RHP Yimi Garcia (right biceps) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Friday. The transaction made room on the 40-man roster for LHP Julio Urias, who made his major league debut Friday. Garcia produced a 3.24 ERA in nine relief appearances before being put on the disabled list April 23. With Friday's move, the earliest he can be activated is June 22.

He took the mound in the seventh inning on Friday night and worked two-thirds of an inning before having to leave in the middle of an at-bat. Garcia was shaking his right arm as he left the mound. "It's not feeling much better from yesterday," manager Dave Roberts said. "We can't go a pitcher short. For a guy not being able to pick up a baseball today, you just kind of think through of when he'll be available to pitch in a major league game. Even best-case scenario, it would seem five, six, seven days."

RHP Yimi Garcia began the seventh and faced four batters before leaving with right biceps soreness. He was shaking his right arm after giving up a game-tying sacrifice fly to DJ LeMahieu and will be further evaluated Saturday.

Garcia was recalled by the Dodgers on Thursday, Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times reports.

Garcia has been down in Triple-A since being optioned on Aug. 24, but he'll rejoin the big league club Thursday for the beginning of the Dodgers' series against the Padres. He has posted a 3.55 ERA with 58 strikeouts and nine walks in 45.2 innings of work at the big league level this season.

Garcia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Garcia appeared in five games during this most recent major league stint, allowing four hits and one earned run over 7.1 total innings. The Dodgers are expected to fill his roster spot with a move to reinstate Juan Nicasio from the DL on Tuesday.

Garcia was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Joel Peralta's placement on the DL has opened the door for Garcia to return after spending the better part of the past month and a half with Oklahoma City. Garcia worked mostly in high-leverage spots over the first three months of the season, but he blew five saves and may have to earn his way back to the later innings.

Garcia was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Sunday's game against the Angels, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

Garcia's demotion frees up an active roster spot for Mat Latos, who will get the start Sunday in his Dodgers debut. The 24-year-old's latest stint in the majors lasted all of one week and consisted of just one appearance out of the bullpen.

Garcia will take over the roster spot of Chin-Hui Tsao, who was optioned back to Triple-A after giving up six runs in Saturday's 15-2 loss. After performing as the Dodgers' top reliever earlier in the season prior to Kenley Jansen's return from the DL, Garcia's performance has trended downward, resulting in a 4.10 ERA and seven homers allowed over 37.1 innings. However, the right-hander's spectacular 53:9 K:BB ratio during that span suggests he can reemerge as a dominant setup man if he can manage to keep the ball in the yard more frequently.

He made a spot start Monday against Philadelphia and did not fare particularly well, giving up two runs on four hits -- including a homer -- while striking out two over two innings (43 pitches). Manager Don Mattingly suggested the team wants Garcia to work on his fastball command, but also indicated this is a way to manage his innings, saying Garcia's usage has been higher than in past years.

He struck out a pair, but served up a two-run homer to Freddy Galvis in the second inning. The Dodgers are very unlikely to turn to Garcia for another starting opportunity, and it was Eric Surkamp who ultimately took on the bulk of the bullpen game, tossing 3.1 innings and allowing four runs on four hits in the process. Garcia threw 43 pitches Monday night, which will likely put him on the shelf for at least two days before the Dodgers use him again in relief.

Garcia will receive the start for the Dodgers on Monday against the Phillies, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Garcia will be the first pitcher of a bullpen start for the Dodgers, but he probably won't pitch more than a few innings in the game. It'll likely just be a spot start for him with the All-Star break around the corner, but it will be the first of his career.

Garcia is working on a string of 5.2 consecutive scoreless innings in which he ha allowed just three hits with a 6:0 K:BB.

Garcia has established himself as Kenley Jansen's top setup man for right now and would seem to be the guy to get the call in any save opportunity in which Jansen is unavailable.

Garcia pitched a scoreless eighth inning in a 3-1 win against Arizona on Tuesday and again seems to be the preferred eighth inning option for manager Don Mattingly.

A few rough outings have left Garcia with a 3.70 ERA, but with a 13.3 K/9, he should continue to have success if he can drive down an inflated 1.5 HR/9.

Garcia allowed a solo home run to San Francisco's Buster Posey on Wednesday, and in his last 3.2 innings, he's surrendered six runs.

In each of the three games recently in which Garcia was charged with one or more runs, he's given up a home run each time. His 14.5 K/9 is certainly elite, but he'll need to do a better job keeping the ball in the park to be trusted in the late innings going forward.

Garcia gave up three runs in the ninth to blow the save against the Rockies on Thursday.

Garcia gave up a leadoff single to Nick Hundley and a one-out single to Drew Stubbs. Charlie Blackmon was called out on strikes before Carlos Gonzalez drove a 2-1 pitch halfway up the right-field pavilion to give the Rockies a 5-4 lead. It was Garcia's third blown save in four chances. Luckily for the Dodgers, closer Kanley Jansen could be activated as soon as Friday.

Manager Don Mattingly said Monday that Kenley Jansen (foot) wouldn't close right way upon his return from the DL, potentially allowing Garcia to hang on to the ninth-inning role a little while longer, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Mattingly has never anointed Garcia as his closer while Jansen has been out, but it's clear the 24-year-old has demonstrated that he's the best healthy arm in the Dodgers' bullpen. Though he has only one save to his name this season, Garcia boasts a 0.63 ERA, 0.55 WHIP, and a dazzling 23:4 K:BB ratio over 14.1 innings, numbers that should make him a desirable commodity in most formats even if Jansen eventually recaptures the ninth-inning role at some point, as is anticipated.

Garcia threw a perfect ninth inning against the Padres to get his first major league save, striking out two. After the game, manager Don Mattingly said that he'd continue to mix-and-match in the ninth inning rather than name a full-time fill-in closer while Kenley Jansen is out, the Orange County Register reports.

Garcia has been nothing short of electric in his brief Dodgers tenure, beginning with a callup in September last season. He now has a 0.93 ERA, 16:3 K:BB and just three hits allowed in 9.2 innings this season. Mattingly might not commit to Garcia getting the next save chance for the Dodgers, but there's a really good chance that he'll be an option for future high-leverage situations.

Garcia has made the Dodgers' Opening Day roster, MLB.com reports.

Garcia, Paco Rodriguez and Pedro Baez beat out veterans Sergio Santos, David Aardsma and David Huff for the final three bullpen slots on the team.
