Sat Mar 24 201201:22Anthony (ankle) starts against the Pistons
Joel Anthony (ankle) returned to action on Friday, scoring six points on 3-of-4 shooting with five rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in 18 minutes.
Maybe he should get injured more often because this is actually a good night for Anthony. Needless to say, there's nothing to see here, folks.

Tue Mar 20 201218:56Joel Anthony sidelined by sprained ankle
Joel Anthony (ankle) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Suns.
Anthony had started all 44 of the Heat's games this season, providing a defensive presence at 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per night. He sprained his left ankle during Sunday's win over the Magic. Seldom-used Dexter Pittman will make his first career start, while Udonis Haslem figures to see a little boost in minutes.

Fri Mar 16 201209:08Heat still looking to add another big man
The Heat are still looking to add another big man following Thursday's trade deadline.
Miami didn't acquire a big man in a trade, but that doesn't mean the team is done exploring the market. With an open roster spot, the Heat will exhaust all options, but there isn't a lot available on the market currently.

Wed Sep 7 201113:45Joel Anthony sitting out with ankle issue
Joel Anthony sat out Canada's most recent game in the Olympic qualifying tournament due to an ankle issue.
No word yet on the nature or severity of the issue, but it certainly doesn't sound like anything significant, which could also describe Anthony's fantasy value (2.0 points, 3.5 rebounds per game last year).

Mon May 9 201118:51Joel Anthony to start for Miami
Joel Anthony will start for the Heat in Monday's Game 4, sending Zydrunas Ilgauskas off the bench.
The move is being made due to Anthony's strong play, as well as to match up Ilgauskas with Shaquille O'Neal when he comes in off the bench. Additionally, it's being reported that the Heat's starting lineup tonight hasn't been used once this season.

Sun Apr 10 201119:13Joel Anthony scores seven, gathers 10 boards
Joel Anthony scored seven points and gathered ten rebounds in over 36 minutes of play in Sunday's win over the Boston Celtics.
The Celtics were outplayed in the paint when Anthony was on the floor. Unfortunately for fantasy owners this is about the ceiling of Anthony's performance.

Wed Mar 23 201112:33Anthony will play through fractured nose
Joel Anthony fractured his nose in two places last Friday but didn't miss any time and will play against the Pistons tonight.
Anthony will wear a Richard Hamilton style mask for his bit role off the bench.

Sun Jan 30 201115:48Joel Anthony blocks five in Sunday win
Joel Anthony blocked five shots and had six rebounds in the Heat's win over the Thunder on Sunday.
Anthony's five blocks is one short of his career high. Not surprisingly, he only managed to score two points making him a one-dimensional fantasy figure.
Wed Jan 26 201112:21James Jones, not Joel Anthony, to start Thu.
Joel Anthony will not start in place of Chris Bosh (ankle) in Thursday's game against the Knicks.
James Jones will start at small forward, with LeBron James playing power forward and Zydrunas Ilgauskus at center. It works against the Knicks' small lineup, but it's unclear if this is how the Heat will line up every night while Bosh is out. Regardless, Anthony remains a viable play if you're desperate for big man stats. In his last three games, Anthony has averaged 9.0 rebounds and 3.3 blocks a night. Note that Mike Miller is also coming off the bench, a hit to his value.

Tue Jan 18 201122:50Anthony grabs career-high 16 boards vs. ATL
Joel Anthony grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds with one steal and three blocks on Tuesday, and predictably did not score and did not attempt a shot.
He started for injured Chris Bosh and collected all of the rebounds that Bosh would have had. If you're desperate for boards and blocks, give him a look as long as Bosh is out.
Mon Jan 10 201101:41Joel Anthony does nothing in 29 minutes
Joel Anthony played 29 minutes on Sunday, but only managed to produce one turnover and four personal fouls.
Yes, Anthony played more than half the game without registering a single point, rebound, assist, block...nothing. We already knew he didn't have fantasy appeal, but this is astounding.
Mon Jan 3 201123:40Anthony has 11 rebounds for the Heat
Joel Anthony grabbed 11 rebounds for the Heat on Monday, but only added two points on 1-of-1 shooting with one assist to go with three blocks in 35 minutes.
Despite playing just 17 minutes per game, he was averaging 1.4 blocks per game before tonight. He does practically nothing elsewhere, but if he can learn to rebound he could prove useful in the future.
Sun Oct 31 201016:24J. Anthony blocks four shots in Sunday's win
Joel Anthony started and logged 24 minutes on Sunday, collecting one point, three rebounds, four blocks and a steal.
Anthony may be the most unproductive starter in the NBA right now - he's a fouling machine whose only role is to protect the basket, however recklessly. He doesn't deserve fantasy consideration of any kind.
Mon Oct 25 201020:36Anthony named starting center for Heat
Joel Anthony will be the Heat's starting center on Opening Night.
He will be the starter in name only and will not get the minutes to be a viable option in most fantasy leagues.

Thu Oct 14 201001:11Joel Anthony struggling for Heat
Joel Anthony had just two points, three rebounds and three blocks in a start for the Heat at center.
And this was without Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Anthony is a starting center in name only, and should generally be avoided in fantasy leagues.
Tue Oct 5 201012:29Anthony to start preseason opener
Joel Anthony will start the Heat's first preseason game at center.
Coach Erik Spoelstra will roll with Carlos Arroyo (Mario Chalmers is hurt) and Anthony along with his Big Three. Anthony will play a bit role as a shot blocker but won't log a ton of minutes. Zydrunas Ilgauskas and even Udonis Haslem can play some center. Anthony isn't on the fantasy radar.
