The Diamondbacks traded Ramirez to the Mariners on Monday.

The 26-year-old righty has pitched to a 4.11 ERA with the Diamondbacks this year, but was most recently plying his craft for Triple-A Reno, where he owned a shinier 2.88 ERA, but just an 18:10 K:BB. He'll report to the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma and try to work his way up to the big club.

Ramirez was outrighted to Triple-A on Thursday, the Arizona Republic's Zach Buchanan reports.

He passed through waivers and will offer organizational bullpen depth at the Triple-A level. While he could be recalled later this season, he likely won't be used in a high-leverage role.

Ramirez was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

The team needed to clear a spot on the roster for Allen Webster, Saturday's starter against San Francisco, and Ramirez was the casualty. Ramirez has posted a 4.11 ERA in 12 appearances with the big club this year, but his FIP is close to a run lower at 3.29.

Ramirez gave up a run on two hits and two walks Sunday against the Mets. He struck out one.

Ramirez is having a tough season, posting a 5.11 ERA and 1.54 WHIP on the season in 12.1 innings, but Sunday's outing was notable for the fact the Mets stole four bases in his lone inning of work. Prior to Sunday, Ramirez had only given up one stolen base, but the D-Backs have been working with him on a quicker move to the plate. The 26-year-old does not hold value in almost any fantasy leagues right now.

Ramirez earned the win in his first appearance of the season on Sunday as allowing just one run over 2.2 innings of relief against the Padres, striking out three and walking one.

Starter Daniel Hudson didn't make it through the fourth inning in this one, so Ramirez was called upon to bridge the gap to the bullpen and did so effectively. The 26-year-old had pitched well at Triple-A Reno this season and could stick in the D-backs bullpen as a long reliever.

Ramirez has not allowed a run in 11 appearances for the Aces, so the promotion was certainly deserved. He'll provide bullpen depth in middle relief for the Diamondbacks.
