Mitchell allowed two runs over two innings in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

Mitchell has struggled heavily in the final month of the season, posting a 13.50 ERA with seven walks in just six innings in September. The 24-year-old made a pair of starts in the majors, but will primarily serve as a long relief option out of the bullpen.

Mitchell landed on the concussion DL for 10 days after taking a liner off the face, but he was cleared of all symptoms back on Saturday. Mitchell (concussion) threw 30 pitches Tuesday in a simulated game and had no setbacks, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

Mitchell is eligible to come off the 7-day concussion DL on Tuesday, but the Yankees have not yet made their decision on when to activate him at this point. All indications are that Mitchell, who had a scary moment on the mound last week when a comebacker struck him in the nose, is clear of any concussion symptoms, so he could be back with the Yankees before too long.

Mitchell pass all of his concussion tests Saturday and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Sunday, the YES Network's Meredith Markovits reports.

After playing catch Friday it sounds like Mitchell is progressing well, and if his bullpen session goes well he could be on track to be activated sometime next week.

Mitchell was diagnosed with a small nasal fracture from the line drive that hit him Monday, but was released from the hospital, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.

It sounds like Mitchell will be okay, so it's possible that he'll end up avoiding the DL and maybe only missing one start. We'll await an updated prognosis.

He was able to stand up and walk off under his own power, but he'll be taken to the clubhouse for further tests. Mitchell allowed one earned run on four hits in 1.2 innings prior to exiting. He was replaced by Caleb Cotham.

Mitchell will start Monday's game against the Twins, Phil Miller of the Star Tribune reports.

C.C. Sabathia will move back to Tuesday, with Nathan Eovaldi now scheduled for Friday. The Yankees are likely just using Mitchell to give Ivan Nova (finger) an extra day of rest, but Mitchell could perhaps stick in the rotation for a few starts if Nova doesn't make a quick recovery.

Mitchell got rocked in his spot start Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks over four-plus innings while striking out five.

The Yankees were fairly quiet at the trade deadline and failed to pick up a starting pitcher, a decision that could look short-sighted if their lead in the AL East begins to peel away. Look for Mitchell to head back to the bullpen or even Triple-A in the next few days, as rookie Luis Severino is expected to replace him in the rotation.

Mitchell made 15 starts in Triple-A before being called up to the big leagues and went 5-5 with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP across 75.0 innings in those starts.

Mitchell was recalled from Triple-A on Thursday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Mitchell and Nick Goody will come up from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, while the Yankees will option Caleb Cotham to Triple-A. The 24-year-old Mitchell has appeared in six games for New York this season, allowing eight hits and three earned runs while posting a 6:1 K:BB across 9.1 innings.

Mitchell had been excellent since his last recall, throwing 6.1 innings with a 2.84 ERA and allowing a .174 batting average against. It's a bit curious why the Yankees would demote him for another right-hander, Branden Pinder, when he's been so good, as he hasn't been used since the All-Star break.

Mitchell was optioned to Triple-A following Sunday's game, but he'll return in short order to fill the spot of Ramon Flores, who was sent to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier Tuesday. Mitchell made his first major league appearance of the season Saturday against Detroit, allowing one earned run on four hits in 3.0 innings.

Mitchell has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Mitchell will head back to the minors after one game and a very unorthodox save. He's being replaced by Danny Burawa since the Yankees could need a fresh arm and likely don't want to push him into the bullpen just yet. He could get back to the majors if New York needs a spot starter or gets desperate for bullpen help again.
