Rusin was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Rusin made two appearances during his most recent stint with the big club, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks in just four innings. He'll head back to Triple-A to make room for Neil Ramirez (triceps), but Rusin threw a no-hitter for Iowa earlier this season and should return to a long relief role no later than Sept. 1.

Rusin was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald reports.

The Cubs needed a fresh arm after Tuesday's 16-inning marathon, so they went ahead and swapped Blake Parker out with Rusin. Rusin, a 27-year-old lefty, has posted a 3.76 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 6.6 K/9 across 122 innings with Triple-A Iowa this season.

However, we wouldn't rush to the waiver wire in mixed leagues, especially with a start against the Reds on tap for next week.
