Ramos is likely to see some save opportunities in the coming days, MLB.com reports.

After closer Steve Cishek blew his fourth save of the season Monday -- and second in as many days -- Manager Mike Redmond acknowledged that a change was likely. Ramos has long been viewed the "closer of the future" in Miami, but has yet to be given a look in the role. He's pitching the best baseball of his career right now, compiling a 1.06 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with 21 strikeouts and six walks over 17 innings this season and has earned first crack at replacing Cishek.

Ramos has been dominant out of the Miami bullpen over his first eight appearances, allowing just one earned run with 13 strikeouts in 9.2 innings pitched.

Though a few of his teammates have struggled to get going in April, Ramos has been lights out for the Marlins. He remains next in line for saves behind closer Steve Cishek and, with improved control, Ramos could hold solid deep-league value regardless thanks to a plus strikeout rate.

Ramos has allowed one run over six spring innings with 10 strikeouts.

Ramos held opposing batters to .164 with a 2.11 ERA over 64 innings pitched during a breakout 2014 campaign as he established himself as the Marlins' top setup man. He's has shown excellent control so far in the spring, posting a 10:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and projects as a steady source of holds while pitching at the back end of Miami's bullpen.

That's seven straight scoreless appearances for Ramos who now owns a 1.89 ERA and 1.23 WHIP over 57 innings pitched this season. His command has been a bit of a concern this year given his 37 walks in those 57 innings, but Ramos has also piled up 65 strikeouts in that time. Ramos remains on a short list of candidates to pick up saves behind closer Steve Cishek.

The right-hander underwent an MRI on his shoulder last week and it only showed inflammation, so he is expected to avoid the disabled list. Ramos, 27, owns a strong 2.17 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 37 1/3 innings this year.
