Sat May 14 201121:15Tejada to being losing at-bats
Beat writer Henry Schulman believes that Miguel Tejada's "days as a starter might be over."
Manager Bruce Bochy has already said that he wants to get Mark DeRosa plenty of playing time at third base and use Mike Fontenot at short. Entering Saturday, Tejada was hitting .200 with one homer and an anemic .501 OPS. A move is necessary and fantasy owners should be looking elsewhere.

Thu Apr 28 201105:34Tejada to sit Thursday
Giants manager Bruce Bochy will sit Miguel Tejada for Thursday's game against the Pirates.
Mike Fontenot will replace him, as Bochy wants to add a lefty to the lineup. However, keep in mind that Fontenot is 0-for-17 against right-handers this season.

Tue Apr 19 201118:00Tejada out of Tuesday's lineup vs. Rockies
Miguel Tejada is out of the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Rockies.
Tejada is batting just .213 so far this season and is hitless in three straight games and four of his last five, so he'll take a seat against right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez. Mike Fontenot will start at shortstop Tuesday and bat eighth.

Mon Apr 11 201119:50Tejada batting leadoff Monday vs. Dodgers
Miguel Tejada is batting leadoff against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers on Monday night.
In a word, ouch. Tejada has at least starting hitting better recently, but he has walked a grand total of 73 times over the past three seasons. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Tejada isn't locked into the leadoff role with Andres Torres out of the lineup, so Aaron Rowand is another possibility. Neither are ideal options there.

Sun Apr 10 201100:47Giants' Tejada wins game in bottom of ninth
Miguel Tejada hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the ninth as the Giants beat the Cardinals 3-2 on Saturday.
Colby Rasmus gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead with a homer in the seventh, and St. Louis took that lead into the ninth. Once there, Ryan Franklin gave up a single to Buster Posey and a walk to Pat Burrell before Tejada's shot to the gap with two outs. Rasmus was in a position to catch the ball, but he stopped a little short, probably more because of left fielder Jon Jay closing in on him than a fear of the wall in left-center. He got his glove on the ball anyway, but he couldn't hold on, giving the Giants a second straight win over St. Louis.

Mon Mar 21 201106:33Tejada to rest regularly this season
Giants manager Bruce Bochy plans to rest Miguel Tejada regularly this season.
This strategy makes a lot of sense when considering Tejada's age and his capable back-up, Mike Fontenot. Barring injury, Tejada should play about 135-145 games this season while providing veteran leadership and a solid bat.

Tue Nov 30 201020:05Giants, Tejada reach one-year, $6.5M deal
Giants signed INF Miguel Tejada to a one-year, $6.5 million contract.
The contract also includes around $500,000 in performance-based incentives. Tejada isn't half the shortstop that he used to be, but the Giants had to scramble to replace Edgar Renteria and Juan Uribe. The 36-year-old Tejada batted just .269/.312/.381 over the course of the 2010 season.

Wed Nov 24 201016:34Giants, Padres, Cards interested in Tejada
The Giants have joined the running for free agent infielder Miguel Tejada, according to ESPN Deportes.
The Cardinals were linked to Tejada by the Chicago Tribune's Phil Rogers in late October and have maintained interest. The Padres have also expressed a desire to re-sign the 36-year-old. Tejada batted just .269/.312/.381 over the course of the 2010 season, but he still has a bit of power and would make sense as a backup third baseman or shortstop if the price is right.

Sun Sep 26 201012:14Tejada expects to play Sunday
Miguel Tejada (hip) expects to be in the lineup Sunday.
He had to leave Saturday's game with what manager Bud Black called a hip flexor injury, while Tejada said it was his groin. Either way, he and Black both seemed optimistic. "I have to be out there," Tejada said. "I cannot sit on the bench. I'm fine. I will not be out of the lineup." Black added, "Doctors looked at him. (In) 24 hours we'll have an indication where we're headed."

Sat Sep 25 201003:00Padres' Tejada knocks in three in victory
Miguel Tejada knocked in three runs with a pair of singles Friday as the Padres came back to beat the Reds 4-3.
Tejada's two-run single in the seventh gave the Padres the lead, and the bullpen didn't cough it up. Tejada is up to 31 RBI in 50 games as a Padre. That's not far off Adrian Gonzalez's pace for the season (97 RBI in 151 games).
Thu Sep 23 201000:52Padres' Tejada hits 300th career homer
Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 and hit his 300th career homer Wednesday in the win over the Dodgers.
Tejada has eight homers in 194 at-bats for the Padres after hitting just seven in 401 at-bats for Baltimore. His days as an above average regular are still likely over, but he's been everything the Padres hoped he'd be as their stopgap shortstop.
Tue Sep 14 201000:19Tejada breaks out of funk Monday
Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Monday's win over the Rockies.
Tejada entered the game in a 0-for-16 slide at the plate, but he broke out of his slump in a big way. Not surprisingly, he hasn't hit any better with the Padres than he did with the Orioles, batting .261 with six homers and 22 RBI over 161 at-bats.
Sun Sep 5 201019:33Tejada homers but Padres still lose
Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer against the Rockies on Sunday but the Padres still lost for the tenth straight game.
Tejada tried to start a rally with a bunt single to start the ninth inning in a 4-2 game, but closer Huston Street shut down Tejada's teammates. Tejada has four homers during the Padres' losing streak, so he's done his part since being acquired from the Orioles. The loss leaves the Padres just 1 1/2 games ahead of the Giants in the NL West.
