Thu Jul 28 202210:38RJ Barrett Not A Target For The Jazz
New York Knicks forward RJ Barrett has been brought up as a potential piece in a trade that would send star Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell to the Big Apple. However, the Knicks have stated that they are not interested in dealing Barrett at this time, and now we have a new report suggesting that the Jazz wouldn't even be targeting Barrett in a deal. During his "Please Don't Aggregate This" podcast this week, Jake Fischer stated that the Jazz aren't interested in acquiring Barrett, mostly due to the fact that they don't want to be responsible for his next contract. Barrett is locked up for about $11 million this year, then he has a qualifying offer for $14 million in 2023-24. After that, he's set to be a restricted free agent and there's a good chance he'll be due for a big payday.

Wed Jul 13 202214:46Knicks Not Interested In Trading RJ Barrett
According to Ian Begley of SNY, sources who are close to the New York Knicks have reported that the team has no interest in trading RJ Barrett. The 22-year-old's name has come up recently as a potential piece in a deal that would land the team star Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell. However, based on Begley's report, it seems unlikely that Barrett would be included in such a deal. The former Duke Blue Devil is coming off of a strong third year in the NBA. Although his field goal percentage dipped from 44.1% in 2020-21 to 40.8% last year, he averaged a career-high 20.0 points per game in 2021-22.

Sat Apr 9 202210:16RJ Barrett Exits Early Friday, Will Miss Season Finale On Sunday
New York Knicks small forward RJ Barrett (knee) saw his 2021-22 campaign come to a close after sustaining a sprained right knee during Friday's win against Washington. Barrett logged just 15 minutes prior to departing, but he was off to an electric offensive start, dropping 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting. The 21-year-old finishes his third professional season having averaged 20 points, 5.8 rebounds, and three assists per game, while knocking down a career-high two triples on a nightly basis. Without Barrett or Julius Randle (quad) for Sunday's regular-season finale, look for Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, Alec Burks, and others to all have elevated roles, thereby increasing their DFS appeal vs. the Raptors.

Tue Mar 22 202222:36RJ Barrett Drops 30 Points In Loss To Atlanta
New York Knicks forward RJ Barrett finished with a double-double during Tuesday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Julius Randle (quadriceps) was out, so the 21-year-old took advantage by scoring a team-high 30 points while adding 13 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. His shooting percentages weren't pretty by any means. Yet, category managers will gladly sacrifice if Barrett continues to produce at this level. New York will next hop on a plane and head south for a meeting with the Hornets on Wednesday, its second of back-to-back contests. Barrett should be starting in all seasonal formats. However, if Randle is out again, DFS managers need the former Blue Devil in their lineup.

Thu Feb 24 202221:13RJ Barrett Uncertain For Friday
New York Knicks forward RJ Barrett (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Miami Heat. Head coach Tom Thibodeau mentioned last week that Barrett is expected to return after the All-Star break. The return of Barrett would mean Quentin Grimes heads back to the second unit. Grimes has been playing well recently, but a move to the bench will certainly hurt his fantasy value. Fantasy managers can hold him for the moment, but Grimes might not be able to produce standard league value once Barrett returns.

Thu Feb 17 202215:06RJ Barrett Likely To Be Ready After The All-Star Break
New York Knicks forward RJ Barrett (ankle) should be ready to play after the All-Star break, according to head coach Tom Thibodeau. The organization believes Barrett is close, but wants to let him rest through the break. Quentin Grimes has surprisingly played very well in the absence of Barrett. It'll be interesting to see how his role changes with Barrett returning in the second half. Fantasy managers should expect Barrett to resume his normal role once he's back to full speed. He scored 23 points or more in six of his last nine games before the injury.

Tue Feb 15 202218:59RJ Barrett, Nerlens Noel To Remain Out Wednesday
New York Knicks guard/forward RJ Barrett (ankle) and center Nerlens Noel (foot) have both been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. This will be the fourth straight game missed for Barrett and the firth straight for Noel. Quentin Grimes should remain in the starting lineup due to Barrett's absence. Grimes has been solid for two straight games, hitting exactly five three-pointers in each contest while scoring a total of 39 points over the two-game set. He's a great target for DFS on Wednesday. Mitchell Robinson, another strong DFS option, will dominate the center minutes on Wednesday with Noel out. Taj Gibson will back Robinson up, though Gibson's unlikely to play more than about 15 minutes.

Thu Feb 10 202215:28RJ Barrett Will Miss Thursday’s Contest
New York Knicks small forward RJ Barrett (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Warriors due to a sprained left ankle. Quentin Grimes jumps off the page as an upside DFS play due to Barrett's absence, although Evan Fournier, Alec Burks, and others stand to see elevated offensive duties as well. Barrett has gotten off to a tremendous offensive start in February, averaging 25 PPG across his first four contests. His next opportunity to get back into action comes Saturday vs. Portland, although donning a walking boot for the time being likely does not bode well for a return.

Fri Dec 24 202114:39RJ Barrett Receives Questionable Tag For Christmas Day
New York Knicks small forward RJ Barrett has been elevated to questionable to play in Saturday's matchup with the Hawks. Barrett has been ramping up for a return to game action, having thus far missed six games due to the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The Knicks current backcourt picture features Kemba Walker, Alec Burksand Evan Fournier, all of whom will likely see a slight decrease in their roles and time on the floor once Barrett is able to return. Barrett began December scorching-hot from long range, shooting 48.1% behind the arc and averaging 20.8 points per game in that span. With the Knicks having the earliest tip-off, fantasy managers can check back to get his definitive status.

Thu Dec 23 202118:26RJ Barrett Remains Sidelined For Thursday’s Game
New York Knicks small forward RJ Barrett has been ruled out for Thursday's contest against the Wizards as he continues to ramp up for a return to game action. Barrett has not played since Dec. 10 due to COVID-19 protocols, with his absence funneling more minutes and usage in the direction of Evan Fournier, Alec Burksand Quentin Grimes. Prior to entering the league's protocols, Barrett had been finding his rhythm offensively, averaging 23.3 points while shooting 60 percent behind the arc over his last three games. A return to play is imminent for the 21-year-old, which could come as soon as Christmas Day vs. Atlanta.

Thu Dec 23 202114:30RJ Barrett Cleared To Rejoin Team
New York Knicks forward RJ Barrett has cleared the league's health and safety protocols. The young forward will finally return after missing each of the last five contests. The Knicks are glad to see Barrett returning with Derrick Rose (ankle) sidelined for possibly two months. Barrett should be asked to do more of the ball handling once he's cleared to return to the court. The hope is that he can play in their next contest, but fantasy managers will have to check back for another update.

Sat Dec 18 202115:41RJ Barrett Out Again On Saturday Night
New York Knicks forward RJ Barrett is listed as out ahead of Saturday's contest in Boston. This will be his fourth straight absence while he remains sidelined because of health and safety protocols. Kevin Knox II, Miles McBride, Immanuel Quickley, and Obi Toppin will also sit for the same reason, so Julius Randle, Evan Fournier, and Alec Burks should continue to benefit. Although he is questionable, Derrick Rose (ankle) may also get additional chances to produce, assuming he is available.

Wed Dec 8 202108:29RJ Barrett Hits Career-High Seven Triples Versus Spurs
New York Knicks shooting guard RJ Barrett produced a big night against the Spurs on Tuesday, hitting a career-high seven triples with eight attempts en route to a game-high 32 points. He was 11-for-20 overall from the field in a 121-109 win, notching five rebounds with two assists, two steals and two turnovers. Barrett can heat up in a hurry, but he's struggled to make 40 percent of his shots this season and it's limited his effectiveness on the offensive end. He meets the Pacers next, a team against whom Barrett has shot only 36.4 percent from the field this season.

Sat Dec 4 202112:20RJ Barrett Will Play Saturday
New York Knicks forward RJ Barrett (illness) will suit up for Saturday's game against the Denver Nuggets. Luckily, Barrett was only forced to miss one game due to an illness. His return will push Immanuel Quickley to the bench. He should still have some value, but not quite as much anymore. Barrett has been playing well this season and should see an increased workload here. Fantasy managers should make sure he's back in their lineups and he should be a solid option for DFS contests on Saturday.

Thu Dec 2 202118:41RJ Barrett, Nerlens Noel Will Miss Thursday’s Contest
New York Knicks small forward RJ Barrett (illness) and center Nerlens Noel (knee) have both been ruled out for Thursday's game against Chicago. Barrett departed Tuesday's outing after just nine minutes, with his absence Thursday marking his first of the season. Without him on the wing, look for Obi Toppin and Evan Fournier to see elevated offensive duties, while Derrick Rose could also snag more minutes. Noel returns to the sidelines after logging 19 minutes Tuesday following a one-game absence. Without him to backup Mitchell Robinson, expect Taj Gibson to get a handful of added minutes, albeit not enough to merit DFS consideration.

Tue Nov 30 202120:27RJ Barrett Will Not Return To Tuesday’s Game
New York Knicks small forward RJ Barrett (illness) will not be available to check back in during Tuesday's contest against Brooklyn due to an illness. Barrett was questionable to play coming into the day before being cleared, but his symptoms appear not to have subsided after logging nine minutes in the first half. In that stretch, Barrett collected four points, four rebounds, and one assist. The immediate beneficiaries are likely to be Derrick Rose and Immanuel Quickley, who could log additional second-half minutes, but a prolonged absence would funnel more offensive usage in the direction of Alec Burks and Evan Fournier. Barrett's next chance to suit up comes Thursday vs. the Bulls.

Tue Nov 30 202118:38RJ Barrett, Derrick Rose Cleared To Suit Up Tuesday
New York Knicks small forward RJ Barrett (illness) and shooting guard Derrick Rose (ankle) have been given the green light to take the floor for Tuesday's game against the Nets. Barrett is yet to miss an outing this season, although he has scuffled over his five previous contests to the tune of shooting just 35.2 percent overall. Rose returns to action after a three-game absence due to a sprained ankle, and is set to give New York a much-needed jolt of offensive punch on its second unit. With the backcourt fully healthy, Tuesday will be fantasy managers' first glimpse into how head coach Tom Thibodeau plans on deploying the new-look group with Kemba Walker out of the mix and Alec Burks entrenched as the starting point guard.

Mon Nov 29 202118:29RJ Barrett Picks Up Questionable Tag For Tuesday
New York Knicks small forward RJ Barrett (illness) has been listed as questionable to play in Tuesday's game against Brooklyn due to an illness. Barrett joins fellow backcourt mate Derrick Rose (ankle) in the questionable column, throwing some doubt on what New York's rotation could look like if Barrett misses his first game of the season. After an early-season scoring flurry, the 21-year-old has cooled significantly as of late, having shot just 39.1 percent overall during his third professional season. An absence would open up more minutes on the wing for Obi Toppin, while Evan Fournier and Alec Burks would likely see even bigger roles as well. Check back prior to tip-off for the final word on Barrett's status.

Thu Nov 18 202108:09RJ Barrett Shoots Poorly But Has A Decent Night Against Orlando
New York Knicks shooting guard RJ Barrett couldn't hit anything from deep against Orlando on Wednesday but managed to record a good 17-9-5 line in a 104-98 loss. He ended up 0-for-7 from downtown and shot 7-for-19 overall from the floor with three turnovers in 34 minutes. This month has been really rough for Barrett, as he's shooting only 36 percent from the field and has gone eight consecutive games shooting 40 percent or worse. The Knicks rotation can be a mess at times and this clearly doesn't help Barrett. With that said, the 21-year-old is in a perfect spot to kick into gear again on Saturday when the Rockets visit the Big Apple. It's a very good pace-up spot for the Knicks against one of the worst teams in the league.

Tue Nov 2 202108:10RJ Barrett Continues His Recent Scoring Surge
On Monday, the New York Knicks lost to the Toronto Raptors 113-104, but RJ Barrett's recent scoring burst continued. The 21-year old provided his third 20-plus scoring night in as many games and is putting those early-season concerns behind him. In 39 minutes, Barrett dropped 27 points, six rebounds, a steal, and five three-pointers. He went 9-for-13 from the floor and made five of his eight three-point attempts. In these last three matchups, the former-Duke standout is averaging 27.3 points and giving managers valuable numbers in rebounds, threes, and pumping up his shooting ratios. Currently, he's a top-75 option in category leagues but can rise even higher if the scoring output remains consistent.
