Fri Feb 11 202219:33LeBron James, Russell Westbrook Questionable For Saturday
Los Angeles Lakers small forward/center LeBron James (knee) and point guard Russell Westbrook (back) have been deemed questionable to suit up for Saturday's game against the Warriors. James has picked up right where he left off since returning three contests ago, averaging 28.7 points on 56.9% shooting in that span. It's possible that L.A. gives him a maintenance day, but the combination of the game being on national television and the Lakers having off until Wednesday is a likely indication of where James is leaning. Westbrook missed the team's last game due to a sore lower back, his first absence of the year. He has shot just 27.5 percent overall in his past four outings, a troubling trend for season-long managers that factor in field goal percentage.

Wed Feb 9 202221:29Russell Westbrook Sits Out Wednesday
Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The timing is surely interesting with the trade deadline looming. Westbrook hasn't been thrilled with the Lakers benching him lately and could be headed on his way out. Regardless, LeBron James (knee) will be asked to carry a heavier workload without Westbrook available. Malik Monk will have a higher upside and is worth a look as a streaming option or DFS choice for Wednesday's slate. Talen Horton-Tucker and Austin Reaves should see more minutes as well, but are basically deep league options.

Sun Jan 30 202212:35Russell Westbrook Expected To Play Sunday
Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook (knee) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. He was able to play through the issue during the Lakers last game. Anthony Davis (wrist) is expected to play as well, so Westbrook won't be forced to do everything. However, LeBron James (knee) is out, so both Davis and Westbrook are going to be the primary options for this offense. Westbrook has been playing better recently, so hopefully he can keep it going here. He'll have increased usage while James is out.

Fri Jan 28 202218:16Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook Questionable For Friday
Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis (wrist) and guard Russell Westbrook (knee) are listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. Davis injured his wrist during Thursday's game and briefly checked out of the game. Luckily, he returned and continued to play well, but apparently the wrist issue is still bothering him. Dwight Howard would be asked to start if Davis sits out. However, he's nothing more than a low-end streaming option. Westbrook appears to be dealing with right knee soreness, so we'll see if he plays or is limited at all. LeBron James (knee) normally would see a spike in usage, but is questionable as well. Austin Reaves and Talen Horton-Tucker could see increased playmaking abilities if Westbrook is out. Horton-Tucker is looking like a strong streaming choice with the Lakers banged up. However, fantasy managers should check back before game-time to see the final decision on Davis and Westbrook.

Sat Jan 1 202208:18Russell Westbrook Rolls To A 15-13-12 Line
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook notched a fourth consecutive triple-double in Friday's blowout win over Portland, picking up 15 points with 13 rebounds and 12 assists. He tallied two steals as well while shooting 5-for-10 from the field and 5-for-6 at the foul line. Scoring-wise, Westbrook will get an ugly matchup next against Minnesota, but he should dominate in Tuesday's clash with the Kings. Sacramento owns the worst defensive record in the league against opposing point guards, and they give up plenty of assists to the position as well.

Thu Dec 30 202109:00Russell Westbrook Gets His Third Consecutive Triple-Double
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook found a way to post a third consecutive triple-double despite the team suffering another loss on Wednesday against Memphis. He notched 16 points on 7-for-16 shooting and added 10 rebounds and 12 assists with five turnovers in 40 minutes. Russ boasts a league-high eight triple-doubles for the season but five of them have come in losing efforts. Friday's meeting with Portland looks like a great spot on paper to keep up the triple-double streak, but Westbrook had a horrible 1-for-13 shooting night when these teams met up for the first time this season.

Fri Dec 24 202110:07Russell Westbrook Notches 30 Points Against Spurs
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook collected 30 points on 12-for-20 shooting in Thursday's loss to San Antonio, hitting 1-for-2 from downtown and 5-for-9 at the line. He pulled down seven rebounds and recorded one steal while delivering four assists with five turnovers. The Spurs have an elite backcourt defender in Dejounte Murray, but point guards have enjoyed the matchup throughout the season and Westbrook didn't let a good opportunity slip away. Christmas Day matchup against Brooklyn is another good one for him, and Russ should start off next week with a pair of big games as well, with the Lakers visiting Houston and Memphis.

Wed Dec 22 202109:34Russell Westbrook Logs A 20-10-5 Line
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook performed well in Tuesday's loss to the Suns, picking up 20 points with 10 rebounds and five assists. He shot 10-for-20 from the field and added three steals on the defensive end, although fantasy managers could've done without his seven turnovers. Westbrook is averaging below 17 points for the month, but he's gone for 20-plus points in three of the last four games, showing good signs of improvement. With that said, the Lakers will still need a lot more from him during a stretch without Anthony Davis (knee). With matchups against San Antonio and Brooklyn coming up, Westbrook will face two teams that tend to give up a lot of points to opposing point guards, so we should see some fireworks from him this week.

Fri Dec 17 202117:08Russell Westbrook Clears Protocols, Will Play Friday
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrookhas tested out of the league's health and safety protocols in time to suit up for Friday's contest against the Timberwolves. The move is the latest in a whirlwind of testing around the league, with Westbrook ultimately not missing any time after entering the protocols. His inclusion vs. Minnesota will be key with Avery Bradley, Talen Horton-Tuckerand Malik Monk all still in the aforementioned protocols. Working against Westbrook is that Minnesota's defense against opposing point guards this season has been surprisingly stout, even as they play at the league's fourth-fastest pace.

Thu Dec 16 202119:23Russell Westbrook Enters League's COVID-19 Protocols
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook will not play Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves after entering the league's health and safety protocols. It's yet another blow to the league and the Lakers, who have won three straight. Avery Bradley has also entered protocols, so Los Angeles has signed free-agent Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract. Thomas could make an immediate impact for the short-handed Lakers, while LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be asked to do more of the heavy lifting.

Thu Dec 16 202109:06Russell Westbrook Misses Sixth Triple-Double By One Assist
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook flirted with a triple-double in Wednesday's dramatic win over Dallas, completing his night at the office with a 23-10-9 line. He had four turnovers in 42 minutes and shot 8-for-18 from the field with a 1-for-4 effort from behind the arc. Westbrook has struggled to make an impact in recent games, but this performance should give him plenty of momentum. Next up, he faces a battle against his old enemy Patrick Beverley and the Timberwolves. Minnesota hasn't been too kind to opposing point guards this season, but Russ had a decent showing against them in this season's first head-to-head meeting, scoring 20 points on 63 percent shooting and adding five rebounds and three assists.

Wed Dec 8 202109:03Russell Westbrook Puts Together His 12th Double-Double
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook returned to the double-double column in Tuesday's win over Boston, scoring 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting and handing out 11 assists with four turnovers. He was 1-for-4 with the three-ball and had three rebounds and one steal in 36 minutes. Westbrook has done some very efficient scoring in recent games, but he now faces a tricky matchup against the Grizzlies, who have limited opposing point guards to 42.7 percent shooting. He shot just 33.3 percent and had 13 points in this season's first meeting with Memphis.

Wed Dec 1 202109:17Russell Westbrook Contributes 23 Points In Tuesday's Win
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook had a 23-point night in Tuesday's win over Sacramento, shooting 9-for-21 from the field and 1-for-5 from outside with a 4-for-7 mark at the foul line. He handed out six assists with four turnovers and grabbed six rebounds and one steal in 35 minutes on the court. Westbrook got back to inefficient scoring here, but he still did enough to put a decent fantasy line together. LeBron James was scratched for the game and looks set to miss some time again while in the league's health and safety protocols, so we can expect Westbrook to play a very prominent role in the upcoming games.

Mon Nov 29 202108:40Russell Westbrook Keeps Up His Good Scoring Form
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook has scored very efficiently in recent outings and Sunday was no different, as the former MVP produced 25 points on 10-for-16 shooting in a home win against the Pistons. He was 1-for-3 with the three-ball and shot 4-for-8 at the line, dishing out nine assists with three turnovers and recording six rebounds and one steal. Russ has now shot 55 percent or better in three of his last four outings. He'll be in another nice scoring spot on Tuesday against the Kings, who give up the second-most points in the league to opposing point guards.

Wed Nov 24 202108:29Russell Westbrook Bags A 30-Point Triple-Double
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook battled his way to a 30-point triple-double on Tuesday against the Knicks, bagging a game-high 31 points on 10-for-18 shooting with 13 rebounds and 10 assists. He finished 3-for-6 from behind the arc and shot 8-for-9 at the charity stripe while adding two steals and six turnovers to his stat line in 37 minutes. LeBron James missed the game with a suspension and Russ has more freedom to maneuver without the King on the court, which helps him to play to his strengths. LeBron will be back next game against Indiana, but Westbrook should be set for a nice week, as there are matchups against Sacramento and Detroit coming up. These two are among the worst defensive teams in the league, and the Kings even have the second-worst defensive record against opposing point guards.

Sun Nov 14 202122:31Russell Westbrook Has A Double-Double Sunday
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook secured his seventh double-double performance of the season during a 114-106 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. The dynamic guard scored 14 points while chipping in with 11 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals across 34 minutes. The nine-time All-Star shot 5-for-11 from the field, including 3-for-5 from three-range, and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line. Westbrook also committed seven turnovers, continuing his reign as the league leader in the category with over five per game this season. While the production isn't remotely near his prime numbers, Westbrook still contributes terrific counting stats for a guard and holds strong value in core categories.

Thu Nov 11 202114:01Russell Westbrook Has Another Triple-Double Wednesday
Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook notched his second straight triple-double in Wednesday's win over the Heat. Westbrook was coming off of a couple of rough shooting performances, so it was nice to see him connect on 10 of 22 field-goal attempts while shooting 3 of 7 from downtown. The star guard's 15 combined turnovers in the last two games aren't ideal, but he's been instrumental in two overtime wins for the Lakers- as evidenced by his per-game averages of 21 points, 14 assists, 12 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per contest. Westbrook should continue to see increased usage for as long as LeBron James (abdominal) is sidelined.

Sun Nov 7 202110:02Russell Westbrook Struggles With Shot In Saturday's Loss
Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook struggled mightily with his shot in Saturday's loss to Portland. With LeBron James (abdominal strain) ruled out and Anthony Davis (stomach illness) exiting early, Westbrook saw most of the usage, though he struggled to produce, shooting just 1-for-13. The talented guard did somewhat salvage his night with nine rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a triple- but fantasy managers will want to see better shooting out of him moving forward. Westbrook should be well-positioned for a bounce-back performance on Monday against Charlotte in a battle of two of the fastest-paced teams in the league.

Fri Nov 5 202108:04Russell Westbrook Pours In 27 Points In Thursday's Loss
Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook stepped up with LeBron James (abdominal) out once again, pouring in 27 points in Thursday's loss to Oklahoma City. Westbrook led the team in shot attempts with 23 and was efficient as he made 10 of them, adding three of six shooting from three while draining all four free-throws. The star guard could see an enormous workload on offense with James out for the next week and Anthony Davis (thumb) also banged up. Westbrook has averaged 15.6 shot attempts per game this season with James in the lineup, compared to 22.7 per contest when he's out. He'll be a strong start in all formats this week.

Wed Nov 3 202109:01Russell Westbrook Records 27-9-7 Line Against Houston
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook came through with 27 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in Tuesday's 119-117 win over Houston. He added one steal and three turnovers to his line in 37 minutes, while going a decent 10-for-21 from the field but a horrible 0-for-4 from downtown. He made up for his ugly three-point shooting with a 7-for-8 effort at the charity stripe. Westbrook looked out of place in L.A. during his first couple of outings, but the Big Three with him, Anthony Davis and LeBron James has started to gel together and they seem stronger with each outing. The trio combined for 84 points on Tuesday. The Lakers are going to be back in action Thursday night when Westbrook gets to see another former team in the Thunder. He's averaged an outstanding 26-10-11 line against OKC in six meetings since leaving the team.
