Tue Sep 1 201516:28Griffin (shoulder) placed on 60-day DL on Tuesday
Griffin (shoulder) was placed on the 60-day DL on Tuesday, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
Griffin's recovery from April 2014 Tommy John surgery was halted by a shoulder strain, which will keep him on the shelf for the rest of this season. The right-hander turned in strong numbers over 32 starts for the A's in 2013 (3.83 ERA, 1.13 WHIP), but expectations will likely be relatively low heading into spring training following two significant injuries and a two-year absence from the majors.

Griffin (shoulder) remains on the Nashville DL and is still not throwing, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Griffin was originally slated to return to the A's in July after his 2014 Tommy John surgery and was making rehab starts in June, but the shoulder strain has now cost him nearly a month. At this point, he has not thrown for a month and would need to build back the arm strength once he is able to pick up a ball again. The 2015 is very rapidly becoming a lost season for Griffin.

Griffin was placed on Triple-A Nashville's disabled list with a right shoulder strain and will not throw for several days, SF Gate reports.
The issue is not in the same area where Griffin had a problem earlier in the year and he might resume throwing later this week.

Griffin (elbow) was reinstated from the DL and optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, CSN California's Joe Stiglich reports.
Griffin's pitch count is around 80 at the moment, so he will need to make at least one or two starts with Nashville before he can join the A's rotation. Now 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery, the reports on Griffin have been good, and he is worth stashing in deeper formats. Kendall Graveman would be the obvious pitcher for Griffin to replace when his time comes.

Griffin has made two rehab appearances at High-A Stockton and will now move up to the Athletics' Triple-A affiliate. He continues to get closer to a return to the big league club, but he is still without a timetable for the time being.

Griffin (elbow) will make another rehab start Sunday with High-A Stockton, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
He is set to throw a bullpen session Thursday, and Sunday's rehab outing will be his second -- both with Stockton. Griffin is expected to throw 60 pitches Sunday, so as his pitch count continues to climb, he will be ever closer to joining the big league rotation.

Griffin (elbow) will throw a bullpen session in Oakland on Thursday, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
He gave up one hit while striking out three over three innings in Tuesday's rehab start with High-A Stockton. There is no word on when his next rehab start will be, but he could be nearing a return to Oakland's rotation in late-June/early-July.

Griffin (elbow) will make his first rehab start at High-A Stockton on Tuesday, Joe Stiglich of CSNBayArea.com reports.
After Griffin tossed a pair of 15-pitch simulated games Thursday, the Athletics were satisfied enough with the right-hander's results to have him advance his rehab to a minor-league game. Tuesday will mark Griffin's first game appearance since spring training of last season, before his bout with elbow tendinitis ended up requiring Tommy John surgery. Griffin will likely be eased along slowly during his rehab assignment, which will likely cover multiple weeks with stops at multiple affiliates.

Griffin (elbow) said he felt great after throwing two 15-pitch simulated games Thursday, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
Griffin mixed in all of his pitches during Thursday's session as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery. While he only threw 30 pitches, he's hoping to return around the All-Star break, and that doesn't seem like an unrealistic target.

Griffin continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery, but will take another step forward Thursday. He still has a lot of arm strength to build up, but a recovery in late June or early July doesn't seem out of the question.

Sun May 24 201512:23Griffin (elbow) will throw bullpen session Monday
Griffin (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Monday, John Hickey of the Oakland Tribune reports.
The Athletics suggested a few days earlier that Griffin might be ready to begin a rehab assignment at some point during the coming week, but it appears those plans have been at least slightly delayed. The bullpen session should provide an accurate gauge for how Griffin is coming along in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, but he may need a few workouts off the mound before seeing competitive action. It's still looking like he won't be back with the big club until July at the earliest.
Wed May 20 201513:38Griffin (elbow) could begin rehab assignment next week
Griffin (elbow) could begin a rehab assignment next week, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Griffin's progress was slowed in early May by soreness in his shoulder, but he will throw a bullpen session Wednesday to see where he stands health-wise. While Griffin appears on the verge of a rehab assignment, he figures to make anywhere between 3-6 minor league starts before rejoining the big club, so he remains several weeks away from pitching for the A's.

Griffin (elbow) felt some soreness in his shoulder during a simulated game Thursday, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports.
Griffin appeared to be nearing to a rehab assignment after making it through his first two sim games without issue, but this shoulder concern will set him back indefinitely. The A's have shut the right-hander down and will send him back to Oakland to be evaluated.

Sun Apr 26 201515:00Griffin (elbow) will toss another simulated game Monday
Griffin (elbow) will toss another simulated game Monday, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports.
Griffin made his debut in simulated-game action at extended spring training last week and didn't appear to have any setbacks, so he'll likely increase his pitch count in Monday's outing. The right-hander is about one year removed from Tommy John surgery, and probably won't be back at full strength until midseason.

Griffin continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery, but still remains over a month away from his return. Fortunately, he's making a steady progress, and will take another step forward Monday.
