Milwaukee would like to deal Garza as the trading deadline nears, but he's probably not pitching well enough to attract many offers.

RHP Matt Garza started Wednesday and gave up three homers -- the first he had given up in five starts this year. He was tagged with eight hits and seven runs in 4 1/3 innings and fell to 1-2. The veteran right-hander had not allowed any home runs in his first four starts this year over 21 2/3 innings. "I left some pitches up and I didn't get ahead," Garza said. "I was behind in a lot of counts today and I had to pitch from behind. You just put it in the back of your mind and put it behind and on to the next one." Garza, who came off the disabled list on June 14, had a 7.01 ERA in nine previous starts against Washington. Garza saw his ERA rise from 3.74 to 5.54 as Michael Blazek came on in the fifth. "Today he just made too many mistakes in the middle of the plate. Today was a rough one. He's given up some hits for sure," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said of Garza.
