Cubs recalled LHP Chris Rusin from Triple-A Iowa. |
He'll start on Monday against the Diamondbacks, taking Matt Garza's spot in the rotation. The southpaw allowed three runs over 3 1/3 innings in one appearance with the Cubs earlier this month. He'll get a chance to stick around but can be avoided in fantasy leagues. |

Cubs optioned LHP Chris Rusin to Triple-A Iowa. |
Rusin made a spot start Tuesday in Oakland and allowed three runs over just 3 1/3 innings of work. The Cubs will need to call up a starter for Sunday now, as Carlos Villanueva isn't stretched out yet. |

Cubs recalled LHP Chris Rusin from Triple-A Iowa. |
He'll start Tuesday against the A's in place of Scott Feldman, who was traded to the Orioles. Rusin made seven appearances with the Cubs last season and owns a 3.27 ERA and 63/22 K/BB ratio over 110 innings in 16 starts and one relief appearance this season in Triple-A. He can be ignored in most fantasy leagues for now. |

Fri Mar 22 2013 | 12:44 | Cubs make several cuts |
Cubs optioned LHP Chris Rusin to Triple-A Iowa; reassigned RHPs Drew Carpenter, Jaye Chapman, Casey Coleman, Jensen Lewis and Blake Parker, INFs Edwin Maysonet and Brad Nelson, OFs Brian Bogusevic, Johermyn Chavez and Darnell McDonald to minor league camp. |
No major surprises among this group. Dave Sappelt has won a bench job as the club's fifth outfielder. |

Tue Mar 19 2013 | 19:18 | Rusin hit hard in no-decision vs. Rangers |
Chris Rusin was hit hard Tuesday against the Rangers, allowing four runs on seven hits in five frames. |
On the plus side, Rusin didn't issue a walk and he racked up four strikeouts. He owns a cool 2.50 ERA and 7/1 K/BB ratio in 18 innings of work this spring, but the 26-year-old left-hander is ticketed for Triple-A Iowa. |

Thu Mar 14 2013 | 19:18 | Rusin blanks Dodgers over five innings |
Chris Rusin tossed five shutout frames against the Dodgers on Thursday. |
Rusin gave up just one hit while striking out one and walking one. The Dodgers had Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp and Adrian Gonzalez in there, so he wasn't facing chumps. The 26-year-old left-hander now has a 0.69 ERA and 3/1 K/BB ratio over 13 innings of work this spring. While his performance has been worthy of a spot on the Opening Day roster, he has options remaining and should open the season in the Triple-A Iowa rotation. |

Sun Sep 30 2012 | 19:28 | Chris Rusin earns win in 2012 finale |
Chris Rusin was credited with a win after allowing two runs -- one earned -- and three hits in five innings Sunday against the Diamondbacks. |
The Cubs were down 2-1 after five, but they scored three unearned runs off Bryan Shaw in the top of the sixth to put Rusin in line for the win. The bullpen did a nice job from there, giving Rusin his second victory to go along with a 6.37 ERA in seven starts. He doesn't figure into the rotation picture for 2013, and it's iffy whether he'll keep his 40-man roster spot this winter. |

Wed Sep 26 2012 | 00:24 | Chris Rusin obliterated in loss to Rockies |
Chris Rusin was obliterated in Tuesday's loss to the Rockies, allowing six runs on seven hits over 3 2/3 innings of work. |
Rusin walked one and didn't record a strikeout in the abbreviated outing. Wilin Rosario got the Rockies on the board with a solo homer in the second inning, and Tyler Colvin added a two-run triple in the third to provide the bulk of the damage. Through his first six starts, Rusin has been horribly ineffective, posting a 1-3 record, 7.30 ERA and 17/9 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings. He'll look to finish the season on a high-note when he takes on the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Sunday. |

Thu Sep 20 2012 | 00:17 | Chris Rusin hit hard by Reds |
Chris Rusin took a no-decision in Wednesday's 11-inning loss to the Reds, allowing five runs on 10 hits in two innings. |
Rusin walked two and struck out two, and may have been lucky to escape allowing only five runs. Rusin was coming off back-to-back strong starts against the Pirates, but has seen his handling of the fading Bucs bookended by rough nights at the hands of Cincinnati and Washington. Now the owner of a 6.00 ERA through 21 frames, Rusin won't be a serious candidate for a roster spot next spring. |

Fri Sep 14 2012 | 18:01 | Chris Rusin picks up first major league win |
Chris Rusin yielded two runs in five innings and struck out six in beating the Pirates on Friday for his first major league victory. |
Andrew McCutchen excepted, the Pirates are just mailing it in now. Rusin had walked six in 11 innings as a big leaguer, but with the Pirates hacking away, he went without allowing a free pass today, though he did hit a batter. He still has a 5.06 ERA in four starts since being called up. |

Rusin made his major league debut Tuesday, and will likely be recalled when rosters expand in September. He has an underwhelming 4.59 ERA and 87/52 K/BB ratio over 133 1/3 innings (24 starts) in the minors. |
