With Rob Wooten optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Blazek figures to open his season working out of the Brewers' bullpen, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Blazek worked as both a starter and reliever in the minor leagues last season, but the Brewers have kept him stretched out during spring training, even though he'll be a part of the bullpen. The 26-year-old thus figures to work as a sixth starter and long man, leaving him just one injury away from a possible spot in the starting rotation.

Blazek will be stretched out as a starting pitcher during spring training, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Blazek was moved from Triple-A Nashville's bullpen to their starting rotation mid-way through last season, and he will remain in that role in 2015. Blazek has made just 87 starts since becoming a professional in 2007, but he heads into spring training as the seventh starting pitcher on the Brewers' depth chart.

Sun Feb 23 201419:49Michael Blazek could be used in setup role
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke indicated Sunday that Michael Blazek could be used in a setup capacity at some point during the 2014 season.
Roenicke explained, "Whether it's this year or later on, somewhere along the line he's going to be an eighth-inning guy. He's going to be late in games." The hard-throwing hurler should be able to secure a spot in the Opening Day rotation, and appears destined to work himself into the seventh or eighth-inning role as long as he pitches well.
