Wood, who struck out two in the effort, is off to a good start in laying claim to the fifth spot in the Cubs' rotation.

Which Wood will we see in 2015? The one that shocked everyone with a 3.11 ERA in 32 starts in 2013, or the one who fell to earth in 2014? He'll be given every opportunity to win a job in the rotation, but he's also a candidate to be traded, so the Cubs could be showcasing him a little.

The Phillies are reportedly interested in Wood, who could get dealt along with Welington Castillo. The Cubs may be interested in signing James Shields, which could make Wood expendable. Teams may be interested in the Travis Wood of 2013, but he fell back to earth in 2014, finishing 8-13 with a 5.03 ERA.

Wood avoided arbitration with the Cubs by agreeing to a one-year, $5.685 million deal, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Despite a 5.03 ERA and 1.532 WHIP, Wood could still be valued by the Cubs due to his age (27) and his status as a young pitcher for an organization in need of them. He could also have value as a future trade chip.
