RHP Cody Anderson won a spot in the Indians' season-opening rotation. Indians manager Terry Francona said, "Sending Cody Anderson to Triple-A, I don't think any of us thought was the right thing to do. This kid came up last year and right smack in the middle of the season, not only managed to survive, but helped us to win."

Anderson (7-3) was brilliant on Wednesday, allowing two hits and four walks across seven scoreless innings in a 10-2 win over the Twins. He struck out two.

The youngster has been a big surprise this year, as he has one of the best ERA's in a dominant rotation. His last seven starts have been particularly impressive, as Anderson hasn't allowed more than two runs in any one of them. The thing he needs to work on are the strikeouts, as he has just 44 in 91.1 innings this season. It will be interesting to see if Anderson can crack such a deep rotation next year, but his impressive 3.05 ERA and 1.11 WHIP should bode well for his chances..

Anderson will start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Twins, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

It was first announced that Anderson would simply move back to start Game 1 of the twin bill after Tuesday's game was rained out. However, Cleveland has decided to flip its starters, meaning Anderson is now slated to oppose Mike Pelfrey in Game 2 instead of Kyle Gibson in Game 1.

Anderson will not make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Twins, as the game has been postponed due to rain, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The game has been rescheduled as part of a traditional day/night doubleheader on Wednesday. Anderson has been designated as the Tribe's Game 1 starter, with Carlos Carrasco to follow in the nightcap.

That's four consecutive wins for Anderson. who's back to the Jekyll side of his Jekyll-and-Hyde season, having posted a ridiculous 1.69 ERA over 32 innings spanning five September starts. That 18:10 K:BB is still far from ideal, but you can't argue with the results when the batted-ball luck is going Anderson's way. The 25-year-old will make one more September start Tuesday against these same Twins.

Anderson turned in a quality start Friday night, allowing one run on five hits, he walked five and struck out six over 6.2 innings of a 12-1 win against the White Sox.

Anderson (5-3, 3.48 ERA) has been on a roller coaster this year, getting off to a torrid start, then struggling and spending time on the DL, and pitching reasonably well since his return. He can be too hittable at times, and the five walks weren't too encouraging, so there are chinks in his armor that could be exposed at any time.

Anderson will have his scheduled start Saturday pushed back to Sunday after Saturday's game against the Tigers was rained out, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.

The Indians and Tigers were postponed for a second night in a row, so Anderson will have to wait another day to take the mound. He will face off against the Tigers' Justin Verlander in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday.

Anderson's start Friday was pushed back to Saturday due to a rainout.

Anderson will now receive an extra day of rest before pitching, but it could cause a slight adjustment the next time through the rotation. He'll still face Justin Verlander on Saturday at home.

Anderson (3-3) earned the win Sunday at Detroit, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out three over seven innings.

After being moved up a day in the rotation, Anderson only allowed two runners to reach second base, but each time the threat was wiped out by a double play. Over his last two starts, he's lowered his ERA from 4.30 to 3.72. He'll make his next start Friday against Detroit.

Corey Kluber (hamstring) was scratched from Friday's start so everyone else got moved up. The Indians will operate with a five-man rotation for now, but it could become a six-man rotation once Corey Kluber returns in approximately 10 days.

The 24-year-old right-hander has been simply awful lately following his incredible (and incredibly lucky) first few starts, and his high-contact ways don't figure to yield much better results moving forward.

Anderson (oblique) was officially activated from the 15-day DL on Wednesday, and he'll start against the Brewers.

Anderson will make his first start since August 7 after he was pulled off of a rehab assignment at Class-A Lake County to rejoin the Indians. The right-hander holds a 4.31 ERA and 1.13 WHIP on the season, but he struggled in his last outing, allowing six earned runs on five hits over just 2.2 innings. In one previous start against Milwaukee this season (July 22), Anderson allowed 10 hits and four runs, picking up a no decision in the 7-5 Cleveland victory. He takes the roster spot vacated by Carlos Carrasco, who hit the DL on Tuesday.
