Sat Mar 22 201420:05Luke Babbitt will start vs. the Heat
Luke Babbitt will start in place of Eric Gordon on Saturday night.
It makes sense with Tyreke Evans sliding over to shooting guard. Babbitt is coming off an 11-point game on Friday, but he's only worth a look in very deep leagues.

Mon Mar 10 201413:36Luke Babbitt will stay at PF for Pelicans
Pelicans coach Monty Williams said that newcomer Luke Babbitt "doesn't understand the wing position," so he's had to keep Babbitt at power forward.
New Orleans' final 20 games should feature plenty of experimentation and player development, but Williams made it clear that he won't unleash guys like Babbitt, Darius Miller and Jeff Withey without a clear plan.

Thu Feb 13 201401:33Luke Babbitt scores 10 points in win
Luke Babbit scored 10 points in 27 minutes against the Bucks on Wednesday with five boards, one assist and two 3-pointers.
He's been solid and dropped a season high tonight. The Pelicans are using him in a similar fashion as Ryan Anderson, but he's still going to be a enough of a liability to limit his minutes. However, Babbitt's contributions on treys does put him on the radar as a pickup in deep leagues.

Mon Feb 10 201421:55Babbitt hits two threes with three blocks
Luke Babbitt hit 2-of-4 shots (all threes) for six points, three rebounds and three blocks over 20 minutes on Monday against the Raptors.
This isn't a 'run and pick him up line' in most formats, but owners should watch Babbitt over the next few games because his outside shooting is desperately needed to space the floor for New Orleans. If he can work himself into a consistent role, he might find himself on the radar in fantasy leagues.

Sun Feb 9 201421:13Luke Babbitt hits three 3s off Pelicans bench
Newly-acquired Pelicans SF Luke Babbitt scored nine points on 3-of-6 shooting from downtown on Sunday, while adding four rebounds and one steal in 19 minutes.
The Pelicans attempt the second-fewest 3-pointers of any team in the NBA (15.6 per game), yet they rank No. 2 in shooting percentage from downtown (38.2 percent, trailing only the Spurs). Perimeter shooting is Babbitt's specialty (36.5 percent for his career) so he's worth keeping an eye on if you're in need of 3-pointers.

Tue Feb 4 201413:53Luke Babbitt will be available Weds vs Hawks
Luke Babbitt will be available for Wednesday's game against the Hawks.
Babbitt practiced with the Hawks on Tuesday after signing his contract and will be active for Wednesday's game against Atlanta. It's unclear exactly how much run Babbitt will see, but his fantasy value will mostly come for owners in deep leagues who are desperate for 3-pointers.

Tue Feb 4 201413:01Pelicans sign F Luke Babbitt
Pelicans sign F Luke Babbitt.
Babbitt had most recently played with BC Nizhny Novgorod and will now rejoin the NBA after last playing for the Blazers in 2012-13. During his most recent stint with Portland, Babbitt averaged 3.9 points per game, so his fantasy upside is quite limited unless deep league owners are desperate for 3-pointers.

Sat Feb 1 201409:33Report: Pelicans to sign Luke Babbitt
The Pelicans will reportedly sign F Luke Babbitt after negotiating his release from the Russian team Nizhny Novgorod.
Babbitt is "on the way" to New Orleans and presumably he'll earn a guaranteed minimum salary to provide some perimeter shooting off the bench. He played for Portland in 2012-13, averaging 3.9 points on 36.8 shooting, with more than 70 percent of his attempts coming from beyond the arc. He's only worth a glance as a specialist in deep leagues.

Wed Jan 29 201414:27The Pelicans close to signing Luke Babbitt
The Pelicans were close to signing Luke Babbitt to deal for the rest of the season.
According to the report, the problem is the his current Russian club, BC Nizhny Novgorod, isn't facilitating that move having recently issued a statement saying that they will not sign his absentee letter, disallowing him to sign with any other team. The Pelicans need some bodies, but fantasy owners in all leagues can ignore Babbitt for now.

Wed Aug 28 201313:05Luke Babbitt to sign one-year deal in Russia
Luke Babbitt has agreed to a one-year contract with the Russian team BC Nizhny Novgorod, according to CSNNW.com.
The Blazers declined Babbitt's fourth-year team option this summer and no market shaped up for him in the NBA. His deal in Russia doesn't include an opt-out clause. "Luke needs to play 30 minutes a game and play a more expanded role," his agent said. "We've had recent success with both Danny Green and Patrick Beverley (getting an opportunity to develop their games in Europe and return to the NBA."

Sun Apr 14 201320:30Luke Babbitt struggles again off POR bench
Luke Babbitt, who is not expected to be re-signed by the Blazers, finished Sunday's defeat with just two points on 1-of-7 shooting in 23 minutes.
Portland's four-rookie starting lineup summarizes the lunacy of late-season NBA games -- Damian Lillard, Will Barton, Meyers Leonard, J.J. Hickson and Victor Claver, with Luke Babbitt and Sasha Pavlovic as the primary reserves. It's anyone's guess where Babbitt will sign as a free agent this summer.

Wed Mar 6 201309:21Luke Babbitt falls out of Blazers' rotation
Luke Babbitt is adjusting to his new role following his fallout from the Blazers' rotation.
"It's just part of the business," said Babbitt, who is averaging 4.0 points and 2.4 rebounds this season. "You just have to stay ready and that's what I'm doing now - I'm staying ready, I'm not preparing any differently. I'm doing everything the same." It's nothing new for Babbitt, who has seen inconsistent minutes throughout his career, and he's not expected to re-sign with Portland following this season.

Fri Dec 21 201201:18Luke Babbitt hits 14 points, makes four 3s
Luke Babbitt made four 3-pointers in 26 minutes in a 101-93 win against Nuggets on Thursday, adding 14 points and eight boards.
Terry Stotts went with a smaller lineup and Babbitt got some extra run with LaMarcus Aldridge out of the lineup. He probably won't be this good against the Bobcats on Saturday, but he's someone to think about for owners desperately seeking spot-starts.

Mon Dec 17 201200:01Luke Babbitt steps up for ailing Blazers
With Wesley Matthews (hip) leaving Sunday's game after just four minutes, Luke Babbitt stepped in to score 10 points in 27 minutes off the bench.
Matthews is day-to-day and the Blazers don't play until Thursday, so there's no reason to give Babbitt any thought in standard leagues.

Fri Dec 14 201202:02Luke Babbitt scores 12 points off bench
Luke Babbitt had a strong effort off the bench with 12 points, one steal and two 3-pointers in 20 minutes on Thursday.
The Portland bench was scoring just over 12 points per game as a unit before they were hit with injuries, so this is a massive outburst as far as Portland bench scoring goes. Wesley Matthews should have a decent shot of returning from injury on Sunday, which means there isn't much allure to picking up Babbitt.

Sun Dec 9 201201:57Luke Babbitt plays 27 minutes for Blazers
Blazers forward Luke Babbitt took advantage of a season-high 27 minutes on Saturday, scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds in an ugly loss to the Kings.
Babbitt has a soft touch from the perimeter and he made two more 3-pointers vs. Sacramento, but he's only worth mentioning because both Nicolas Batum and Wesley Matthews are questionable to play on Monday.

Tue Oct 30 201205:47Blazers to decline Luke Babbitt's option
The Blazers have declined to exercise next season's option on forward Luke Babbitt's contract.
The option is only worth $2.9 million, which should tell folks all they need to know about Babbitt's value in general. It's especially damning considering the team's lack of depth, but as long as he can replicate last season's 43 percent mark from long distance he should continue to have an NBA home well into the future.

Wed Sep 26 201208:40Luke Babbitt, Blazers not talking contract
Luke Babbitt is not currently having any contract discussions with the Blazers.
Babbitt's agent said that "there have not been any discussions," but he's got a $2.9 million option that the team must decide whether or not they'll exercise by October 31. New coach Terry Stotts wants Babbitt to play to his strengths, and Babbitt also said that he wants to improve his defense. He shot a scorching 43 percent from behind the 3-point line last season, but he's not on the fantasy radar in standard leagues.

Tue Apr 24 201201:18Babbitt disappointing in start for Batum
Luke Babbitt was disappointing despite starting in Monday's blowout loss, scoring five points on 2-of-6 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 31 minutes.
Against a contending team like the Spurs, it's understandable why a mediocre player like Babbitt will struggle in a blowout. For those seeking 3-pointers, we'd advise using him in Thursday's finale against the Jazz, assuming Nic Batum is still out.

Thu Apr 19 201201:48Luke Babbitt scores 16 off Blazers bench
Luke Babbitt had 16 points, five boards, two steals, a block and two 3-pointers on 6-of-17 shooting in 35 minutes off the Blazers bench on Wednesday.
He started the second half for Nicolas Batum, who sat down with a sore knee, and could find himself in the starting lineup the rest of the way. If it happens, Babbit, who had 18 points and four 3-pointers on Sunday, could be a very sneaky pick-and-play the rest of the way.
