Kris Medlen twirled eight scoreless innings in Friday's victory over the Phillies, scattering just two singles and a pair of walks along the way.
Medlen whiffed seven in the dominant performance. After a rough start to his season, Medlen has really come on strong as the Braves prepare to head into the postseason. He wraps up his regular season with a 15-12 record, 3.11 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 157/47 K/BB ratio over 197 innings. He doesn't quite have the elite strikeout rate of an upper echelon starter in mixed leagues, but should still be one of the top 25 starting pitchers off the board on draft day next Spring.

Medlen allowed four runs over 5 1/3 innings Tuesday against the Mets for his third straight loss. "I said I don't want to go to the 'pen, but I didn't say I wouldn't go to the 'pen. I think there's a difference. If they think that is where I'll be most effective to help the team win, then obviously I'm going to do that." Medlen is slated to make his next start Sunday against the Cardinals, but a change could come after that. Fantasy owners should get a backup plan in place.

Just something to keep an eye on.
