Ramos had a two-run lead, but made things interesting as he gave up a leadoff double with the runner reaching third on an error before striking out the side. He's been quite busy lately, as he's saved four games over the last five calendar days.

Ramos logged a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one walk and striking out one, to record his 26th save as Miami downed Washington 2-1 Friday night.

Ramos got off to a great start when he replaced Steve Cishek as the Marlins closer earlier this season, but he has been somewhat shaky of late. Despite a very nice 2.57 ERA, he has six blown saves, and has allowed at least one baserunner in each of his last 11 appearances. His job is probably not in any immediate danger, but he could use a few clean outings to solidify his spot.

Ramos allowed a hit and walked two batters Sunday but escaped with a scoreless inning and his second win of the year as the Marlins walked off against the Mets.

It caps off an eventful weekend for Miami's closer who bounced back from a blown save on Friday evening. Ramos has been fairly shaky over the past few weeks, allowing at least one baserunner in each of his last 10 appearances, but he's been able to mostly work his way out of trouble. The closer is sitting with a sparkling 2.72 ERA and 1.07 WHIP on the year while converting 23-of-29 save chances.

He has logged 23 saves while posting a respectable 2.76 ERA, but the six blown saves, and his overall performance over the past month or so are becoming more and more problematic. Unfortunately for the Marlins, the most likely successor is Carter Capps who recently suffered a set-back in his rehab and now has no scheduled timeline for a return. Ramos will likely continue to get the ball in the ninth inning, but he needs to string together a few solid outings.

Ramos has struggled in the month of August, coming into this one with a 6.23 over 8.2 innings so he needed a strong outing. Overall, Ramos has done a respectable job since taking over the closer's role, and with the most likely threat to his job security, Carter Capps, out with an injury, his job is probably not in serious jeopardy if he can build on this performance.

Ramos struggled for the second straight outing Sunday, allowing a pair of runs on two hits in an inning of work. Although he blew the save, the Marlins offense earned him a win in the bottom of the inning with three runs of their own.

Despite his recent struggles, Ramos still has a 2.49 ERA on the season. He has blown five saves in just 22 chances, but the right-hander seems secure in his role as the team's closer after Seve Cishek was traded away.

Ramos struggled again Friday night, allowing four runs on one hit and three walks while striking out three over 1.1 innings.

Ramos (0-3, 2.15 ERA) loaded the bases and walked in the lead run in the 11th inning, then watched as the Padres scored a total of five runs to win 8-3. Ramos has 17 saves since taking over the closer's role, but he has suffered multiple rough outings recently. There has been no indication that his job is in jeopardy, but he needs to put together some clean outings to keep the gig secure.

Ramos allowed one hit and walked two batters before escaping with his 17th save of the season Tuesday against the Nationals.

Ramos retired Nationals' catcher Wilson Ramos to begin the inning before loading up the bases while working with a three-run lead. He then bounced back to induce a game-ending double play off the bat of Yunel Escobar to secure the victory. Ramos has been playing with fire over his last few outings, allowing nine base runner in his last four innings, but he's largely been able to pitch his way out of trouble thanks to an elite strikeout rate. For the season, Ramos converted 17-for-21 save opportunities while posting a 1.44 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with 55 strikeouts over 43.2 innings pitched.

Ramos gave up two hits and a walk but struck out three in a scoreless ninth against the Diamondbacks to pick up his 16th save Wednesday.

Ramos, who blew a save Sunday, walked Aaron Hill, then gave up singles to Ender Inciarte and pinch hitter Wellington Castillo to load the bases. He clamped down after that, striking out Paul Goldschmidt, A.J. Pollock and Yasmany Tomas for his 16th save in 20 chances. For the season, Ramos has a 1.48 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 55:12 K:BB ratio in 42.2 innings.

Ramos (0-2) blew his fourth save of the year Sunday, giving up a game-winning two-run home run to Jeff Francoeur in an 8-7 loss to the Phillies.

Ramos threw a five pitch walk to Carlos Ruiz to begin the ninth inning before serving up a fastball to Francoeur on a 1-0 count. Prior to Sunday's game, the 28-year-old hadn't allowed a run his last 12 innings, posting a dominant 13:2 K:BB ratio during that span.

Ramos earned his 14th save of the season, giving up one hit and striking out one in a scoreless ninth Thursday against the Reds,

Ramos pitched around a leadoff double by Joey Votto to pick up his 14th save in 17 chances. For the season, Ramos has a 1.13 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 48:10 K:BB ratio in 39.2 innings.

Ramos tossed a scoreless ninth inning Friday against the Cubs to record his 13th save of the season.

Since taking over the closer role from Steve Cishek, Ramos has been outstanding for the Marlins. For the season, he's whiffing batters at an elite clip (33.1% K%) while showing the best control he's ever displayed at the big league level (7.2% BB%). Not surprisingly, he's making a case to be considered a top-10 closer with elite ratios that include a 1.19 ERA and 0.74 WHIP through 37.2 innings.

Ramos picked up his eighth save Saturday against the Rockies, striking out two during a perfect ninth inning.

Ramos has not allowed a baserunner in either of his appearance since allowing a walk-off home run to the Blue Jays earlier in the week. He continues to mature into a dominant back-end option, posting a 1.47 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 40:8 K:BB ratio over 30.2 innings pitched. Former closer Steve Cishek is now back at the major league level, but this job belongs to Ramos.

Ramos blew a save and took the loss Tuesday, allowing a walk-off two-run home run to Edwin Encarnacion as the Marlins fell 4-3.

Ramos was asked to protect a one-run lead against the heart of the Blue Jays lineup. He allowed a leadoff single to Josh Donaldson before striking out Jose Bautista, but Encarnacion got to the Marlins' close to end the game. The effort will go down as Ramos' third blown save of the season, but it's his first since taking over the closer role in mid-May. Overall, he's got an excellent 1.57 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 37:8 K:BB ratio over 28.2 inning pitched. His grasp on the ninth inning job remains strong, even after the poor showing against one of the league's scariest lineups.

Ramos struck out one during a scoreless 10th inning Sunday against the Rockies to earn his seventh save in seven tries this season.

The 28-year-old has been nothing short of stellar for Miami, with a 0.95 ERA, a 0.78 WHIP and an 11.3 K/9 through 28.2 innings. With former closer Steve Cishek working on his mechanics at Double-A and Ramos excelling as the team's closer, he appears to have a hold on the job for the foreseeable future.

Ramos got into a little trouble Tuesday but hung on against the Cubs to collect his fifth save of the season.

He allowed two hits and one walk, but no runs scored as he notched two strikeouts and Addison Russell committed a baserunning blunder for the third out. Ramos has allowed six baserunners in his last three appearances, but has also notched six strikeouts and three saves over that span. He appears to have a firm hold of the closer role in Miami.

Ramos worked 1.1 innings Saturday, giving up one hit and striking out two, to notch his fourth save of the season.

He's now got a dynamite 1.07 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB ratio in 25.1 innings on the season. Even if Steve Cishek rediscovers his form, Ramos shows no sign of giving up the Marlins' closer job.

Ramos allowed one run on two hits in the ninth inning of Miami's 4-3 win over the Mets on Friday night, but he hung on to collect his third save.

He also uncorked a wild pitch so it was a shaky outing, but the Marlins' new closer finished off the win. He still owns a sparkling 1.13 ERA and has been effective since taking over the closer's role from Steve Cishek so he should continue to see save opportunities for the foreseeable future.

Ramos had two strikeouts in a perfect ninth to pick up his first career save in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

Ramos followed three relievers after starter Jarred Cosart departed with a tight right hamstring in the sixth. With Steve Cishek having lost his closer job, Ramos will continue to get the ball in save opportunities for the Marlins.
