slot into the No. 3 or 4 spot in the rotation.

Feldman (knee) made his first rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday, throwing 62 pitches over three innings, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Feldman is scheduled one more rehab start, but he could end up making more as he builds up innings and regains his feel. "He had 60-plus pitches in three innings," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said of the veteran right-hander. "It's not as efficient as he is going to need to be, but for the first time against competition in a couple months, you know, more than anything, it was important for him to just face hitters and get acclimated with competing again." Feldman is not expected to return until after the All-Star break.
Tue Jul 7 201506:42Scott Feldman: (Knee) Throws Three Innings In Rehab
Houston Astros pitcher Scott Feldman made his first rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday while recovering from a torn meniscus in his right knee, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Houston Astros pitcher Scott Feldman made his first rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday while recovering from a torn meniscus in his right knee, according to the Houston Chronicle. Feldman is scheduled for at least one more rehab appearance before being activated from the disabled list, although the team could choose to wait until after the All-Star break and allow him additional time to build up his stamina. “His outing was better the longer it got,” manager A.J. Hinch said. “He was initially a little bit rusty and dancing around the strike zone. He had 60-plus pitches in three innings. It’s not as efficient as he is going to need to be, but for the first time against competition in a couple months, you know, more than anything, it was important for him to just face hitters and get acclimated with competing again.”
