RHP Zack Godley gave up two homers in a five-run fourth inning, and committed a throwing error that led to a run in the fifth while lasting only 4 1/3 innings Monday. Giants C Nick Hundley hit a three-run homer and RF Hunter Pence hit an opposite field homer off the right field foul pole. "Made a bad pitch and Hundley made me pay for it," Godley said. "Made a pitch up and away to a guy (Pence) who is a really good bad ball hitter. A couple of pitches came back to haunt me." Godley started the day after Arizona's celebration that went from the clubhouse to the swimming pool following its clinching of the top NL wild card spot. "I had my fun here and then I took it to the house and got ready for the start today," Godley said. "I felt good. Just had the one hiccup in the fourth, and they made me pay for it."

RHP Zack Godley was 3-0 in his previous four starts while allowing seven runs in 27 innings (a 2.33 earned run average) before giving up five runs on eight hits and three walks with six strikeouts Tuesday night against the Padres. Godley made his fourth start against the Padres this season and has allowed 12 runs in 24 innings -- a 4.50 ERA compared to his overall 3.20 ERA.

Godley took the defeat last Friday, when he gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out 10 over 5 1/3 innings as the Diamondbacks fell to the Minnesota Twins, 10-3. The hits allowed were a season high for Godley, who recorded 10 strikeouts in a game for the second time this year and the first time since he whiffed 10 against the Washington Nationals on July 21. The losing streak is the first for Godley since he dropped three straight starts from June 28-July 16. Godley is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in three career appearances (two starts) against the Mets.

RHP Zack Godley pitched probably his best game of the year Thursday, blanking St. Louis over seven innings to earn his fourth win against four losses. Godley had late life on almost all of his 105 pitches, permitting just four hits and two walks while fanning seven. His breaking ball was particularly sharp, as he obtained a number of strikeouts off it. He collected a dozen outs off grounders.

RHP Zack Godley, who came into Sunday with a 2.58 ERA, allowed seven runs (six earned) over six innings in a loss at Atlanta that dropped his record to 3-4. He struck out a career-high nine, but allowed eight hits, walked one and threw two wild pitches. Godley was holding opponents to a .188 average and he had eight quality starts in his previous 10 outings.

RHP Zack Godley (3-3, 2.58 ERA) faces the Braves in Atlanta on Sunday after losing his last two starts before the All-Star break in hard-luck fashion. RHP Zack Godley posted a career-high eight strikeouts in a no-decision Saturday when the Diamondbacks beat the Phillies 5-1. Godley was brilliant for most of his outing, with the only blemish coming in the bottom of the sixth, when he was removed after allowing a sacrifice fly that evened the score at 1-1. All eight of his strikeouts were swinging.

RHP Zack Godley will make his eighth start of the season on Saturday against the Phillies as the former 10th-round pick in 2013 continues to solidify his spot in the Diamondbacks' rotation. After limiting the Brewers to two runs in 6 2/3 innings last Saturday, Godley improved his record to 2-1 with a 2.44 ERA since his call-up; that ERA would be third-best in the NL if he had enough innings.

RHP Zack Godley was recalled when OF Yasmany Tomas (tendinitis) was placed on the disabled list Tuesday, and Godley will return to the rotation to face Milwaukee on Saturday, manager Torey Lovullo said. Godley pitched four innings at Triple-A Reno on Monday before being pulled from the game and told that he was going to rejoin the D-backs. "It is what it is," Godley said. "It is always disappointing to go down, but all I can do is keep moving forward and keep trying to throw well." Godley is 1-1 with a 2.39 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in six starts while filling in for RHP Shelby Miller (elbow) and RHP Taijuan Walker (blister). Godley has made five consecutive quality starts and has not allowed more than three runs in any of his starts. He was optioned to Reno last Wednesday but was eligible to return before the 10-day waiting period because he is replacing an injured player.

RHP Zack Godley was optioned to Triple-A Reno. Godley was 1-1 with a 2.79 ERA during six games with Arizona this year.

RHP Zack Godley allowed his second home run of the season when the Padres Ryan Schimpf opened a three-run fifth with a 368-foot shot to right. Left-handed hitters were on a 0-for-25 streak against Godley when Schimpf connected and were 4-for-32 (.125) against Godley entering the game. Padres left-handed hitters, including a single by pitcher Clayton Richard, were 3-for-10 against Godley Sunday.
