Aminu may be a more focal offensive contributor this season, the Oregonian reports. "I think it's an opportunity for a lot of these players coming in to expand their games offensively in particular," Stotts said. "You look at (Al)-Farouq (Aminu) and Moe (Harkless), they have a chance to become ball handlers, facilitators much in the way that we used Nic Batum."

Aminu relies on athleticism to secure offensive rebounds and play stout defense. He's a career 29 percent three-point shooter and ran 14 pick-and-rolls last season with the Mavericks, per NBA.com. Aminu has never been much of a playmaker or driver, so to expect Nicolas Batum-like statistics his first season with the Blazers would be foolhardy. However, he'll have the opportunity if he starts at small forward, and that will allow him to expound upon his career average of 2.5 assists per 100 possessions. Aminu was utilized as a spot-up shooter with the Mavs, and that included heavy minutes at power forward. If coach Stotts absolves him of outside shooting and removes him from the basket on defense, expect a rise in field goal percentage at the detriment of block opportunities.

Aminu agreed Tuesday to a four-year, $30 million deal with the Blazers, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

He declined his player option with the Mavs to become a free agent, and it seemed that decision paid off. LaMarcus Aldridge is widely expected to leave Portland in free agency, and with Nicolas Batum gone and Wesley Matthews' future uncertain, the Blazers appear to all of a sudden be a rebuilding team. Aminu figures to start at small forward for the Blazers, while also offering an option to play power forward in some smaller lineups. He should be a good across-the-board contributor, specifically in rebounds, as long as he is seeing major minutes.

Aminu announced Thursday that he will decline his player option for next season and become a free agent, the Dallas Morning News reports.

After a standout playoff series against the Rockets, in which Aminu averaged 11.2 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting nearly 64 percent from three, it makes sense for Aminu to test the free agency waters, as his option would pay him just $1.1 million next season. "I thin it makes the most sense to me," Aminu said. "You just look for a great fit. This year, I think I found one. Hopefully, I can do the same." Aminu, who turns 25 in September, is expected to draw considerable interest on the open market, but the Mavericks have made it clear that they'd like to bring him back on a new contract. "We hope to be in a position to reacquire his services," GM Donnie Nelson said.

Aminu is unlikely to exercise his player option for the 2014-15 season, Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Aminu closed the season on a strong note, playing a key role in the Mavericks' first round playoff series against the Rockets. He likely showed enough to draw considerable interest on the open market this offseason, and it appears he'll test the waters once free agency begins. Aminu noted that he'd like to return to the Mavericks, and Mavs' GM Donnie Nelson confirmed that the interest is mutual.

Aminu finished strong down the stretch during his first season in Dallas. He finished the season averaging 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 74 games played.

Aminu recently revealed he will opt out of his contract and return to the free agent market. Dallas will likely look to bring him back on a more lucrative deal but he will have plenty of suitors. A fluctuating role during the regular season left his final numbers a bit lacking but a strong run in the playoffs showed there is room for continued growth. Aminu averaged 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game during Dallas' five postseason contests and could be an interesting player to consider next season for his across-the-board contirbutions.

Aminu stuffed the stat sheet in Game 5's loss to the Rockets, posting 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists, five steals, and one trey in 36 minutes of action.

Aminu has been filling in for the injured Chandler Parsons, and he's managed to do a solid job as the starting power forward. Although the Mavericks were eliminated by the Rockets after Game 5's loss, Aminu was able to finish the postseason averaging 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game.

Aminu received the first playoff start of his career Sunday and reward the Mavericks with a double-double. He finished with 16 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-3 FT) and 12 rebounds in the Game 4 win.

Dallas was able to avoid the sweep and will now travel to Houston looking to extend the series. Based on his performance, expect to see Aminu remain in the starting lineup.

Aminu scored 15 points (4-5 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT) Friday in a Game 3 loss to the Rockets. He added five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

Amanda played a team-high 34 minutes off the bench. He could be in line for a bigger role Sunday with Richard Jefferson nursing a calf injury.

Aminu had nine points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals,and three blocks in 23 minutes off the bench Tuesday.

Aminu got the same amount of playing time as the starter, Richard Jefferson, but had a more productive all-around game. His defensive prowess gives him an edge over the veteran Jefferson and should ensure a consistent role off the bench for the rest of the Mavericks' playoff run.

Aminu played 19 minutes in Dallas' Game 1 loss to Houston but could be in line for bigger minutes in Game 2 as teammate Chandler Parsons is questionable to play with a knee injury. He scored two points and collected six rebounds in Saturday's loss.

Aminu could be used as a primary defender against Houston's James Harden as the Mavericks attempt to slow the MVP candidate.

Aminu scored seven points (2-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) Wednesday in a win over the Trail Blazers. He played a team-high 33 minutes.

Aminu played an expanded role in the regular season finale as coach Rick Carlisle limited the workload of the Dallas starters. The Mavericks will travel to Houston Saturday for Game 1 against the Rockets.

Aminu scored 10 points (2-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT) with 10 rebounds, three assists and a block in 29 minutes off the bench Monday.

Despite not getting a starting nod, Aminu still turned in a productive night. Chandler Parsons could return from his knee injury in time for Wednesday's regular season finale, but if he doesn't look for Aminu to continue his surprising late season run of fantasy usefulness.

Updating a previous note, Aminu will not get the start Monday against Utah, Earl Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

The Star-Telegram reported an incorrect lineup earlier in the evening which listed Aminu as as a starting forward. Instead, it will be Charlie Villanueva. Nonetheless, Aminu should pick up some extra minutes with a number of regulars resting.

Aminu will get the start Monday against Utah, Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Aminu will move into the starting lineup at power forward as the Mavericks rest a number of regulars, including Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler. Expect him to see increased minutes, likely in the 25-30 range.

Aminu scored 10 points (4-7 FG, 1-1 FT, 1-2 3Pt) and grabbed 10 rebounds Sunday in a win over the Lakers. He added one steal and an assist.

Aminu played 26 minutes off the bench and could be in line for another heavy dose of action Monday. The Mavericks will rest starters Monta Ellis, Tyson Chandler, and Dirk Nowitzki for the game in Utah.

Aminu scored 10 points and collected nine rebounds Friday in a double overtime win over the Nuggets. He added one assist and one blocked shot.

Aminu played 28 minutes off the bench as Denver and Dallas combined for the highest scoring game in the NBA this year.

Aminu scored just one points (0-5 FG, 1-2 FT) Wednesday in a win over the Suns. He added four rebounds, two assists, and one block in 22 minutes of action.

Aminu received the most minutes of any Dallas bench player but failed to fill the stat sheet. He remains a limited fantasy contributor.

Aminu had a solid performance off the bench Thursday in a loss to the Rockets, scoring seven points (2-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT) to go along with eight rebounds, two assists and four blocks in 26 minutes.

Aminu generally doesn't put up big scoring numbers, but he does have five or more rebounds in five of his past six games. In his past 10 games, he's being held to just 5.3 points per game on 36.1 percent shooting and just one assist.

Aminu scored 12 points (4-of-5 FG, 1-of-1 3PT, 3-of-5 FT) in a win over the Thunder on Wednesday. He added six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and a blocked shot.

Aminu had his best game since returning from a shoulder injury but remains a fringe fantasy option.

Aminu scored two points on 1-of-2 shooting Friday. He added two rebounds and two steals in a loss to Memphis.

Aminu played 19 minutes but was limited by foul trouble and was unable to make much of an impact in the boxscore.
