Sat Mar 29 201420:12Brian Roberts will return vs. Spurs on Sat.
Brian Roberts (knee) will return to the lineup against the Spurs on Saturday.
He missed two games due to a knee bruise which he suffered back on Monday. Roberts did play through that bruise and he should be close to 100 percent. He probably won't be handling the ball much, but at least he can fill the void left in a very shallow backcourt.

Fri Mar 28 201418:32Brian Roberts out again, Tyreke starts at PG
Brian Roberts (knee) will not play against the Jazz on Friday night.
The Pelicans do get Austin Rivers back, so he can act as a backup point guard behind Tyreke Evans. The team used Darius Miller as a backup, so he's likely a player who will see a larger decrease in action. Owners should deploy Anthony Morrow and Evans as planned while Rivers is still a bit risky. Roberts should be considered questionable for Saturday.

Fri Mar 28 201412:34Brian Roberts still day-to-day w/ knee injury
Brian Roberts (knee) is still listed as day-to-day and is questionable for Friday's game against the Jazz.
Roberts didn't do much during Thursday's practice, so the lack of news about him from the Pelican's on Friday would put his status in doubt for Friday's game against the Jazz. Austin Rivers is over his illness and will be able to suit up Friday, so he will be in line to see big minutes alongside Tyreke Evans and Anthony Morrow if Roberts is unable to go.

Thu Mar 27 201417:36Brian Roberts (knee) dealing w/ bone bruise
Pelicans PG Brian Roberts (sore knee) "didn't do much of anything" during Thursday's practice.
"He's got to get over the soreness," said coach Monty Williams. "That bone bruise has to calm down." Roberts and Eric Gordon (knee) are both iffy to return for Friday's game, which opens up plenty of playing time for Tyreke Evans, Anthony Morrow and possibly Austin Rivers (illness).

Wed Mar 26 201418:31Brian Roberts, Eric Gordon, Austin Rivers out
Brian Roberts (knee), Eric Gordon (knee) and Austin Rivers (illness) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Clippers.
Ouch. The Pelicans will be extremely short handed with three of their guards out of the lineup. Roberts suffered his knee injury on Monday and it didn't cost him any time, but he walking with a limp right now. He should be considered questionable for Friday's game vs. the Jazz.

Wed Mar 26 201413:15Brian Roberts day-to-day w/ bruised knee
Brian Roberts is listed as day-to-day with a bone bruise in his left knee.
Roberts was limping and he sounds iffy to start Wednesday's game vs. the Clippers, which could leave the short-handed Pelicans in a very precarious situation. Austin Rivers is the most likely option to start at PG if Roberts doesn't play, with Tyreke Evans also taking on more playmaking responsibilities.

Tue Mar 25 201400:44Brian Roberts plays well in 36 minutes
Brian Roberts did not miss any time from an apparent knee injury on Monday, finishing with 17 points, three rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and three 3-poitners in 36 minutes.
He had a mild tweak as he was driving to the basket, but he hit his subsequent free throws and he didn't appear to be limping down the stretch whatsoever. Roberts' shots are climbing a bit and he's put up double-digit attempts in six of his last seven. He's not quite a must-own player, but he does enough in the stat sheet to warrant ownership in standard formats.

Fri Mar 14 201423:10Brian Roberts scores 19 points in loss
Brian Roberts scored 19 points with five assists, one steal and one 3-pointer against the Blazers on Friday.
The Blazers do give up some points to guards and Roberts was finally able to do some damage in 39 minutes. His minutes haven't really taken off with just 27.6 per game since the All-Star break and he can't hit 3-pointers, so he's not a great player to own in shallower formats. Roberts is shaping up to just be a No. 3 point guard in fantasy leagues.

Wed Mar 5 201402:28Brian Roberts scores 19 points vs. Lakers
Brian Roberts took advantage of a favorable matchup on Tuesday with 19 points, two assists and one 3-pointer on 6-of-10 from the field against the Lakers.
He's been a little inconsistent since taking over as the starter, averaging 11.7 points, 2.5 boards, 4.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.1 triples in his previous 27 starts. Roberts is not taking quite as many contested shots lately and it could be due to Tyreke Evans breaking down the defense, so Roberts might see better overall numbers despite how his touches could go down.

Sun Mar 2 201401:19Brian Roberts awful in blowout loss to LAC
Brian Roberts started again on Saturday but hit just 1-of-8 shots for four points and two assists in an ugly loss to the Clippers.
He's really been struggling, scoring seven or fewer points in four of his last five games and averaging just 7.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 0.6 steals over that stretch. He's hit just 31 percent of his shots in those games and is 3-of-14 from downtown during that stretch. He looks like the starting point guard the rest of the way now that Jrue Holiday's season is officially over, but Austin Rivers played 30 minutes and scored 19 points off the bench tonight. And given the fact that the Pelicans have shaken up their starting lineup recently, it's not out of the question that Roberts could be benched for Rivers at some point.

Sat Mar 1 201401:31Brian Roberts scores seven points. vs Suns
Brian Roberts battled foul trouble against the Suns on Friday, finishing with seven points, two boards, four assists, one steal and three turnovers.
The news of Jrue Holiday going down for the season due to surgery on his tibia. Contrary to this game, Roberts has played well with a couple nice games in his last four while also showing some upside in steals, assists and 3-pointers. His field goal percentage won't be pretty, but he's worth owning in all standard leagues even with Tyreke Evans moving into the starting lineup.

Thu Feb 27 201401:12Brian Roberts scores 17 in loss to Mavs
Brian Roberts had 17 points, two rebounds, three assists and three 3-pointers on 6-of-9 shooting in Wednesday's loss to Dallas.
Roberts has been up and down while starting for Jrue Holiday, but has generally been helping fantasy owners. And with no timetable set and a total lack of information coming out of New Orleans on the status of Holiday, Roberts remains a must-own player until further notice. And with Anthony Davis possibly missing time with a shoulder injury, Roberts may end up scoring more than he has been going forward.

Mon Feb 24 201423:21Roberts and Co. get benched in loss to LAC
Brian Roberts and Co. got benched in the Pelicans' 123-110 loss to the Clippers on Monday, and Roberts finished with four points on 1-of-4 shooting, three rebounds, seven assists and one block in 19 minutes.
All things considered it wasn't a bad line, especially compared to Eric Gordon's 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting in 23 minutes with two threes and that's it. Anthony Davis was excluded from the starters' benching and had a very nice 26 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks and 12-of-13 freebies, and Tyreke Evans continued to shoot terribly with 4-of-13 makes for eight points, four boards and five assists in 29 minutes. As an aside, we're waiting patiently to see if the basketball community catches on to the Monty Williams problem in New Orleans.

Sat Feb 22 201422:20Brian Roberts hits 2-of-13 shots in loss
Brian Roberts hit just 2-of-13 shots for seven points, nine assists and two steals in Saturday's loss.
Several Pelicans struggled with their shot tonight, but none as much as Roberts. He came in hot, scoring in double figures in seven straight games, but never got it going tonight. As long as Jrue Holiday is out with a mystery return date due to a leg injury, Roberts remains a must-own player.

Fri Feb 21 201422:53Roberts scores 20 points on Friday
Brian Roberts scored 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting with four rebounds, three assists, one steal and two threes on Friday against the Bobcats.
Anthony Davis added 18 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and four blocks, Eric Gordon scored 14 points with two threes, and Tyreke Evans scored four points on 2-of-13 shooting with five rebounds, seven assists and a block in the loss.

Thu Feb 20 201400:27Brian Roberts quiet in loss to Knicks
Brian Roberts hit 4-of-8 shots for 10 points, four assists, a steal and a 3-pointer in 29 minutes of Wednesday's loss to the Knicks.
We were hoping for a little more against Raymond Felton, but with Jrue Holiday still out indefinitely with his leg injury, Roberts deserves to be owned in all leagues, despite the mediocre production on some nights.

Thu Feb 13 201401:24Brian Roberts starting to get it going
Brian Roberts scored 17 points in Wednesday's 102-98 win over the Bucks with four boards, five assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 38 minutes.
We still don't know what is going on with Jrue Holiday (leg) and the Pelicans have been more concerned about updating their mascot's beak than sharing info on their starting point guard. Roberts is finally starting to come around, so he's worth owning in most leagues. In case you were wondering, the Pelicans literally listed Pierre the Pelican as "out" with a broken beak in the official injury report. The report is attached in the link below.

Mon Feb 10 201421:56Roberts scores 18 points against the Raptors
Brian Roberts scored 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting (including three treys) with three rebounds, two assists and two steals over 28 minutes in Monday's loss to the Raptors.
This is a bit better than an average outing for Roberts, and owners can continue using him as a very low-end point guard option until Jrue Holiday returns, whenever that will be.

Sun Feb 9 201421:14Brian Roberts nabs season-high four steals
Brian Roberts stole the ball a season-high four times vs. the Nets, with 12 points and four assists, but it wasn't enough as New Orleans fell 81-93 in Brooklyn on Sunday.
Roberts has averaged just 0.5 steals per game as a starter, to go along with 11.6 points, 1.1 threes and 4.1 assists per game. Those unexceptional numbers should make it easier to dump him onto the waiver wire once Jrue Holiday (leg) returns to action, though for now Holiday remains 'out indefinitely.'
