Uehara pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his 12th save of the season in Friday night's win over the Athletics. He allowed two hits and struck out one.
It's been an adventure this week for Uehara, who has two saves, but was also on the mound for two of Boston's most disheartening losses of the season. Despite the recent setbacks, Uehara has been pretty good all season.

Uehara (2-3) couldn't record a single out Thursday, giving up three hits and four runs (two earned) to take the loss against Minnesota.
He got the call in a non-save situation, and the results were far from pretty, though the Boston defense certainly didn't help. He's had a couple rough outings in his last three, so the Sox may want to give the veteran closer a day or two off to feel fresher and get back on the right track. His fantasy owners needn't be concerned, as Uehara's generally been quite sharp this season.

Uehara shook off a blown save Sunday to pitch a scoreless inning and pick up his 11th save of the season in Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Minnesota.
Through all the troubles with Boston's roster so far this season -- inconsistent starting pitching, slumping veterans, a lack of timely hitting -- Uehara has been very good.

Uehara blew a save Sunday, giving up two unearned runs on one hit and an intentional walk in a loss to Texas. It was his second blown save of the season and first since April 25.
You can argue that shoddy defense (Pablo Sandoval error) and a questionable managerial decision (the intentional pass) hurt Uehara, so we're not laying blame solely the closer's door.

Uehara struggled a bit as he gave up one earned run on two hits while striking out one batter on Tuesday. He did just enough to get out of the jam and earn the save. Uehara now holds an ERA of 2.08 and a 0.69 WHIP, and is without a doubt considered one of the better ninth inning guys in the league.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said he wouldn't hesitate to use Uehara on consecutive days, the Providence Journal reports.
Farrell has always been cognizant of Uehara's workload, particularly early in 2015 after the closer opened the season on the disabled list due to a sore hamstring. However, in his most recent outing, Uehara's fastball velocity increased to 88 mph, a sign his arm strength is improving. "He's certainly benefiting by time on the mound in game action and reaching his game speed and intensity more frequently," said Farrell.

Uehara struck out the side to earn his fourth save in Wednesday night's win over Toronto.
For one night, Boston's pitching held up. Rick Porcello threw seven strong innings before Junichi Tazawa and Uehara pitched with a lead. Uehara had a blown save / loss over the weekend and then word got out that he'd lost velocity on his fastball, but assuaged any concerns Wednesday.

The closer has been building up velocity in his heater, which has been in the 86-mph range, but reached 87 on Monday.

Uehara allowed a hit during a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday en route to his second save of the season.

Uehara (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list and will retake his spot as the closer, Sean McAdam of CSN New England reports.
Uehara pitched an inning in a rehab appearance Saturday, allowing three hits and a run. However, it was enough for him to be deemed ready, meaning one of the current bullpen members will likely be sent to Triple-A Pawtucket. Uehara (hamstring) will pitch out of the bullpen for Low-A Greenville on Saturday, and he may then be ready to join the Red Sox, MassLive.com's Jen McCaffrey reports.
Uehara seemingly has a shot to be available for all of next week, and the Red Sox will likely know whether that's the case by the end of this upcoming weekend. It appears Edward Mujica's stint in the closer's role will be rather brief.
