Though Bruce Rondon blew the save Saturday night against the Astros, he and not Wilson will likely get the next save chance for the Tigers, mLive.com reports.

Speaking of Rondon, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said: "If we had a save tomorrow, he would close, assuming he's fine." Ausumus hasn't been that committal in naming a closer between Rondon and Wilson, but after Wilson developed some shoulder soreness, he turned to Rondon and now appears to prefer him.

Wilson (shoulder) was available to pitch in Tuesday's game, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.

A bout of shoulder fatigue sidelined Wilson for a few games, but it sounds like he was cleared to pitch after completing a bullpen session Monday. Manager Brad Ausmus said he would have used Wilson on Tuesday if the Tigers had a lead. Wilson has turned in 12 straight scoreless appearances for Detroit, with two saves and a win in his last four outings.

Wilson (shoulder) threw a 12-pitch bullpen session Monday. While the bullpen session went fine, he won't be available to pitch Monday, though barring a setback, he should be available Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Wilson has been battling shoulder soreness throughout the weekend, though a positive bullpen session should be an encouraging sign. He's thrown 57.2 innings in the big leagues this season, up from 28.1 innings last year and has been excellent, holding a sub-1.00 WHIP and a 1.72 ERA.

Wilson was unavailable to pitch Saturday night due to right shoulder fatigue, MLive.com reports.

While speculation may have arisen as to why the manager Brad Ausmus went with Bruce Rondon over Wilson on Saturday, now the reason behind the decision has been revealed. Ausmus described it as "just a little soreness," but also indicated he was a "little bit" concerned about it. Wilson appeared to be the favorite for the closer role following the trade of Joakim Soria, and that could still be the case, but the situation is worth monitoring to ensure nothing more serious comes of the issue.

Wilson (2-3) picked up a fortunate win Thursday, allowing a hit and walking two batters in a scoreless ninth inning against the Royals.

Wilson loaded the bases, but escaped with no damage. He was than rewarded with a win when Ian Kinsler went deep for a walk-off homer in the bottom half of the ninth. It appears Wilson has secured the job as Detroit's closer, but he'll need to pitch better than this if he wants to maintain his new role.

Wilson picked up his second save of the season Wednesday against the Royals. He pitched 0.1 innings and allowed one hit.

It was unspectacular, but effective. He'll continue to get the closing opportunities until he falters, but he probably won't help much in other categories.

Manager Brad Ausmus clarified Saturday night that Wilson and Blaine Hardy are the top candidates to close for the Tigers, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports. "I'll probably use Wilson at the back end, maybe Hardy at the back end if there are lefties," Ausmus said.

With Joakim Soria out of the ninth-inning picture after getting dealt to the Pirates on Thursday, it looks like Wilson will be the top Tigers reliever to pick up for those speculating on saves. While it appears Ausmus is entertaining the idea of taking a mix-and-match approach to the closing situation, Wilson's right-handedness should afford him save opportunities more often than not. Wilson has been one of the few relievers in the Tigers' bullpen that's been even moderately successful this season, delivering a 1.79 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 55.1 innings.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said that the late-inning relief roles were "still up in the air" following the trade of Joakim Soria, though Wilson has earned consideration for his overall good numbers and good performance Thursday, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Bruce Rondon is also a candidate for save chances, though if Wilson is available the next time the Tigers have a save chance, one would speculate that he'd get the first opportunity to nail it down. Ausmus said: "I'll certainly use him in that type of game. ... He's pitched as well as anyone in our bullpen."

Wilson threw 1.2 scoreless innings to close out Thursday's victory over the Orioles and pick up his first save of the season.

The Tigers have not officially announced who their closer will be following the trade of Joakim Soria on Thursday, but Wilson got the first opportunity Thursday night and locked up the 9-8 win to prevent the Tigers from blowing a 9-2 lead. Wilson struggled earlier this season, but over his last 9.1 innings, he allowed just four hits and posted a 7:1 K:BB ratio. While he has not been named closer, Wilson is worth a look for those in need of saves.

Wilson has really struggled over the last 15 games, allowing 26 hits in just 18.1 innings of work. He has allowed five earned runs.

His WHIP is a gaudy 1.58, but there's a bright side (we think) -- he's only allowed three walks. Right now, he's suffering from the same malaise as the rest of the Tigers' bullpen and he won't help you on your fantasy squad. Not one little bit.

Wilson came out of the bullpen and pitched three hitless innings Wednesday against Oakland in his first career start. He finished with one strikeout and one walk.

Kyle Ryan was originally tapped to start, but arrived too late to prepare for the first inning. Wilson hurled 29 of 43 pitches for strikes; he hadn't fired more than 45 pitches in any game this season, so the Tigers certainly didn't overtax him.

Wilson will start Wednesday's game against the A's.

Wilson will come out of the bullpen to make a spot start Wednesday afternoon. He has not thrown more than 45 pitches in a game this season and has thrown a maximum of 24 pitches over his last six outings, so it is unlikely he will handle a full starter's workload Wednesday. Consider it a bullpen game for the Tigers.

Wilson has been a real surprise coming out of the Tigers' bullpen. He has a 1.50 ERA and allowed just three runs in 18 innings pitched this season.

He was closing games in Toledo (Triple-A), but it didn't take him long to adjust to long relief. Opposing batters are hitting just .167 against him and he has a 11:2 K:BB rate. And he has given up just six hits, and no runs, in his last 12.2 innings. His value as a swingman is great, but not on most fantasy playing fields. But that would change quickly if he ever got into the mix for late-inning work.

Wilson had his contract purchased from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.

Wilson will serve as an extra arm in the bullpen after starter David Price lasted just 2.1 snowy innings in Wednesday's outing. The right-handed Wilson hasn't been scored upon in four appearances in the minors this year, striking out five in 5.1 innings. Ian Krol was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move to make room on the 25-man roster.

Wilson didn't win a spot in the bullpen to open the season but will likely be needed in the majors before the end of the year. He'll likely just be a middle reliever, so there isn't much upside to speak of.

Wilson is expected to compete for the final right-handed reliever spot in the Tigers' bullpen during spring training, the Detroit News reports.

Acquired as part of the Rick Porcello trade in December, Wilson projects as a middle reliever for 2015 if he's able to secure the job. Josh Zeid, Buck Farmer, and Chad Smith are the other options currently in the mix for the job.

Wilson was traded to the Tigers on Thursday as part of the deal that brings Rick Porcello to Detroit, Fox Sports' Jon Morosi reports.

Wilson split last season between the Red Sox and Triple-A Pawtucket. He made 18 appearances for the big league club, going 1-0 with a 1.91 ERA across 28.1 innings. Wilson posted an impressive 6-1 mark at Triple-A despite holding a 4.35 ERA in 41.1 innings. The 28-year-old should compete for a spot in Detroit's bullpen but could end up beginning 2015 at Triple-A Toledo.

Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.

At this time, it looks like the Red Sox will put an end to their six-man rotation, as Anthony Ranaudo was sent back to Pawtucket in a corresponding move. With no true long reliever in the Red Sox's 'pen, Wilson could fulfill that role upon joining the big club.

Wilson has been optioned back to Triple-A Pawtucket, Alex Speier of WEEI.com reports.

Wilson's second stint in the majors this season turned out to be very short, as the 27-year-old reliever made just one appearance after being called up this past Friday. In a corresponding move, right-hander Steven Wright has been brought up from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, the Boston Globe reports.

Wilson has spent the bulk of the season at Triple-A, where he holds a 4.23 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. In two appearances for the Red Sox in 2014, Wilson has allowed three hits and one earned run in 3.0 innings.
