Batum (back) will not start Wednesday's game against the Jazz.

Reports earlier Wednesday suggested that Batum would get the start after sitting out Tuesday, but it's in fact Allen Crabbe who will start at small forward. There is still a chance Batum could see some minutes off the bench, however.

Batum is not going to light the net on fire, but his ability to contribute across the board makes him one of those players who can help elevate a fantasy roster to a championship. He is averaging 13.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 2.3 three-pointers over his last seven games and should continue to be a valuable asset as Portland fights for playoff positioning.

Batum dished out a season-high 12 assists in a win over the Raptors Friday. He also had 10 points (3-5 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and three steals in 34 minutes.

Batum is known for his high assist numbers, ranking second among all small forwards in assists per game, behind only LeBron James. He also has 10 or more points in five of his past six games and is averaging 7.8 rebounds in March.

Batum had another strong showing in Wednesday's win over the Rockets, finishing with 18 points (7-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, six assists and a steal in 40 minutes.

Batum is on fire right now, shooting 50 percent or higher from the field and 40 percent or higher from the three-point line in each of his last four games. Over that stretch, he's averaging 17.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. He's also hit at least two three-pointers in each of those four outings as well, as he's been producing some solid numbers over an array of categories. While his production likely won't stay this high, he'll still get his share of shots off, especially with Wesley Matthews out for the season.

Batum had 15 points (6-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 12 rebounds, six assists, and one block in 36 minutes Thursday against the Mavericks.

Over the last five games, Batum has played his best basketball of the year. He's outperforming his season average in almost every significant category. On the year, Batum is averaging 9.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 0.7 blocks, and 1.1 steals. Over the last five games, however, Batum has averaged 12.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 block, and 1.2 steals while shooting 49 percent from the field, 10 percent better than his season average. It appears that Batum has benefited from time off over the All-Star break, and though we don't expect him to keep up this level of production, he will probably see more scoring opportunities with Wesley Matthews (Achilles) out for the year.

Batum broke out of his mini-slump Wednesday with 20 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and two blocks over 40 minutes.

Batum played a key role in Portland's comeback win over Los Angeles. He canned four of his eight attempts from beyond the arc and had solid contributions in other categories. Batum remains an up-and-down player that can have games like this, but also games Sunday where he had two points.

Batum continued to struggle Sunday against the Kings, posting just two points (1-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt) to go with four rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 31 minutes of action.

Batum is averaging 9.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.3 three-pointers made this season, and it's becoming clear his effectiveness in fantasy has fallen this season. He's still worth owning in standard leagues, but he certainly shouldn't be considered the game-changer he once was.

Batum finished with 15 points (6-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt), four rebounds, nine assists, two steals and one blocked shot in 36 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Spurs.

Batum has now posted two strong games in a row, going a combined 13-for-21 from the field and 6-for-12 from the three-point line for 32 points, while also adding 14 rebounds, 14 assists, two steals and two blocks. It's believed he's still dealing with some soreness to his wrist, so it's good to see the increased production despite such reports. We'll see if he can continue trending in the right direction, while he's already offering a diverse amount of fantasy categories.

Batum logged 34 minutes on the court during Friday's game against the Jazz. He finished with eight points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.

Batum continues to deal with a lingering injury to his right wrist that stems from a torn ligament back on Dec. 17. It's unlikely that he's 100 percent, although he can be valued for his all-around production despite the fact that he's averaging almost four less points per game than last season.

While his shooting stroke continues to suffer due to an ailing right wrist, he's compensated with contributions elsewhere, including at least four dimes on eight separate occasions during that stretch. As the All-Star break commences, he told The Columbian, "I don't think I will work on it. I just want to relax. Put my wrist on the side and rest it. And it should be okay."

Batum led the Blazers with 20 points (6-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT) and seven assists during Thursday's victory against the Suns.

Batum has seemingly been reborn with Robin Lopez in the lineup the last two contests. Working in tandem with his favored pick-and-roll partner, Batum has averaged 15 points, 6.5 assists, six rebounds, 1.5 three-pointers, one steal, and one block in 36 minutes during that stretch. Such a line coincides with his output from a season ago -- 13.0 points, 7.5 boards, 5.1 assists, 1.8 treys, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks -- on a similar workload. Until he strings together an extended period devoid of shooting woes, Batum is an unreliable scoring option, but production elsewhere remains a staple of his game.

After missing two games due to a lingering wrist issue, Batum has now logged at least 32 minutes in three consecutive contests. However, his shooting woes continue, as he surpassed 40 percent from the field just three times in 14 appearances in January. Finishing the month hitting at merely a 35 percent clip can be attributed to the torn ligament in his right wrist, which has resulted in his worst offensive season since his rookie year in 2008-09. Fortunately, his contributions elsewhere have kept Batum afloat in the fantasy waters.
