Tue May 17 202215:13Clayton Kershaw Unlikely To Throw Bullpen Wednesday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) is still experiencing pain and is "unlikely" to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday, according to manager Dave Roberts. Kershaw landed on the injured list last Friday after experiencing soreness in his right SI joint, and he received an epidural injection in order to clear out the inflammation. The 34-year-old will be delayed at least a few days, but he's unlikely to be ready to rejoin the team's rotation by the end of the month. The future Hall of Famer was excellent in five starts before the injury, allowing only six earned runs while walking three and striking out 32 in 30 innings. Continue to stash Kershaw in all fantasy formats. Left-hander Tyler Anderson should remain in the rotation through the end of the month.

Fri May 13 202221:28Clayton Kershaw's MRI Reveals No Structural Damage
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) got an MRI on Friday and the results showed no structural damage for the southpaw. Kershaw was placed on the injured list earlier on Friday after getting an epidural on Thursday. The positive MRI results are good news after Kershaw had already indicated to reporters that he was confident he would be ready to return after his 15-day stay on the IL was over. Kershaw has made five starts for the Dodgers this season, posting a 4-0 record with a 1.80 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts over 30 innings of work.

Fri May 13 202213:44Clayton Kershaw Hits The Injured List Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) has been placed on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right SI joint, the team reports. Left-hander Garrett Cleavinger has been recalled in a corresponding move. Kershaw was off to a fantastic start in 2022, pitching to a 4-0 record, 1.80 ERA and 0.73 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 30 innings. This is just one of many times the former MVP has been sidelined in his career, and he hasn't pitched more than 178 1/3 innings since 2015. The good news is that Kershaw could have a minimal stay on the IL, but they'll be cautious not to bring him back too soon. Walker Buehler will start in Kershaw's place Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Sun May 1 202205:50Clayton Kershaw Breaks Dodgers Strikeout Record
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings during Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers. In the third inning, he struck out Dustin Garneau to tie Hall of Famer Don Sutton for the most strikeouts in Dodgers history. The southpaw fanned Spencer Torkelson for his 2,697th strikeout to pass Sutton on the all-time list in the fourth frame. Kershaw is enjoying a solid season, posting a 3-0 record with 2.35 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts over 20 innings in 2022. The 34-year-old's next scheduled start is this weekend on the road against the Chicago Cubs.

Fri Apr 8 202214:25Clayton Kershaw To Debut On Wednesday
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw will make his season debut on Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins on the road. The Dodgers wanted to get him built up as much as possible, and Kershaw faced hitters on Thursday (five innings worth). Walker Buehler is getting the Opening Day nod on Friday against the Colorado Rockies, with Tony Gonsolin and Julio Urias finishing off the opening series in Colorado. Kershaw is fully healthy after missing the postseason last year, so he shouldn't be restricted at all in Minnesota. The Twins aren't the easiest matchup out there, but it's better than pitching at hitter-friendly Coors Field to open the season.

Thu Mar 17 202214:11Clayton Kershaw Will Be Ready For First Start
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (forearm) will be ready for his first start in the rotation, wherever that may be. Kershaw dealt with a left forearm injury that kept him from pitching in the postseason last October, but barring any setbacks this spring, he should be ready for the regular season. The 33-year-old future Hall of Famer returned to LA on a one-year, $17 million deal this offseason. Kershaw has still been solid when on the mound for the Dodgers, but fantasy managers need to factor in all of his injuries in recent seasons when considering him as more of a back-end starter on draft day. In 2021, he had a 3.55 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 144 K's and 21 walks in 121 1/3 innings.

Fri Mar 11 202220:57Clayton Kershaw Agrees To Return To Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement with left-hander Clayton Kershaw on a one-year deal on Friday, pending a physical, according to sources. The deal was later announced to be worth $17 million. It was pretty much either return to the only team he's called home or sign with his hometown Texas Rangers in free agency. The 33-year-old southpaw chose LA and will return in 2022. Kershaw dealt with a forearm injury late last season and missed the playoffs, eventually finishing 10-8 with a 3.55 ERA and 1.02 WHIP while striking out 144 and walking 21 in 121 2/3 innings over 22 starts. The future Hall of Famer has still been good when healthy, but after a couple injury plagued seasons, Kershaw is quickly becoming an injury risk as more of a back-end fantasy starter on draft day.

Fri Mar 11 202216:37Clayton Kershaw Returning To Dodgers?
There is heavy industry expectation that free-agent left-hander Clayton Kershaw will return to the Los Angeles Dodgers for the 2022 season. Kershaw became a free agent last November when the team didn't extend him a qualifying offer. The 33-year-old eight-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer dealt with forearm problems in 2021 and ended up making 22 starts. He went 10-8 with a 3.55 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 144 strikeouts and 21 walks in his 121 2/3 innings. Kershaw has still been very good when he's been on the mound in recent seasons, but he's made a total of 32 starts in the last two seasons combined due to injuries, and he's become a much riskier fantasy starter than ever before.

Sun Feb 27 202221:08Rangers Or Bust For Clayton Kershaw?
Free-agent starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw may choose to retire if he doesn't sign with his hometown Texas Rangers in 2022, according to a former teammate of Kershaw's. The future Hall of Fame left-hander became a free agent when the Los Angeles Dodgers chose not to make him a qualifying offer. The door is open for a return to LA, but the Rangers were expressing interest in Kershaw before the lockout in early December of last year. The 33-year-old battled injuries in 2021 and posted a 3.55 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 144 strikeouts and 21 walks in 121 2/3 innings over 22 starts. The eight-time All-Star has become more of a back-end fantasy starter heading into the 2022 season, especially since he's still without a team.

Thu Nov 25 202120:22Clayton Kershaw Contacted By Rangers
The Texas Rangers have contacted veteran free agent Clayton Kershaw, according to Rangers manager Chris Woodward. The future Hall of Famer spent 14 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, compiling a career 2.49 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 27.6 K%. His 2021 was injury-riddled, appearing in only 22 games and missing the entire postseason. He was still solid when on the mound, pitching to a 3.55 ERA and 3.00 FIP with 144 strikeouts in 121.1 IP. The 33-year old isn't the pitcher he once was, but when healthy will still provide any team with a top of the rotation arm. Fantasy managers should show caution given Kershaw's late-season injury troubles, but the lefty is still a multi-category contributor when he's on the mound.

Sun Nov 7 202117:52No Qualifying Offer For Clayton Kershaw
The Los Angeles Dodgers did not extend a qualifying offer to starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw was a candidate to receive a one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer after completing his three-year, $93 million deal. It doesn't mean that the left-hander's tenure with the Dodgers is over after 14 years, as he could still return to the team on a separate deal in free agency. The three-time Cy Young winner and 2014 National League MVP didn't play in the playoffs due to forearm discomfort in his left arm, but he avoided ligament damage. It's unclear if the 33-year-old will be ready for the start of the 2022 season, and he posted a 3.55 ERA and 1.02 WHIP while striking out 144 and walking only 21 in 121 2/3 innings in 2021. We think there's still a pretty good chance that the Dodgers will try to bring Kershaw back next season.

Tue Oct 5 202119:33Clayton Kershaw Won't Require Tommy John Surgery
The Los Angeles Dodgers received good news following an MRI on starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (forearm) on Tuesday. The MRI showed no signs of ligament damage, meaning he won't require Tommy John surgery. He's still ruled out for the postseason, but it now seems like he has a good shot at being ready for spring training next year, barring any setbacks. The Dodgers star had yet another strong year in 2021 despite dealing with multiple injuries. He made 22 starts and went 10-8 with a 3.55 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP.

Sat Oct 2 202119:37Clayton Kershaw Placed On Injured List With Forearm Injury
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (forearm) on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. He is dealing with left forearm discomfort and might not be available to pitch at all in the postseason, regardless of how far the Dodgers make it. The Dodgers called up fellow pitcher Mitch White to fill Kershaw's roster spot. The three-time Cy Young winner made 22 starts this year and went 10-8 with a 3.55 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP and a 29.5% strikeout rate. He had a bit of bad luck this year as his 3.17 xERA was well below his actual ERA.

Tue Sep 14 202108:57Clayton Kershaw Tosses No-Decision In Return
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw earned a no-decision in his return to the mound on Monday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. The veteran had been sidelined since July 7 with left forearm inflammation. Kershaw tossed 4 1/3 innings and allowed four hits, one run, one walk and struck out five. Managers should feel confident tossing Kershaw in his next start versus the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him limited. For the season, Kershaw is 9-7 with a 3.33 ERA in 19 starts.

Mon Sep 13 202118:03Clayton Kershaw Activated, Set To Start Monday
The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (elbow) from the 60-day injured list. He is set to start Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kershaw has been out since July 7 due to left elbow discomfort. He made a rehab start at Triple-A last week, pitching three innings and allowing two runs. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that the plan is for Kershaw to pitch around four innings, estimating no more than 60 pitches. The veteran has had a strong year with a 3.39 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP, but his fantasy upside is certainly limited on Monday and it may remain somewhat limited over the final weeks of the year as the Dodgers ease him back into things.

Fri Sep 10 202119:03Clayton Kershaw Throws Bullpen Session Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (forearm) threw a bullpen session on Friday and could get the start next Monday against the Diamondbacks, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reported. The 33-year-old southpaw has been on the injured list since July 7 and, after experiencing a few setbacks, pitched in a rehab game last Tuesday. Kershaw was having another solid season prior to being shelved, pitching to a 9-7 record with a 3.39 ERA and a 127: 19 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 106 1/3 innings. While fantasy managers may be excited about the ace's return, they should stay cautious since he's been on such a long hiatus.

Tue Sep 7 202122:41Clayton Kershaw Pitches Three Innings In Rehab Start
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (forearm) threw three innings in his rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He allowed four hits, two runs and struck out three with no walks. It was his first rehab appearance since going on the injured list on July 7. Kershaw was having another good season on the mound before the ailment, pitching to a 3.39 ERA with 127 strikeouts and just 19 walks in 106.1 innings. He's set to return to the club on Sunday and, according to manager Dave Roberts, the plan is for him to stay in the rotation. He will likely have to ease back into action and won't go deep into games, but fantasy managers will take any value they can get from the lefty.

Fri Sep 3 202120:24Clayton Kershaw Throws Simulated Game On Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (forearm) threw two innings during a simulated outing on Friday. The veteran lefty isn't scheduled to throw again until Sunday. It sounds like Kershaw could head out on a rehab assignment soon. It's uncertain if the Dodgers plan to bring Kershaw back as a starter or attempt to use him out of the bullpen. Regardless, it sounds unlikely that Kershaw is going to have any type of fantasy value down the stretch.

Mon Aug 30 202118:25Clayton Kershaw Throws Simulated Game On Monday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (elbow) threw a simulated game on Monday. The 33-year-old southpaw has been shelved since early July with left elbow soreness and experienced a setback in his rehab later that month. While the Dodgers certainly want Kershaw back in the rotation as they eye another World Series run, manager Dave Roberts has been noncommittal regarding how much work the ace will get down the stretch. With that in mind, fantasy managers may have a hard time getting any beneficial production out of him.

Tue Aug 24 202123:34Clayton Kershaw Throws Off Mound On Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (elbow) completed a 20-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday. The step represented Kershaw's first time throwing off a mound since being shut down after 45 pitches during a sim game on July 27. Although a positive development, the three-time Cy Young winner might be running out of time to return as a full-time starter. Manager Dave Roberts was noncommittal on the left-hander's role upon his return, saying "we'll just see what role makes sense." The 33-year-old is 9-7 with a 3.39 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 127 strikeouts across 106 1/3 innings pitched. While a late September return is likely, fantasy managers will be hard-pressed to squeeze worthwhile production out of Kershaw to justify holding him.
