Mon Apr 8 201313:15Alec Burks (ankle) misses practice on Monday
Alec Burks (ankle) did not practice on Monday, and his status for Tuesday against the Thunder is unknown.
Burks did not play on Sunday after suffering the injury on Friday. Mo Williams, who has been playing very well should get an even longer leash at point guard with Burks on the sidelines. Randy Foye is a candidate to pick up a few minutes.

Sat Mar 9 201302:15Burks plays 14 minutes in tight game
Alec Burks played just 14 minutes on Friday, scoring four points on 2-of-3 shooting with three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Burks has been making some noise lately but an outing like this should remind owners that his role is tenuous at best with Mo Williams back. It's probably safe to move on if you added him in a deeper format.

Wed Mar 6 201323:07Alec Burks scores 14 in 27 minutes
Alec Burks came off the bench to hit 6-of-12 shots and a 3-pointer for 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal in 27 minutes of Wednesday loss at Cleveland.
Burks had 19 on Monday and is coming on, scoring in double figures in seven of his last 10 games, and three straight, while he's played at least 25 minutes in every game since Feb. 4. He'll still have his ups and downs but given Utah's strong finishing schedule, may be worth a pickup in your league.

Mon Mar 4 201323:50Alec Burks scores 19 points vs. Bucks Monday
Alec Burks shot 7-of-10 from the field for 19 points to go with three boards, four assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes during Monday's 109-108 loss to the Bucks.
Earl Watson started at point guard and didn't score in 17 minutes. Burks has improved throughout the year and Ty Corbin said "we'll see" when asked about a possible change coming to the lineup. For the second time in five games, three of Utah's starters failed to score, which is ludicrous considering they scored 108 points tonight. While Burks looks good, Mo Williams (thumb) making his return would make it at timeshare at best for the point guard spot.

Wed Feb 20 201300:09Alec Burks plays well in 25 minutes vs. GSW
Alec Burks hit a big 3-pointer to cap his 13-point, four-assist game in a win over the Warriors on Tuesday.
He added three boards, two blocks and one other 3-pointer in 25 minutes of action. Burks has really turned it up lately especially with his 3-point shooting. The Jazz are going to have a tough time keeping him on the bench once Mo Williams comes back, so it's likely to be a very crowded backcourt. Despite the improved play, Burks isn't quite worth owning in standard leagues.

Thu Feb 14 201300:45Alec Burks fills stat sheet in win
Alec Burks had nine points, six rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 30 minutes on Wednesday.
He's playing very well in the absence of Gordon Hayward, who appears likely to return shortly after the All-Star break. But if Hayward's shoulder injury lingers, or he's traded Burks could enter must-own territory sooner than later. He scored 13 and 24 points in his previous two games, so keep a close eye on him.

Wed Feb 13 201300:14Alec Burks scores 13 in win over Thunder
Alec Burks had 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, a 3-pointer and six turnovers on 6-of-11 shooting in 25 minutes on Tuesday.
He's been playing well with Gordon Hayward sidelined with a shoulder injury, averaging 12.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.4 3-pointers over his last five games, and is a decent play on Wednesday, as Hayward has already been ruled out for that one. But once Hayward is back after the break, Burks should cool off.

Sun Feb 10 201301:20Alec Burks scores career-high 24 points
Alec Burks came off the bench to score a career-high 24 points on Saturday, making 7-of-15 FGs and 9-of-9 FTs in 27 minutes of action.
Burks said the Kings' passionate crowd reminded him of his college days, and he certainly played like it, adding three rebounds and one block as Utah's bench nearly clawed them back into the game. This was his second game in the past month with double-digit points, and Gordon Hayward (shoulder) will ultimately reduce Burks to an afterthought.

Sat Feb 9 201303:20Burks pedestrian in Friday's loss
Alec Burks scored five points on 2-of-6 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Burks has made some slight noise but he's not producing enough to be worth much attention in 12-14 team formats.

Thu Feb 7 201300:46Alec Burks plays well in 29 minutes
Alec Burks played 29 minutes off the bench against Milwaukee on Wednesday, scoring eight points with three rebounds, three assists and two 3-pointers.
He's now made his last five attempts from beyond the arc in his last three games. While he did turn the ball over a combined eight times in his last two games, Burks looks like part of Utah's plans in the backcourt even when Earl Watson can return.

Tue Feb 5 201301:24Alec Burks lives up to Corbin's pressure
Alec Burks played well off the bench with 14 points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and two 3-pointers on 5-of-7 shooting in 31 minutes against Sacramento on Monday.
He outplayed Jamaal Tinsley (no points in 22 minutes) and this could be the start of something for Burks. He came out of the University of Colorado as a slashing shooting guard, but coach Tyrone Corbin said he'll be putting more pressure on Burks to take over point guard duties. His defense has been a lot better and he could be worth an add for owners in 14-team leagues that need a guard.

Mon Feb 4 201320:52Corbin confirms that Burks will play more PG
Tyron Corbin said there is "a lot of pressure" on Alec Burks to play point guard with Mo Williams (thumb) and Earl Watson (leg) out indefinitely.
"We used him in spots before, now he's a guy we'll try to put the ball in his hands and get him to initiate sets more," Corbin said. Jamaal Tinsley played 33 minutes against the Blazers on Saturday, but Burks was able to log 19 minutes. Burks has also been horrendous at shooting the ball in his last four, making just 27.8 of his attempts, so he's only worth a look in deeper formats.

Thu Jan 10 201303:12Alec Burks logs a season-high 28 minutes
Alec Burks logged a season-high 28 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Bobcats and had 12 points, two rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.
He's been handed extra point guard duties with Mo Williams (thumb) out and he hasn't let down Ty Corbin yet. Burks has just two turnovers in the three games in which he's been handling the ball more often. He was known as a slasher at the University of Colorado, but his shots at the rim have dropped this year by 0.6 compared to last year. Consequently, his field goal percentage is just 36 percent on the season. Burks isn't a prolific 3-point shooter and his upside won't be that high, but he's worth keeping an eye on since Utah has won four of their last five games.

Tue Jan 8 201310:04Alec Burks could play more point guard
Alec Burks could play more point guard with Mo Williams (thumb) sidelined.
Burks had 13 points with four boards, a steal and a block on Monday, and Tyrone Corbin said "we'll see how it goes" when asked if Burks would keep consistent minutes at the point. Owners in deeper formats should keep an eye on him.

Tue Jan 8 201301:53Burks scores season-high 13 points
Alec Burks scored a season-high 13 points on 2-of-7 shooting (1-of-2 3PTs, 8-of-9 FTs) with four rebounds, one steal, and one block in 22 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Burks plays a little point guard at times but is mostly a shooting guard, and he's a guy to keep in the back of your mind in case he can take a step forward. For now he's still buried in the rotation, but he has some upside if everything breaks the right way.

Fri Dec 28 201209:54Alec Burks could play more with Randy Foye
Alec Burks could see more playing time alongside Randy Foye with Mo Williams (thumb) out indefinitely.
Burks played a season-high 24 minutes in his last game and responded with nine points, eight rebounds and two assists, so owners in deeper formats need to keep a close eye on him to see if he can contribute consistently now that he's in the rotation.

Thu Dec 27 201200:17Alec Burks plays a season-high 24 minutes
Alec Burks played a season-high 24 minutes against the Warriors and had nine points, eight rebounds and two assists in a 94-83 loss.
Burks was a bit of a fan favorite last year and he's coming off a 20-minute game on Sunday. He appears to be in the rotation with Mo Williams out, so deep league owners should have him on their radar for now.

Sun Nov 18 201209:54Report: Jazz willing to trade Alec Burks
The Jazz may be willing to trade second-year guard Alec Burks, according to Sam Amico.
This is firmly a rumor but it makes sense considering Utah has barely been able to sneak Burks into the rotation, and he recently called his lack of playing time "disappointing."

Tue Nov 6 201208:47Alec Burks frustrated by lack of playing time
Alec Burks said that his lack of playing time this season has been "disappointing," but Tyrone Corbin wants to find a way to get him into the rotation.
"He deserves to play, bottom line.," Corbin said. "Have to find ways to get him on the floor." Burks played six and a half minutes on Monday, his largest total of the season. The only statistic he has to show is one assist on the year, and even though Corbin wants to continue Burks' development, he has no fantasy value.

Mon Nov 5 201216:33Alec Burks may soon rejoin Jazz rotation
Alec Burks has been a healthy DNP-CD in the past two games, but Tyrone Corbin intends to get him back into the rotation.
Burks won't have fantasy value, but Utah would do well to continue his development. "It's tough to get guys minutes in the rotation and have them feel good about the minutes and how they're playing," said Corbin, who has also been shoe-horning Enes Kanter into the end of the rotation.
