Haren threw six shutout innings on Saturday, scattering four hits and striking out four without walking a batter, to pick up his third win of the season.
After somewhat reluctantly taking his talents to South Beach in the offseason, Haren now sports an excellent 2.70 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in five starts for the Marlins. His 21:8 K:BB ratio and six home runs allowed in 30 innings point to some regression headed his way, but next week's road start in pitcher-friendly San Francisco could see him continue his impressive run for at least one more week.

Haren picked up his second win of the season Sunday against the Nationals, tossing five innings of two-run ball.
Haren allowed three hits and walked three with three strikeouts in the outing spending 91 pitches to get through five innings. The veteran right-hander was once again hurt by the long ball, allowing his sixth home run of the season in just four starts. Even with the homer problems, Haren has been solid so far with his new team, compiling a 3.38 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 24 innings pitched. He'll take the mound again on Saturday against the Phillies.

Haren was hurt by the long ball Tuesday in a loss to the Phillies, allowing a pair of two-run home runs over six innings.
Haren was uncharacteristically wild in the loss, walking three and throwing just 62 of his 97 pitches for strikes. He did rack up seven strikeouts and is sitting with a solid 3.32 ERA with 14 strikeouts against five walks through three starts (19 IP) this season. He'll look to keep the ball in the yard when he takes on the Nationals on Sunday in Miami.

Haren struck out five and walked two while holding the Braves to two runs on three hits over seven innings to earn his first win as a member of the Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.
Both runs came on solo homers (courtesy of Cameron Maybin and Kelly Johnson), and Haren worked with the luxury of a four-run lead after five frames Wednesday. Haren will get two turns in the rotation next week, first against the Phillies on the road Tuesday before an April 26 home start against Washington.

Haren tossed three shutout innings Monday against the Nationals, allowing one hit and striking out three in his second appearance of the spring.
After a rough outing in his Marlins' debut, the veteran right-hander looked sharp in his second Grapefruit League effort. Despite questions surrounding his status following an offseason trade to Miami, Haren is settling in nicely with his new team. Haren spun 186 effective innings for the Dodgers last season with a 4.02 ERA and 1.18 WHIP and is in line to enter the season as the Marlins' No. 4 starter.

Haren is expected to start the Marlins' Grapefruit League opener Thursday, Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post reports.
After an offseason of insistence on playing close to home in the west coast, Haren is honoring his contract and will likely work in the Marlin's rotation. The key aspect to watch will be the 34-year-old's ability to use his four-seamer, sinker, and cutter to prevent hard contact, as he's allowed a brutally bad 1.4 home runs per nine innings in the last three seasons. His velocity has also declined, so don't be surprised if he walks onto the mound with an 85-mph fastball.

Haren confirmed his commitment to the Marlins for the 2015 season, informing manager Mike Redmond of his decision on the first day of spring training.
Haren had expressed a desire to pitch on the west coast, also considering retirement at one point, but he has now decided to join the Marlins instead. The 34-year-old was traded to the club from the Dodgers in the offseason, and will now serve around a decent corps of pichers in the Marlins' rotation.

Haren recently told the Marlins that he is ready to be a part of their pitching staff, mlb.com reports.
Haren initially voiced a desire to be traded to a team on the west coast, but it's possible that he's warming to the idea of pitching in Miami. It's also possible that the Marlins are looking for a trade, in which case it might be beneficial to say that the 34-year-old hurler figures to pitch somewhere this season, following a December trade from the Dodgers.

Haren (shoulder) plans to report to spring training with the Marlins, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
Haren was reported to be considering retirement, due to a strong preference to be near his family on the west coast. He probably still wants to be traded, and it may be the case that he's hoping the Marlins work something out before the end of spring training. Haren underwent arthroscopic surgery on his non-throwing shoulder in October, and while that shouldn't be a major issue, teams may want to see him healthy. It's also possible that Haren has simply warmed to the idea of pitching for the Marlins, with the team's roster looking improved from last season. Whatever the case may be, the Dodgers are on the hook for all of Haren's salary, so it makes no sense for the Marlins to simply let him retire. A decent starting pitcher with no salary attached is a very valuable asset, and the Marlins could surely get something interesting in a trade.

Haren (shoulder) has told the Marlins that he will consider retiring if he is not sent back to a team on the west coast, although he has not yet said he will not pitch in Miami under any circumstances, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Juan Rodriguez reports.
This has been widely speculated, but it is worth noting that no progress has been made on Miami's end to convince Haren to pitch for them in 2015. The Marlins may just call Haren's bluff, as he would be leaving $10 million on the table if he were to retire, although we saw with A.J. Burnett in Philadelphia last season that an unhappy veteran pitcher is often times an ineffective pitcher. The Marlins will surely explore the trade market, calling teams like the Padres and Angels about potential Haren deals, as this situation remains quite murky.
Wed Dec 10 201419:05Dan Haren: Sent to Miami; Considering Retirement
Haren (shoulder) has been traded to the Marlins as part of a six-player swap that also sent Dee Gordon to Miami, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. According to several media reports, Haren is considering retirement.
Haren wants to remain close to his family, and has previously indicated that he will retire if he is traded to a team other than the Angels. Perhaps another move is in the offing, but it's entirely possible that Haren will never throw a pitch for the Marlins, but the Dodgers are off the hook for his 2015 salary and were able to acquire left-hander Andrew Heaney as part of the deal with the Marlins.
Thu Oct 30 201418:22Dan Haren: Picks Up His Option
Haren has exercised his player option to return to the Dodgers for next year, the team's official site reports.
Haren recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his non-throwing shoulder, but he should be ready to take part in the Dodgers' spring training. He posted a 4.02 ERA with a WHIP of 1.177 over 186 innings this season, will likely keep him in his current role of a starting pitcher behind the Dodgers two stars.

Haren underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder on Wednesday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The procedure was done to deal with slight swelling in his shoulder, though it apparently wasn't serious enough to hold him out from any action during the season. He'll begin the rehab process in a week, and expects to be back to full health for spring training.
Mon Oct 6 201412:30Haren tentatively scheduled to start Game 4 against Cardinals
Haren is tentatively scheduled to start Game 4 against the Cardinals, the team's official site reports.
Tentatively meaning Haren could be used in Game 3 should Hyun-Jin Ryu struggle in his return from a shoulder injury. In addition, should the Dodgers lose Game 3, manager Don Mattingly could be tempted to bring back Clayton Kershaw on short rest.

Haren will pitch Saturday but will be on a pitch count and inning limit, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.
There was speculation that Haren would be held out of Saturday's start altogether with the division already clinched, but the team decided to go a different route. With Hyun-Jin Ryu's status still unclear for the postseason, Haren may be in line to start Game 3 of the NLDS if he can't go.

Haren, who is currently in line to start Saturday's game against the Rockies, might not get the start given that the club has clinched the NL West title, the Dodgers' official site reports.
Haren could be needed for Game 3 of the NLDS given the uncertain status of Hyun-Jin Ryu's shoulder. Either way, it appears unlikely Haren will go deep into the game even if he does get one more regular season start.

Haren crossed the 180 innings mark in Monday's loss to the Giants, thus triggering his $10 million player option for 2015.
Haren has had some ups and downs this year, but he now has a 1.89 ERA in his last six starts to lower his overall ERA to 4.03. At 34, he could have one more multi-year deal coming his way given the strong finish, and with Josh Beckett off the books this winter, look for the Dodgers to make every effort to bring him back.

Haren allowed two runs (one earned) on only one hit with no walks and seven strikeouts in an extra-inning loss Monday to the Giants.
Haren's stellar outing was ruined by poor defense, as the Dodgers committed three errors and could have easily been credited with two more. Aside from a hiccup in Colorado, the riht-hander has been outstanding over his last six starts and sports a 1.89 ERA over that span. Haren will cap of the regular season versus the Rockies this weekend.
Fri Sep 19 201411:41Haren threw bullpen session at Wrigley Field on Friday
Haren threw a bullpen session at Wrigley Field on Friday, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
Haren is now in a routine that would set him up to pitch a big game Monday against the Giants. Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) was previously tossed around as a potential candidate to make that Monday start, but Don Mattingly called that notion "a stretch" on Thursday. With Ryu likely out of the mix, Haren is now set to take the hill in what could be a deciding game in the final NL West standings. Although Haren was touched up for five earned runs his last time out in Colorado, he had allowed just two earned runs over his previous four starts combined.
Fri Sep 19 201411:12Haren currently slated to pitch Sunday against Cubs
Haren is currently slated to pitch Sunday against the Cubs, but he could be held back for Monday's opener against the Giants, the Dodgers' official site reports.
Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) is another option for Monday, but he's iffy at best to be ready for that start it appears. Stay tuned.
