Sun Jan 29 201217:39Barbosa (ankle) out, Raptors shake-up lineup
Leandro Barbosa will not play on Sunday against the Nets due to a sprained left ankle.
In addition, Raptors coach Dwane Casey has decided to make a few changes to the starting lineup, including inserting Jerryd Bayless. Bayless will be joined by Jose Calderon, DeMar DeRozan, James Johnson and Amir Johnson in the starting five. This is huge news for Bayless, who has been playing well ever since returning from an ankle injury. However, we will need to see how this new lineup looks before we recommend moving on Bayless.

Wed Jan 25 201200:32Leandro Barbosa on fire for Raptors
Leandro Barbosa came off the bench for 19 points, a steal, a block and three 3-pointers on Tuesday as the Raptors beat the Suns.
Barbosa played 31 minutes and has now hit double figures in scoring in nine of his last 10 games. And in seven of those, he scored at least 15, and has hit 15 treys over his last nine games. He's not starting, but the minutes and production have been there long enough that he looks like a very solid pickup in nearly all formats.

Fri Jan 20 201223:51Barbosa scores 17 points against Blazers
Leandro Barbosa scored 17 points with Andrea Bargnani (calf) out on Friday, but hit just 5-of-16 shots from the field (including a three) with one rebound, two assists, and two steals in 27 minutes.
Raptors TV led their pregame coverage with the fact that Barbosa is called upon to score when Bargnani is out, illustrating how blatant it is that the Raptors turn to him in these spots. If Bargnani misses Sunday's game, look for Barbosa to provide a similar result and hit a few more shots.

Thu Jan 19 201203:34Leandro Barbosa cools off on Wednesday
Leandro Barbosa cooled off on Wednesday, hitting just 3-of-7 shots for six points in 21 minutes.
He came in hot, hitting double figures in six straight and scoring 20 or more points in three of his last four games. We're just going to call Wednesday an off night, but as long as he's coming off the bench, some inconsistency is to be expected.

Mon Jan 16 201219:34Barbosa scores 22 points off the bench
Leandro Barbosa scored 22 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 8-of-15 shots from the field (including two threes) with four rebounds and one assist in 30 minutes.
Barbosa's scoring is needed with Andrea Bargnani (calf) out. Bargnani is questionable for Wednesday's game, and if he is out then Barbosa stands a good chance of repeating tonight's result.

Wed Jan 11 201222:15Barbosa scores season-high 24 in loss
Leandro Barbosa scored a season-high 24 points on 11-of-18 shooting in 24 minutes on Wednesday.
He added two assists and hit two 3-pointers, and has scored in double digits in three straight. With Rasual Butler and James Johnson struggling at small forward, and DeMar DeRozan slumping at shooting guard, Barbosa is getting more opportunities. He's not a must-own player, but should be monitored closely going forward.

Fri Jan 6 201222:17Leandro Barbosa struggling for Raptors
Leandro Barbosa scored just two points on 1-of-5 shooting in 15 minutes off the bench on Friday.
There is clearly something going on here that isn't being reported, and being a borderline player to own already Barbosa can be dropped in 12-team formats. He is no longer a must-own player in 14-team formats, but we expect him to pick it up at some point.

Fri Dec 30 201123:21Barbosa scores 20 points off the bench
Leandro Barbosa scored 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting (including two threes) with two rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 31 minutes on Friday.
Barbosa is always a good bet for low-end value that generally puts him in the 12-14 team range when it's all said and done. The key here will be watching the status of Jerryd Bayless, who left with an ankle injury tonight. If Bayless will miss significant time, then Barbosa will be a must-add player versus the borderline one he is right now.

Mon Dec 26 201122:36Leandro Barbosa scores 14 off Raps bench
Leandro Barbosa ahd 14 points and four assists in 22 minutes of Monday's win.
He's always worth keeping an eye on, but will struggle to have fantasy value playing behind DeMar DeRozan.

Leandro Barbosa is dealing with a sore back and Rasual Butler tweeked and ankle in Raptors practice.
Neither injury sounds too serious and we're guessing both will be fine by opening night.

Sun Nov 27 201110:11Leandro Barbosa not thrilled to leave Brazil
Leandro Barbosa, who has been playing for Flamengo in Brazil during the lockout, did not sound pleased with the agreement on a new CBA.
"We were planning a big Christmas with family [in Brazil] and do not think it will happen," said Barbosa. "It is not yet official, but it's a shame ... like it or not I have a contract to perform [in the NBA] and I have to go back." He's a professional and will surely put his disappointment behind him once he joins the Raptors (training camp will likely begin Dec. 9).

Thu Aug 18 201110:20Barbosa to play in Brazil during the lockout
Leandro Barbosa will play with Flamengo in Brazil during the lockout.
Barbosa will return to the Raptors when the work stoppage is resolved, and it's hardly surprising that he's returning to Brazil during the lockout. He has one year and $7.6 million remaining on his current deal with Toronto.

Sat Jun 25 201117:02Leandro Barbosa picks up $7.6 million option
Leandro Barbosa has picked up his $7.6 million contract option for next season.
LB wasn't going to earn that much as a free agent, though the Raptors have expressed a willingness to re-sign him (or extend his contract). He averaged 13.3 points and 2.1 assists in something of a down season last year, appearing in just 58 games due to injuries.

Mon Jun 13 201109:22Barbosa to get multi-year deal from Raptors?
After Leandro Barbosa stated that he might opt out of the final season in his contract, Raptors General Manager Bryan Colangelo said that the team is in his position to give the guard a multi-year deal this summer.
Barbosa probably isn't worth the $7.6 million salary that he's scheduled to collect next season, but Colangelo called him "one of my favorite players" and it's possible that he might be back on a multi-year deal next year. However, his most prolific days may be behind him, and it's also a realistic scenario that Barbosa winds up overseas in the face of a potential lockout.

Fri Jun 10 201109:56Leandro Barbosa may opt out, sign w/ Brazil
According to his brother, Raptors guard Leandro Barbosa is considering declining his $7.6 million option and signing in Brazil this season.
More details should be forthcoming, and it's possible this would simply be Barbosa's fallback plan if a lockout (and subsequent loss of salary) appears imminent. We learned in May that LB has a chronic wrist issue that won't get better, and his best playing days appear to be in the rearview.

Wed May 18 201109:32Barbosa will just have to deal with wrist
GM Bryan Colangelo admitted that Leandro Barbosa's wrist injury is something that's "going to be there for the rest of his life, career."
Barbosa ended up not needing surgery, but it sounds like this issue is chronic. Considering the damage is to his shooting wrist, there is reason to be concerned. Barbosa has averaged just 57.3 games played over the last three seasons and will be an injury risk again next year.

Mon Apr 18 201110:24Leandro Barbosa's finger doesn't need surgery
Leandro Barbosa will not need surgery on his injured finger.
This comes from the same doctor who performed surgery on Nets guard Deron Williams. Barbosa dealt with a myriad of injuries all season, but the fact that he doesn't need surgery bodes well for the prognosis of his injury.

Sun Apr 10 201121:29Barbosa won't play again Monday
Leandro Barbosa (finger) will not play in Monday's game against the Bucks.
Barbosa is likely done for the season due to this finger injury. He has played in just 58 games in his first season outside of Phoenix, averaging 13.3 points in 24 minutes. Barbosa projects as a bench player next season as well.

Sun Apr 10 201117:26Barbosa to miss third game with finger injury
Leandro Barbosa will miss his third consecutive game on Sunday due to an injured right pinky finger.
The Raptors will have to rely on big minutes from DeMar DeRozan and Jerryd Bayless in the backcourt with Barbosa, Sonny Weems (knee) and Jose Calderon (hamstring) all out.

Fri Apr 8 201118:29Leandro Barbosa out again on Friday
Leandro Barbosa (finger) will miss another game on Friday vs. Philadelphia.
Sonny Weems stepped up in his absence on Wednesday, so look for more of the same tonight. Consider Barbosa iffy to return Sunday against the Nets in Toronto.
