Sun Oct 22 202300:13Luka Doncic "Progressing," Remains Without A Timetable
According to Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, guard Luka Doncic (calf) "is progressing." after suffering a strain during practice a few weeks ago. "He continues to do on-court work," said Kidd. "My hope is that he resumes practicing next week, but we'll see where we are after the weekend." The 2018 No. 3 overall pick averaged a career-high 32.4 points last season, adding 8.6 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.4 steals. Without question, Doncic is expected to remain a productive component of every fantasy lineup once he's healthy. However, it appears the 24-year-old might miss the opener versus the San Antonio Spurs. But fantasy managers are used to occasional absences from Doncic at this point in his career, considering he hasn't played more than 66 games in each of his previous four seasons. At any rate, Kyrie Irving will become the undisputed primary ball-handler for Wednesday's contest (and beyond) if Doncic is sidelined. With Jaden Hardy (ankle) potentially sitting out as well, Dante Exum could see meaningful minutes.

Sat Oct 21 202306:07Luka Doncic Remains Without A Timetable
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (calf) doesn't have a timetable for his return, according to Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd. Doncic, who battled through a thigh injury at the end of last season and wasn't 100 percent healthy at the FIBA World Cup either, hurt his calf during a practice session ahead of a preseason contest against Real Madrid on Oct. 10. The Slovenian star was limited to only five minutes in the game. The Mavericks returned to action Friday versus Detroit, but Doncic sat out the match, and it's certainly worrying that he doesn't have a timetable for a return less than a week before the regular season starts.

Mon Oct 16 202315:54Mavericks Hopeful Luka Doncic Plays In Opener
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (calf) is not going to play in Friday's preseason finale versus the Detroit Pistons. The Mavericks are optimistic, however, that Doncic will be ready to go for Oct. 25's season opener against the San Antonio Spurs. Doncic is dealing with a "mild" left calf strain, per head coach Jason Kidd, after playing only five minutes in last Tuesday's exhibition contest. It's not exactly what fantasy managers want to hear regarding the four-time All-Star, especially considering Doncic also dealt with a nagging thigh issue during this past summer's FIBA World Cup. As it stands, Doncic should probably not be moved very much, if at all, in fantasy draft rankings this fall, but the superstar playmaker's status needs to be heavily monitored ahead of the season. Keep an eye on Jaden Hardy as a deep-league flier until Doncic and Kyrie Irving (groin) are officially off the injury report.

Tue Oct 10 202321:44Luka Doncic Limited On Tuesday
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (calf) was limited to five minutes during Tuesday's scrimmage with Real Madrid in Spain. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned as Doncic's appearance was ceremonial. The superstar guard continues to deal with a minor calf injury, so the Mavs are going to play it safe with him. It wouldn't be shocking to see Doncic continue to be limited during the preseason. His injury doesn't appear to be significant, so Doncic should be fine in time for the regular season.

Thu Oct 5 202318:46Luka Doncic Scores 25 Points In Abu Dhabi
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (thigh) scored a game-high 25 points in Thursday's preseason loss to Minnesota. He battled a thigh issue during the FIBA World Cup, so there are concerns about his health heading into the season. But he looked good, going 8-for-14 from the field, adding five rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes of play. The 24-year-old averaged a career-high 32.4 points in 2022-23, making him a favorite to capture an MVP award this season. However, Doncic hasn't played more than 66 games since his rookie year, meaning his health may remain an obstacle for fantasy managers during the 2023-24 campaign.

Sat Sep 9 202309:52Luka Doncic Still Bothered By Leg Injury
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic has admitted that he played through a leg injury at the FIBA World Cup. "I do not know what to say," Doncic said ahead of Slovenia's final game at the tournament. "It's not okay. At the same time, I have to prepare for one more game, and then for a whole season in the NBA." Doncic also finished the last NBA campaign playing through the ailment after getting hurt in March. Additionally, the injury forced him to exit early from a pre-World Cup exhibition game against Greece. The leg injury didn't keep Doncic from crushing it at another international tournament, and it looks like he will be ready for the new NBA season as well, but having a fully healthy Doncic would definitely make fantasy managers a lot happier.

Wed Sep 6 202309:53Luka Doncic Has Taken Conditioning "More Serious" This Offseason
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic has had a more professional approach to his conditioning this summer, according to his teammate at the World Cup, Mike Tobey. "I'd say I feel he's a little bit more rested," Tobey told EuroHoops. "He looks fresh and in shape, he's really taking care of his body and himself a lot more seriously this summer. You can tell it by his nutrition, by how he looks: he's in a lot better shape. I really see a big step forward in that part of his professionalism. He seems to be more focused. It seems both." Doncic's conditioning has been a hot topic in the NBA at times as he has looked a lot heavier compared to the first couple of campaigns in the league. This hasn't stopped Doncic from dominating. However, being in better shape physically could help him to elevate his game further.

Sat Aug 26 202310:16Luka Doncic Posts 37 Points In World Cup Opener
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic put on a show in Slovenia's World Cup opener against Venezuela on Saturday, posting a tournament-high 37 points. The four-time All-Star struggled from downtown and hit only 2-for-8 behind the arc, but he was 11-for-18 overall from the field and grabbed a big chunk of his points off the free-throw line, shooting 13-for-16. In 31 minutes, Doncic also filled the box score with seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block. After averaging a 27-8-7 line at last year's EuroBasket, Doncic looks set for another outstanding international tournament.

Tue Aug 8 202317:43Luka Doncic Collects Big Triple-Double In FIBA Friendly
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic bounced back from a losing performance in Slovenia's first friendly against Greece and registered a big triple-double in their win over Montenegro on Tuesday. The Slovenian superstar ended the game with 34 points, 14 assists, and 13 rebounds as the team grabbed a four-point win. There was a scary moment in their first game against Greece when Doncic left after banging knees, but his latest performance indicates that there aren't any lingering effects. Slovenia's next exhibition game will be against Team USA on Saturday.

Fri Aug 4 202317:20Luka Doncic Avoids Injury
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic banged knees during the first half of Friday's exhibition game. The superstar guard didn't play during the second half, which raised questions about his injury status. However, it appears Doncic was only scheduled to play during the first half of Slovenia's exhibition game against Greece. That means, Doncic didn't suffer an injury, so fantasy managers don't need to panic. It sounds like Doncic will be fine for when the FIBA World Cup begins at the end of August.

Sun Apr 9 202319:18Luka Doncic States He's Happy In Dallas
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic stated, "he's happy" being on the team while speaking to the media on Sunday. The MVP candidate acknowledged reports that he might request a trade this summer. Yet, that doesn't appear to be the case, despite his displeasure with the Mavs seemingly throwing up the white flag. Doncic had the best season of his career in 2022-23, averaging 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.4 steals. However, he hasn't played more than 66 games in each of the last four seasons. Without question, the 24-year-old will be a hot commodity during fantasy drafts heading into the 2023-24 campaign. But fantasy managers must acknowledge they will likely be without him at various times in the year, even if he ends up elsewhere.

Mon Apr 3 202315:01Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving Could Be Shut Down
Dallas Mavericks guards Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving might be shut down for the rest of the regular season. The Mavericks only have three games left and have almost fallen out of the playoff picture. That being said, the organization is considering sitting Doncic and Irving for the rest of the season. The Mavs are currently 1-7 in their last eight games. The hope was that the addition of Irving would boost their offense. However, the increase in offense hasn't been enough to overcome their poor defense. Fantasy managers should stay tuned to see if the Mavs are serious about sitting their two stars.

Sun Apr 2 202310:09Luka Doncic Has 42 Points In A Losing Effort
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic piled up 42 points Saturday against Miami but still couldn't lead the team to victory. The Heat triumphed 129-122, leaving Doncic and the Mavericks in a rough spot regarding their chances of extending the season. Doncic did very little wrong in the contest, shooting 17-for-25 from the field and notching 10 rebounds with eight assists and two steals. He played a massive 45 minutes despite Dallas having another game on Sunday versus Atlanta, so it's going to be interesting to see how Doncic handles the situation.

Mon Mar 27 202315:24Luka Doncic Available On Monday
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic will be available for Monday's game against the Indiana Pacers. The 24-year-old received his 16th technical foul on Sunday, which results in a one-game suspension. However, it appears that foul was rescinded by the league. That means, Doncic is available and should play his normal role in Monday's contest. This is a huge break for the Mavs who desperately need a win after losing four straight contests.

Mon Mar 27 202309:09Luka Doncic Receives A One-Game Suspension
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic has received an automatic one-game suspension for picking up his 16th technical foul of the season in Sunday's loss to Charlotte. Doncic balled out once again and missed a 40-point triple-double by only two assists, but he was yapping at the referees all game and the officials finally had enough midway through the third quarter. The 24-year-old reached 40 points with 12-for-29 shooting, and he completed his line with 12 rebounds, two steals and two blocks, whilst hitting seven shots from deep. Unless the technical gets rescinded, Doncic will be suspended for Monday's clash with Indiana. Kyrie Irving is set to take over the show in his absence, with Tim Hardaway Jr. likely moving to the starting unit.

Sat Mar 25 202310:08Luka Doncic Falls Just Short Of A Triple-Double Friday
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic was two assists short of a triple-double Friday against Charlotte, racking up 34 points and 10 rebounds in a 117-109 loss. Kyrie Irving added 18 points with nine rebounds and seven assists, but the Mavs fell to 3-7 in games where the team's star backcourt has played together. Doncic also had a 30-point double-double in his first game back from injury Thursday versus Golden State, but he shot much better this time, hitting 12-for-23 from the field with two makes from downtown. He picked up a block on the defensive end but also amassed five turnovers in 37 minutes. Luka will get his no matter what each night, but the state of things from the team's perspective is currently worrying for the Mavericks fans, as Dallas fell to 11th in the Western Conference Friday.

This marks five games in a row that Doncic has missed due to a strained left thigh. The Mavericks could be extremely shorthanded with Kyrie Irving (foot) and Tim Hardaway Jr. (illness) both questionable for this game. That being said, Josh Green, Jaden Hardy, and Christian Wood will be asked to pick up the slack during Monday's contest.

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (thigh) is questionable to play versus the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. Doncic has missed the past four games dealing with a thigh strain, but has a chance to return this week. Kyrie Irving (foot) is also questionable after coming back from a three-game absence.
