Sun Apr 13 201400:31Alec Burks fizzles in another start
Alec Burks started again on Saturday over Richard Jefferson, but struggled, hitting just 1-of-3 shots (a 3-pointer) for five points in a loss to Denver.
We're not sure what happened to Burks tonight, as he looked primed for a solid night in the starting lineup. He should be better in his next one. RJ had seven points in 26 minutes off the bench.

Sat Apr 12 201402:36Burks scores 16 points in starting lineup
Alec Burks moved into the starting lineup in Friday's loss to the Blazers, scoring 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds and two assists in a career-high 42 minutes.
Burks is going to get heavy run the rest of the way and is looking at a likely late-round floor for the rest of the year. He's worth a hard look despite his fantasy deficiencies in standard leagues.

Fri Apr 11 201420:25Alec Burks will start vs. Blazers
Alec Burks will start against the Blazers on Friday.
He will join Trey Burke, Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter. This is probably the best unit for the Jazz as far as talent goes, but their lack of depth has kept Burks on the bench. The move into the starting lineup doesn't help his fantasy value too much.

Tue Apr 1 201402:31Burks scores 17 points with big line in loss
Alec Burks scored 17 points off the bench in Monday's loss, hitting 7-of-12 shots (including two threes) with seven rebounds, four assists, five turnovers and one steal in 34 minutes.
Burks' line stands out for a team that looks like it has quit and for that fact alone he's worth a look in standard leagues. Just don't expect a lot since he'll have to shake season-long trends displaying a lack of versatility.

Sun Mar 30 201417:35Alec Burks scores 12 in return on Sunday
Alec Burks returned from an ankle injury on Sunday vs. the Thunder, playing 21 minutes with 12 points, three boards, one assist and one steal.
He missed the last four games due to a sprain and shot the ball well, making 5-of-10 from the field. Burks has improved in several areas since the break including increases in points, boards, assists, steals, field goal percentage and treys. He's a low-upside player with only three games this week.

Alec Burks (ankle) will play against the Thunder on Sunday.
He missed his last four games due to an ankle sprain and it's unknown if he'll be back around average of 27.7 minutes per game. Fantasy owners should probably steer clear of Burks today while Richard Jefferson also takes a hit.

Sun Mar 30 201413:47Alec Burks to test ankle in warmups on Sunday
Alec Burks will test his ankle in warmups on Sunday to determine whether he will play vs. OKC.
There is no official word yet as to whether he will play or not, so check back closer to the tip. If he is unable to go Diante Garrett and Marvin Williams will pick up a few more minutes off the bench, with Williams being the more intriguing add.

Sat Mar 29 201417:34Alec Burks (ankle) may return Sunday vs. OKC
Alec Burks (ankle) practiced on Saturday and he's listed as a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Thunder.
Burks didn't play Friday because he hadn't done much during recent practices and was out of shape, so his return to the court bodes well. Diante Garrett and Marvin Williams have each picked up a few more minutes off the bench in Burks' absence.

Fri Mar 28 201413:23Alec Burks out Friday against Pelicans
Alec Burks (ankle) won't play against New Orleans on Friday.
Burks told reporters that he wouldn't play Friday night and added, "I'm not in shape. I want to play some one on one, two on two first." Marvin Williams and Diante Garrett looked to be the beneficiaries of Burks' absence, but neither should have standard league owners running to their waiver wires.

Wed Mar 26 201413:02Alec Burks (ankle) out vs. Grizzlies on Wed.
Alec Burks (ankle) won't play vs. Memphis on Wednesday.
This marks Burks' second straight DNP and he was recently spotted in a walking boot, so there are no guarantees that he'll be ready for Friday's game vs. the Pelicans. Marvin Williams stepped up with 11 points in 30 minutes in Burks' absence on Monday, while Diante Garrett added four points and two assists in 21 minutes. There are no winners here for fantasy owners.

Tue Mar 25 201413:27Alec Burks doubtful for Weds vs Grizzlies
Alec Burks (ankle) is doubtful for Wednesday's game against Memphis.
With a doubtful designation given out on Tuesday, a lot will have to go right for Burks to play in Wednesday's game against the Grizz. We'll be on the lookout for updates, but if this news comes to fruition, Richard Jefferson would make for a solid fantasy play as he comes off five 3-pointer game on Saturday.

Mon Mar 24 201419:22Alec Burks still in a walking boot on Monday
Alec Burks was still in a walking boot before Monday's game.
He's obviously out tonight and he could miss Wednesday's game vs. the Grizzlies. Fantasy owners can move on from Burks while Richard Jefferson will look to build off his five-trey game on Saturday.

Sun Mar 23 201412:59Alec Burks (ankle) will not play on Monday
Alec Burks (ankle) will not suit up for Monday's game vs. the Pistons.
The fact that Burks has already been ruled out for Monday's game on a Sunday morning tells us that he's not close to returning. Burks' minutes will be split up between Brandon Rush, Diante Garrett, and Ian Clark making for a situation in which no player is worth an add. If you were holding onto Burks for some reason, now would be the time to cut bait.

Sat Mar 22 201419:24Alec Burks (ankle) won't play on Sat. night
Alec Burks (right ankle) will not play against the Magic on Saturday.
The Jazz run at a bit of a slower pace with Burks out and their bench takes a big blow tonight. Ian Clark has seen occasional first-quarter minutes this month and Brandon Rush could also get some extra run. Burks owners can probably cut bait at this point since he did arrive at the arena in a walking boot.

Sat Mar 22 201412:20Alec Burks (sprained ankle) doubtful Saturday
Alec Burks (sprained left ankle) is doubtful for Saturday's game vs. the Magic.
If Burks isn't able to suit up more minutes will fall to guys like Brandon Rush and Diante Garrett, but there's no clear winner from a fantasy perspective. Burks himself is averaging 14.4 points, 0.7 threes, 3.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals in nearly 29 minutes per game over the past month. He doesn't stand out in any category and is shooting just 69 percent from the FT line during that stretch, making him fodder for the waiver wire in typical fantasy leagues.

Wed Mar 19 201423:00Alec Burks scores 16 points off bench
Alec Burks played well of the bench vs. the Grizzlies on Wednesday, making 6-of-11 from the field for 16 points with six boards, four assists, one steal and two 3-pointers.
It's the first time he's hit multiple treys in a game since Mar. 8 and he was shooting just 31.8 percent from deep in his previous 10. During that stretch, Burks averaged 14.1 points, 3.3 boards, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals on 46.4 percent from the field, so he's been able to add stats in several areas. His game is starting to click and he should be owned in standard leagues.

Mon Mar 17 201423:06Alec Burks scores 15 points vs. Rockets
Alec Burks had a potent scoring line of 15 points in 18 minutes against the Rockets on Monday to go with one board, two assists, one steal and one block.
He shot 6-of-9 from the field, but did commit four turnovers and five fouls. Burks has a steal in eight consecutive games and he's also on pace to have the best month of his career based on assists per game. He's running the offense a lot more and the uptick in the two aforementioned areas has put him back on the radar as a player to own in standards.

Thu Mar 13 201400:23Alec Burks playing well for the Jazz
Alec Burks handed out a career-high eight assists against the Mavericks on Wednesday to go with 13 points, four boards and three steals in 32 minutes.
His usage rate continues to climb since the All-Star break and the Jazz clearly trust him as the facilitator of the offense. Burks can get to the rim like few other shooting guards and he's adding other facets to his game. He should be owned in standard leagues as long as you're not putting a premium on triples and field goal percentage.

Tue Mar 11 201401:49Burks scores 12 points with seven boards
Alec Burks scored 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting (no threes) with seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in 26 minutes on Monday.
Burks has eked out some late-round value over the last four games with averages of 30.9 minutes, 17.0 points, 1.5 treys, 2.8 boards, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals while hitting 57.5 percent of his shots. The shooting percentage is about 10 percent high and the threes and steals are unsustainable. Over the last 30 games he has been just a top 150-180 play. Perhaps our most recent blurb about him being 'solid' got a bit overoptimistic as owners try to squeeze value out of a fantasy-deficient player, unless you're punting half of your categories of course.

Sat Mar 8 201422:14Alec Burks scores 19 in win over Sixers
Alec Burks hit 6-of-10 shots and three 3-pointers for 19 points, two assists and two steals in Saturday's win over Philly.
Burks is hot, averaging 18.7 points over his last three games, and 15.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.2 3-pointers over his last five. He's also scored in double figures in 15 straight games, making his a solid option in most fantasy formats.
