Wed Jul 30 201415:38Young out of lineup Wednesday
Young is out of the lineup Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Young is the odd outfielder out Wednesday with David Lough starting in left field and batting seventh for the Orioles. The veteran outfielder has seven hits in his last three games including a home run, but with a stacked outfield Young will likely continue to be in and out of the lineup.
Fri Jul 25 201401:03Young's 3-run dinger leads Orioles to victory
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Thursday's 4-0 triumph over the Mariners.
The obituary of Young's career has been written more than once, but as Twain once wrote, the reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated. Signed to a minor league deal over the winter, Young needed a Nolan Reimold injury to even make the Opening Day roster. Baltimore hasn't overexposed him, but don't think Young's damage is being done only against left-handers. In reality, he has a shocking .830 OPS against righties (tonight's homer came off right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma) and a terrible .265 OBP and .673 OPS against southpaws. He'll remain a riddle until his retirement is official. Overall, Young is slashing a healthy .317/.344/.455 over 123 at-bats.

Delmon Young went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays.
The homer, off of Mark Buehrle, was Young's second of the season and his first since April 8. Over 92 plate appearances, Young has a .295/.326/.409 slash line with nine RBI.

Wed Apr 9 201423:37Delmon Young goes 3-for-5 against Yanks
Getting another start after his big day Tuesday, Delmon Young went 3-for-5 with a double on Thursday.
Young was supposed to play against lefties, but after going 3-for-6 with a homer yesterday, he got the call again versus Masahiro Tanaka and capitalized. He's hit second each of the last two days. Prior to Tuesday, he hadn't occupied that spot in the lineup since one game in 2008.

Tue Apr 8 201417:10Delmon Young homers as O's thrash Yankees
Delmon Young went 3-for-6 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in Tuesday's 14-5 beatdown of the Yankees.
The Orioles pounded out 20 hits on the day and eight out of the nine hitters in the lineup had at least two hits. Young delivered an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning and a two-run blast -- his first home run of the season -- in the sixth. We're not expecting much from Young for fantasy purposes this year, but he could still be useful in a part-time role against left-handed pitching.

Mon Mar 31 201418:43Delmon Young goes hitless as DH
Delmon Young had a lousy day as the Orioles' designated hitter Monday, going 0-fo-r3 with a strikeout.
Young hacked away against Jon Lester and looked awful doing so. He grounded into a double play his first time up, and he went down swinging in his last at-bat. He'll probably find himself on the bench in favor of David Lough on Wednesday.

Sun Mar 30 201415:50Delmon Young added to Orioles' roster
Orioles purchased the contract of OF Delmon Young from Triple-A Norfolk.
Nolan Reimold getting injured again opened up the door for Young to make the roster. He should see some playing time at DH and in left field versus lefties.

Wed Mar 26 201421:10Young, Pearce likely to make Orioles roster
With Nolan Reimold headed to the disabled list, Delmon Young will likely make the Orioles' Opening Day roster.
Young is in camp as a non-roster invitee, and Reimold's injury opens the door for him to head north with the club. The Orioles signed Young to a minor league contract in January after he split time between the Phillies and Rays last season. The 28-year-old was batting .286 in Grapefruit League games heading into Wednesday night's action. Steve Pearce, another player competing for a bench job, also has a good shot to make the team in Reimold's absence.

Thu Mar 13 201417:38Delmon Young goes 0-for-4 in loss
Delmon Young went 0-for-4 against the Yankees as the Orioles were shut out Thursday.
Young became redundant in Baltimore with the Nelson Cruz signing, but technically, the team still has room for both if it wants to play one in left field most of the time. Young, though, hasn't shown anything to make it more likely the team will go that route. He's currently 4-for-24 with no homers and no walks.

Sun Mar 2 201417:03Showalted impressed by Delmon Young
Orioles manager Buck Showalted admitted Sunday that he's been impressed by what he's seen of Delmon Young so far this spring.
The 28-year-old outfielder is a clear liability in the outfield, but could work his way onto the O's roster as a right-handed bat off the bench and designated hitter option.

Mon Jan 13 201418:52Delmon Young inks minors deal with Orioles
Orioles signed OF/DH Delmon Young to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Young shouldn't have trouble earning an Opening Day roster spot, as there's playing time available for him at designated hitter and possibly left field. The 28-year-old hit .260/.307/.407 with 11 home runs and 38 RBI in 103 games between the Phillies and Rays in 2013. He's a career .303/.341/.471 hitter against left-handed pitching.

Mon Jan 13 201414:39Orioles interested in signing Delmon Young
According to MASN's Roch Kubatko, the Orioles are interested in signing Delmon Young to a minor league deal.
Young will be at Orioles minicamp this week, presumably for a tryout and physical exam. The 28-year-old hit .260/.307/.407 with 11 home runs and 38 RBI in 103 games between the Phillies and Rays and 2013. He could serve as a part-time DH in 2014 for the Orioles.

Wed Dec 11 201310:51Marlins have interest in FA Delmon Young
According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, the Marlins have expressed interest in Delmon Young.
Miami would presumably ask the 28-year-old free agent to play first base. Young batted .260 with a weak .715 OPS in 103 games this year between the Phillies and Rays. He can probably be had on a one-year contract.

Sun Dec 8 201318:52Delmon Young looking to improve versatility
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Delmon Young has been working out at first base in an effort to improve his versatility.
Still just 28-years-old, Young has declared himself 100% healthy. He's also dropped a significant amount of weight this offseason, reportedly tipping the scales at just 219 pounds. While he's a butcher in the outfield, he's proven that he can still be effective at the dish, especially against left-handed pitching, and should be able to find another team willing to take a chance on him.

Wed Oct 2 201323:48Young hits only homer in win over Indians
Delmon Young hit a solo home run, the only homer hit in the game, in the Rays' win over the Indians on Wednesday.
The Young signing was mocked after the hapless Phillies released him in mid-August, but he got the last laugh on Wednesday when he turned around a Danny Salazar fastball to get the Rays on the board in the third inning. It was his only hit of the night.

Sat Sep 7 201301:52Delmon Young hits first homer for Rays
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 and hit his first homer for the Rays since 2007 against the Mariners on Friday.
Young is 5-for-12 since rejoining his original team on Sept. 1. He was expected to play mostly against lefties, but he got the nod against a righty in Hisashi Iwakuma tonight. Maybe he'll have some value in AL-only leagues after all.

Sun Sep 1 201309:13Rays recall Delmon Young from Double-A
Rays recalled OF/DH Delmon Young from Double-A Montgomery.
Still just 27-years-old, Young returns to the place where he made his Major League debut in 2006. Before getting released by the Phillies in mid-August, he was hitting .261/.302/.397 with eight homers, 31 RBI and a 69/14 K/BB ratio in 272 at-bats. The reigning ALCS MVP, Young has shown the ability to get hot and carry a team in the postseason.

Thu Aug 22 201312:34Tampa Bay reaches deal with Delmon Young
Rays signed OF Delmon Young to a minor league contract; assigned him to Double-A Montgomery.
Young got released by the Phillies last Wednesday and was almost immediately tied to the Rays, the team that drafted him first overall in 2003. Young hit just .261/.302/.397 in 80 games with Philadelphia and probably won't suddenly catch fire if he makes it to Tampa Bay.

Fri Aug 16 201310:15'Mutual interest' between Rays, Delmon Young
Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that there "appears to be mutual interest and conversations" between the Rays and Delmon Young.
Topkin notes that Young "would welcome the chance to rejoin his original team", and the Rays "could use another right-handed bat." It's an interesting potential reunion, but it remains to be seen how useful Young's bat is at this point. He's hitting only .266/.300/.402 since the beginning of 2011 and batted .261/.302/.397 in 80 games with Philadelphia before being released earlier this week.

Wed Aug 14 201316:55Phillies officially release OF Delmon Young
Phillies released OF Delmon Young.
Young was designated for assignment by the Phillies last Friday and declined a spot at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday. The 27-year-old is now free to sign with any team for the major league minimum. He batted just .261/.302/.397 in 80 games with Philadelphia.
