Fri Aug 9 201314:14Delmon Young designated for assignment
Phillies designated OF Delmon Young for assignment.
Young missed the first month of the season due to injury and then batted just .261/.302/.397 with eight homers over 80 games for the Phillies while playing horrid defense in the outfield. He's still just 27 and will get another chance, but it's hard to see him being a very productive player anymore.

Fri Aug 2 201323:23Young has three hits, homer in loss to Braves
Delmon Young went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in a loss to the Braves on Friday.
Young had half of the Phillies' hits on the night. The home run was his eighth of the season and his first since June 26. While the 27-year-old outfielder got off to a really slow start this season, he's hitting .336 over his last 31 games. Still, he's only an option in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Fri Jul 12 201321:55Young is 0-for-6 over last two games
Delmon Young is 0-for-6 over his last two games.
Prior to Wednesday, Young had been Mexico hot, producing a .431/.473/.549 slash line over his previous 14 games. As a free-swinger with less patience than a child watching Lincoln, Young is prone to long spells of ineptness cut with short bursts of transcendence. Batting .268/.323/.419, we aren't proponents of Young's fantasy ability.

Sat Jun 29 201301:43Delmon Young knocks in six for Phillies
Delmon Young went 3-for-6 with a double and six RBI in the Phillies' 16-1 drubbing of the Dodgers on Friday.
The brutal defeat ended with Skip Schumaker pitching for the Dodgers. Young became the first player since Houston's Angel Sanchez on Aug. 3, 2010 to drive in six runs without hitting a homer. He's gone 9-for-17 with a homer and eight RBI in his last three games, so it looks like he'll be a fixture in the Phillies lineup for a while longer.

Thu Jun 27 201302:28Delmon Young hits big homer for Phillies
Delmon Young went 2-for-4 with a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth as the Phillies beat the Padres 7-5 in 13 innings Wednesday.
The Phillies scored their two runs in the seventh on a double-error from second baseman Logan Forsythe. Young was long gone by then, having been removed in favor of Ben Revere. He entered with a poor .222/.278/.389 line in 144 at-bats, but he helped his case for playing time tonight. The homer came off Luke Gregerson, who was limiting right-handers to a .162 average this season.

Mon Jun 24 201303:40Young goes 0-for-3 Sunday against the Mets
Delmon Young went 0-for-3 Sunday against the Mets.
Slowly but surely, the former 1st-overall pick is playing himself out of the league and we suspect only minor league offers will be available to him this winter. Young, an ill-tempered atrocious fielder with an increasingly impotent bat, is now hitting .220/.277/.390 with six homers and 17 RBI in 41 games.

Wed May 22 201322:01Delmon Young homers for second straight game
Delmon Young homered for the second straight game in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.
Young also added an infield single and a pair of runs scored. His solo shot to left field in the fourth inning got the scoring started for the Phils, and it's all the scoring Cliff Lee needed. Young is still batting just .233/.304/.450 for the season but could be heating up.

Sat May 18 201319:22Delmon Young goes 0-for-4 in Phillies' loss
Delmon Young finished 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the Phillies' loss to the Reds on Saturday.
Young is now batting .208/.286/.333 with 11 strikeouts in 15 games with Philly. He has good raw power, but the 27-year-old isn't worth the trouble in most mixed leagues.

Wed May 8 201319:10Delmon Young goes hitless in loss
Delmon Young went 0-for-3 with a sac fly on Wednesday and is hitting .130 since coming off the disabled list.
Young went 2-for-3 with a homer in his season debut April 28, but he's just 1-for-20 since. Obviously, his glove won't be keeping him in the lineup, so it'd be for the best if he starts hitting soon.

Thu May 2 201314:58Delmon Young starting in right field
Delmon Young is starting in right field Thursday for the first time since the 2007 season.
Young was able to DH in the Phillies' previous two games in Cleveland but will have to play the outfield now that the Phillies are back to facing National League clubs. It probably isn't going to be a pretty sight.

Wed May 1 201315:22Delmon Young at DH again Wednesday
Delmon Young will serve as the designated hitter again Wednesday against the Indians.
Young went 2-for-3 with solo homer Tuesday in his return from the disabled list. It's unclear whether the Phillies think he can play everyday in right field -- of course, we already know the answer -- so those in mixed leagues can afford to wait and see.

Tue Apr 30 201322:22Delmon Young homers in first game back
Delmon Young went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, but the Phillies lost to the Indians on Tuesday.
Young homered in his first at-bat of the season and added a single later. Given Domonic Brown's struggles, Young should see plenty of at-bats now that he's healthy. Still, the upside is limited and Young should probably be left for NL-only leagues at the current time.

Tue Apr 30 201313:31Phils activate Delmon Young (ankle) from DL
Phillies activated OF Delmon Young from the 15-day disabled list.
This confirms a report by Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com. Young is expected to serve as the club's regular right fielder now that he's fully recovered from ankle surgery, but the Phillies will ease him into action as a designated hitter for their series against the Indians this week. Per the terms of his contract, he will receive a $250,000 bonus for being added to the active roster.

Tue Apr 30 201312:52Delmon Young joining Phils in Cleveland
Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports that that Delmon Young (ankle) is on his way to join the Phillies in Cleveland.
It isn't confirmed that he'll be activated, but the Phillies could ease him into action as the designated hitter under American League rules. Young, who had offseason surgery on his ankle, batted .367 (11-for-30) with two doubles and two RBI over seven rehab games with High-A Clearwater and Triple-A Lehigh Valley. His defense will be problematic, but he should be worth using in NL-only and deeper mixed formats.

Mon Apr 22 201309:36Young plays ugly defense in first rehab game
Delmon Young (ankle) went 1-for-4 in his first rehab game Sunday with the High-A Clearwater Threshers.
Young looked awful on defense, misplaying one ball in right field that led to a triple and later committing a blatant fielding error. "Obviously, we want his bat, but if he can't play defense, he can't play in the National League," Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Sunday. "He's going to have to be adequate out there." Young is recovering from microfracture ankle surgery.

Delmon Young (ankle) is scheduled to play three straight seven-inning games in the outfield in extended spring training from Thursday through Saturday.
The Phillies will decide at that time when he will begin a rehab assignment. Young is progressing slowly but surely from offseason ankle surgery and should be ready to join the Phillies' lineup sometime next month.

Delmon Young (ankle) will play three innings in right field Tuesday in an extended spring training game.
Young has played some games in the DH spot, but this will be the first time he's played the field. The Phillies remain hopeful that he'll be ready to go in early May, though that's not a firm timetable.
