F Matt Barnes was a Hornet this summer for all of 10 days. He came to Charlotte from the LA Clippers along with Hawes in a deal for G Lance Stephenson, then was shipped on to Memphis for G Luke Ridnour. The Hornets then traded Ridnour to Oklahoma City for G Jeremy Lamb.

F Matt Barnes, who has supplanted Zach Randolph as a starter, had 15 points and 10 rebounds - his second double-double for the Grizzlies.

Memphis trailed throughout the second half until Barnes' long 3-pointer."Everybody was calling timeout but me," said the veteran small forward, who had eight points and a season-high 11 rebounds. "I didn't see it or hear it, I just went for it.""I just knew the ball bounced long, almost to the free-throw line, and I knew I was ahead of a lot of people," Barnes said. "I think just (Detroit point guard) Reggie Jackson was ahead of me. I wasn't really sure what the time was but he gave me enough space to get a clean look and I shot it."

F Matt Barnes, who had eight points and six rebounds in the loss while facing his former club for the first time, had bittersweet memories about the Clippers. Barnes collected two points (1-2 FG) and a rebound over seven minutes in Monday's 91-81 victory over the Cavaliers.

The seven minutes of court time represented the least amount of preaseason playing time for Barnes over the first three contests of the 2015 exhibition slate. Barnes turned in a fairly productive 2014-15 campaign for the Clippers, starting 74 games at age 34 while tallying his second-highest three-point shooting percentage (36.2). The veteran small forward presently slots behind starter Jeff Green and defensive stalwart Tony Allen on the Grizzlies' depth chart, and the remainder of the preseason will help clarify his exact role in the 2015-16 campaign.

Barnes was traded to the Grizzlies for Luke Ridnour on Thursday, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Just 10 days ago Barnes was traded to the Hornets, but after acquiring Nicolas Batum from Portland they no longer needed Barnes' services. The Grizzlies plan to hang on to Barnes in the final year of his contract as he adds depth to an uneven group of wing players. That said, he likely won't see near the level of run he was getting last season with the Clippers as Courtney Lee, Tony Allen and Jeff Green will be ahead of him on the depth chart.

In a deal that seemed to materialize quickly Monday evening, Barnes and Hawes will join a Hornets team that failed to meet expectations this season, finishing 11th in a historically weak Eastern Conference. Barnes, who started 74 contests for the Clippers this season, averaged 10.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 29.9 minutes per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from three. While Barnes was an integral part of the team's core, he'll turn 36 midway through next season and is well past his prime, particularly as an offensive player. Wojnarowski reports that the Hornets are not expected to keep Barnes on the roster, offering further credence to the belief that Charlotte was simply desperate to rid itself of Stephenson. Barnes will likely be waived before the end of the month, as his deal is guaranteed for only $1 million if he's waived by July 1.

Barnes recorded 10.1 points (44% FG, 36% 3Pt, 78% FT), 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 30 minutes per game during 76 regular season games in 2014-15.

Barnes belly-flopped in the playoffs, managing only 7.6 points (38% FG, 27% 3Pt, 75% FT), 5.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 29 minutes per game during 14 postseason contests. Barnes' inability to sink his open shots helped the Rockets make an epic comeback in Game 5 versus the Clippers, and it's likely he'll spend the summer working to improve his stroke. Barnes is on the Clippers' books for $3.5 million in 2015-16.

Barnes (ankle) has gone back to the Clippers' locker room but will return to Tuesday's game, ESPN's Arash Markazi reports.

Barnes went back to the locker room to get his anke re-taped during the third quarter of Game 5, but it appears that he'll be able to return to action. He is 0-for-7 from the floor through 18 minutes of action.

Barnes scored 17 points (7-13 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 0-1 FT) with five rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 28 minutes Saturday in Game 7.

Barnes had been a non-factor through the first six games, but came up huge on both ends of the court in Game 7. With the Clippers not trusting their bench, Barnes should continue to play around 30 minutes per game moving forward, and always is a threat to put up decent lines.

Barnes (shoulder) posted seven points, six rebounds, one assist, and two blocks in 28 minutes of action in Game 5 against the Spurs.

Barnes has been dealing with a strained rotator cuff, but ultimately was able to play. He's been pretty solid during the series so far, averaging 5.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.0 threes per game in a limited role. Consider him good to go moving forward.

Barnes (shoulder) will play in Tuesday's Game 5 against San Antonio, Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Barnes strained his right rotator cuff during Sunday's Game 4 win, and he was spotted at practice Monday with an ice pack on the shoulder. Despite the fact that it's likely not 100 percent, Barnes will play Tuesday and should be expected to remain in his usual starting small forward spot.

Barnes (shoulder) is probable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Spurs, Dan Woike of the Orange County Register reports.

Barnes suffered a strained right rotator cuff during Sunday's Game 4 victory, but he isn't expected to miss any time. He's been quiet in the series thus far, averaging 5.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist over 27.8 minutes. He only played 23 and 20 minutes in the last two games, with Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers cutting into Barnes' playing time.

Barnes came away from Game 4 against the Spurs on Sunday with a sore shoulder but expects to be fine moving forward, Arash Markazi of ESPN reports.

Barnes has seen his playing time decrease over the last two games in comparison to the first two of the series, and now it appears that he's having some minor issues with his shoulder. There's not much concern that he'll miss Tuesday's Game 5 but his lack of playing time definitely should draw some red flags for daily competitions.

Barnes is shooting 26.7% from the field (33.3% 3Pt, 25% FT) in two games this postseason.

While the starting small forward continues to struggle, the Clippers do not have many options to turn to other than Barnes. Coach Doc Rivers is playing a short rotation, and the cold-shooting Barnes is still grabbing 34 minutes per game. For those in daily games, Barnes' poor shooting has been somewhat offset by his 7.5 rebounds and 3 steals per game, making him useful as a low-end small forward.

Barnes shot just 4-for-13 from three Sunday in a win over the Celtics, but still finished with 18 points (7-18 FG), seven rebounds, one assist and a block in 33 minutes.

Barnes has scored 11 or more points in four straight games, and heading into Sunday's game, he was shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc this month.

Barnes stuffed the stat sheet Friday against the Sixers, posting 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, four steals, and three treys in 27 minutes of action.

Barnes is averaging 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals, 1.0 blocks, and 2.5 three-pointers made over the last four games. While he doesn't necessarily explode too often, his subtle contribution in all categories makes him a solid low-end player in standard leagues.
