Hutchison turned in a quality start Friday night, allowing three runs on six hits, walking two and striking out six over six innings, but came away with a no-decision against the Red Sox.
He needed 103 pitches (just 65 for strikes) to cover the six innings, and he was in and out of trouble much of the night. He enjoyed a good share of success early on, but has been inconsistent over the past couple of months and should be considered a risky play going forward.

Hutchison allowed just one run on six hits, walking two and striking out seven over six innings, but was left with a no-decision in the Jay's 2-1 loss in 10 innings to Tampa Bay on Sunday afternoon.
After a couple of horrendous outings, he got back on course in this one, but the Jays' offense continued to sputter and he left trailing 1-0 after six frames. He'll hope for better support when he takes on the Yankees at the Rogers Centre in his next start.

Hutchison got through seven innings on Sunday, but was tagged for eight hits and seven runs in a 7-5 loss to the White Sox.
After a horrid opening inning in which he coughed up a grand slam and a two-run homer, Hutchison settled down nicely, but the damage had already been done. The right-hander has allowed 15 hits and 13 earned runs over his last two starts (12.2 innings), and his ERA has risen from 4.39 to 4.81 as a result. Hutchison will try to bounce back next Sunday at home versus Tampa Bay.

Hutchison was knocked around for six runs on seven hits and two walks over 5.2 innings Monday in a loss to the Mariners.
Seven hits over 5.2 innings isn't so bad, but four of them were for extra bases, including a Robinson Cano home run in the sixth. That makes four disastrous starts out of his last six. Over that span, Hutchison is 2-3 and couphed up 25 runs in 32 innings (7.03 ERA). He will face the White Sox on the road Sunday.
Thu Aug 7 201406:31Hutchison (8-9) pitched gem on Wednesday
Hutchison (8-9) pitched a gem on Wednesday. He allowed one run on one hit, walking one and striking out eight over 8.2 innings against the Orioles.
His only mistake was a solo home run to Chris Davis back in the second inning. He was dominant from that point on however, retiring 22 straight before Nick Markakis drew a walk in the ninth inning. It was a masterful performance for the young right-hander, who had been scuffling a bit as of late. Prior to Wednesday's showing, Hutchison had allowed four or more runs in three of his past four outings. Hutchison will look to keep the momentum going into his next start when he travels to Seattle to take on the Mariners.

Hutchison had a mediocre start at Houston on Thursday, surrendering four runs and six hits in just three innings. He struck out a pair of batters, and did not factor in the decision.
Hutchison didn't even begin the fourth inning, getting pulled after tossing 61 pitches. He's really struggled in three of his last four starts, and his ERA has risen to 4.62, the worst it's been since April 6. He'll face Baltimore at home in his next start, so proceed with caution.
Sat Jul 26 201416:35Hutchison fans seven in victory over Yankees
Drew Hutchison delivered a strong start in Saturday's victory over the Yankees, allowing just two runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings.
Hutchison racked up seven strikeouts while issuing just three walks in the game. The only blemish on his day was a two-run homer off the bat of Brian McCann in the fourth inning. The rookie right-hander now owns a 4.44 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 109/41 K/BB ratio over his 119 2/3 innings on the year. He'll look to carry over this strong start when he takes on the Astros in Houston on Thursday.

Mon Jul 21 201422:03Drew Hutchison givess up six runs in loss
Drew Hutchison yielded six runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Red Sox.
Hutchison didn't get much help from his outfield in the two-run first, but he wasn't fooling anyone tonight anyway. He also gave up six runs last time out against the Rays, and his stuff just isn't what it was at the start of the year. The Jays were prepared for him to wear down in his first year back from Tommy John surgery, but they were surely hoping it wouldn't happen so soon.

Sat Jul 12 201419:47Hutchison allows six runs in loss to Rays
Drew Hutchison gave up six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings as the Blue Jays fell to the Rays on Saturday.
Tampa Bay got to him for six hits and five walks. Hutchison is very talented but has been inconsistent this season and will head into the All-Star break with a 6-8 record, 4.16 ERA, and 1.30 WHIP in 110 1/3 innings.

Sun Jul 6 201421:55Hutchison gives up three runs in loss to A's
Drew Hutchison allowed three runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the A's on Sunday.
Hutchison walked two and struck out four in the outing. He continues to confound, seemingly rotating stellar starts with less-than-great ones. They've all added up to a 6-7 record, 3.86 ERA and 1.26 WHIP through 18 starts. If the pattern holds, he should have a good shot at a win at the Rays on Saturday.

Tue Jul 1 201416:21Hutchison fans 10 in dominant start vs. MIL
Drew Hutchison tossed seven innings of one-run ball in a dominant start Tuesday against the Brewers.
Hutchison struck out 10 batters and held the red-hot Brewers offense to just three hits over his seven impressive frames. It was a nice bounceback showing from the 23-year-old right-hander, who got knocked around in his previous two starts. Hutchison owns a solid 3.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 89/31 K/BB ratio in 99 1/3 total innings this season. He will face the A's in Oakland next.

Hutchison had a rough third inning, but otherwise held the Yankees at bay. In the third, Hutchison yielded all four runs on a walk, an RBI double, an RBI single, and a two-run home run. Overall, the right-hander allowed seven hits, walked two, and struck out six. Hutchison will take a 4.00 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and a 79/29 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Brewers at home.

Thu Jun 19 201423:08Hutchison struggles, picks up his fifth loss
Drew Hutchison fell to 5-5, allowing four runs over 4 1/3 innings in Thursday's loss to the Yankees.
Hutchison has been Jekyll and Hyde over his last seven starts, ranging from dominant (three starts of at least seven shutout innings) to awful (five earned runs in two starts). On Thursday, the right-hander allowed six hits, walked four, and struck out three, bringing his ERA up to 3.86. He'll take on the Yankees again in his next start, but will have the benefit of home field advantage.

Fri Jun 13 201422:32Hutchison tosses seven scoreless in win
Drew Hutchison fired seven scoreless innings in Friday's 4-0 win over the Orioles.
He didn't return after a rain delay. Hutchison scattered six hits while walking none and striking out three. It was nice to see after he was knocked around for five runs over three innings last time out. The 23-year-old has battled inconsistency, but he owns a solid 3.62 ERA and 70/23 K/BB ratio in 82 innings over 14 starts this season. He deserves to be owned in more fantasy leagues at this point.

Sun Jun 8 201416:30Drew Hutchison knocked around by Cards
Drew Hutchison had a rough showing Sunday versus the Cardinals, getting pulled after allowing five runs over just three innings of work.
He permitted hit hits, walked one and struck out one. It was an ugly day from the get-go for Hutchison, as even many of the outs he managed to record were hard hit. The young right-hander now holds a 2.03 ERA in eight road starts and an 8.86 ERA in five home starts this season. He'll be on the road next weekend at Camden Yards.

Tue Jun 3 201422:22Hutchison blanks Tigers, but gets no-decision
Drew Hutchison got the no-decision, shutting out the Tigers over seven innings in Tuesday's 5-3 win.
Hutchison and Anibal Sanchez battled fiercely in a scoreless pitcher's duel, unfortunately resulting in no-decisions for both. Hutchison held the Tigers to three hits without issuing a walk and striking out seven. The right-hander has been a welcome addition to the Jays' rotation, now sporting a 3.50 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and a 66/22 K/BB ratio in 72 innings. He'll face the Cardinals at home in his next start.

Mon May 26 201423:41Drew Hutchison gives up three homers
Drew Hutchison gave up three homers and five runs in five innings Monday in a win over the Rays.
Hutchison entered the night with 59 strikeouts and five homers allowed in 60 innings. Now he has 59 strikeouts and eight homers allowed in 65 innings, which isn't quite so impressive. Hopefully, this was nothing more than an off night: his ability to induce grounders as well as swings and misses has made him one of the AL's biggest surprises. Expect better against the Royals next time out.

Wed May 21 201422:51Drew Hutchison earns win over Red Sox
Drew Hutchison evened his record at 3-3 by holding the Red Sox to one run in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday.
Hutchison tossed a shutout last time out. That wasn't going to happen tonight against a patient Red Sox lineup, but he was effective nonetheless. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out four in the 102-pitch outing. It wasn't Hutchison at his best, but it was good enough against a floundering team.

Fri May 16 201422:39Hutchison tosses shutout against the Rangers
Drew Hutchison tossed a complete game shutout as the Blue Jays defeated the Rangers on Friday.
The right-hander outdueled superstar Yu Darvish, holding the Rangers to three hits and a walk while striking out six in his first career complete game. Hutchison has had some hiccups but has done a good job for the Blue Jays overall, owning a 3.64 ERA with a 55/16 K/BB ratio in 54 1/3 innings. He will face the Red Sox on the road next week.

Tue May 6 201422:34Hutchison goes eight innings, but gets ND
Drew Hutchison surrendered five runs in eight innings and took the no-decision as the Blue Jays defeated the Phillies in 10 innings on Tuesday.
Hutchison was rolling along until the Phillies posted a five-spot in the sixth inning against the right-hander, thanks largely to Cody Asche's game-tying grand slam. Overall, Hutchison allowed nine hits, walked one, and struck out six. Hutchison's defense-independent numbers are impressive, as he currently owns a 44/11 K/BB ratio in 41 innings, so it stands to reason that he could further improve on his 4.17 ERA. If the Jays' rotation stays on schedule, Hutchison will face the Angels at home next.
