White Sox signed RHP Zach Putnam to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Putnam appeared in five games with the Cubs last season, but spent most of the year in the minors before undergoing surgery in August to have bone spurs removed from his elbow. The 26-year-old will likely serve as bullpen depth in Triple-A.
