RHP Zack Godley will make his third start in place of injured RHP Shelby Miller in the first game of a three-game series against the Mets on Monday. Godley gave up four hits and one run in seven innings of a 7-1 victory over Detroit last Tuesday. The Diamondbacks are scheduled to play 17 straight games following an off day Thursday, but manager Torey Lovullo said no determination has been made on Godley's future starts. "All I can control is what they allow me to control, and that's me pitching," Godley sad. "Whenever I get that opportunity, I try to control that situation as best I can and keep trying to make pitches and get guys out." Godley is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his two starts and is limiting opponents to a .200 batting average.

RHP Zack Godley will start Monday for the Diamondbacks against the New York Mets, manager Torey Lovullo announced before Friday's game. Godley is coming off a seven-inning gem on Wednesday when he held the Detroit Tigers to a run and four hits. The Diamondbacks were looking to name a fifth starter, and for the moment, the job is Godley's. "We felt like he was the right guy, he deserved it, he threw the ball really well his last start," Lovullo said. "All I can control is what they ask me to control."

RHP Zack Godley has turned in two solid starts in spot duty for the Diamondbacks this season, most recently a four-hitter over seven innings in which he allowed only one run and got the win in Arizona's 7-1 victory over Detroit on Wednesday. Yet manager Torey Lovullo has still not named Godley, or anyone else, the team's fifth starting pitcher in a rotation that will be without Shelby Miller for the rest of the season. "Still discussing that. Still working through what will happen in his next turn," Lovullo said. "Whatever it is, we want to make sure that that spot will give us the best chance to win the game."

RHP Zack Godley gave up four hits and one run in seven innings in his second spot start of the season after being recalled from Triple-A Reno earlier in the day. He struck out six, walked one and got 14 ground-ball outs. He is likely to get another start the next turn through the rotation during a stretch in which the Diamondbacks play nine straight games. His next turn would come against the Mets on Monday, although manager Torey Lovullo would not commit. "He did a great job. I will say that," Lovullo said. "We will sit down and talk about that in the coming days and figure out the best situation for us moving forward." Godley also drew a two-out walk to set up A.J. Pollock's two-out single for 4-1 lead in the sixth inning. "He controlled the strike zone in the batter's box, too," Lovullo said. "Huge at-bat."

RHP Zack Godley will be recalled from Triple-A Reno to make a spot start Wednesday against Detroit. Godley has made one previous start in the majors this season, giving up two runs and four hits in five innings of a no-decision of an 8-5 loss against San Diego on April 26. Godley seems likely to remain in the rotation for the next start, since the D-Backs play six straight games. "Good performances earn extra moments," Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said. "Out of fairness twosome of the callups, it would be nice to see what they could do over two turns. We're hoping it trends in that direction. He deserves this opportunity." Arizona most likely will send a pitcher out when Godley is activated, Lovullo said.

The D-Backs do not need a fifth starter again until May 6.

RHP Zack Godley gave up four runs on eight hits in six innings and was one out from a quality start before Nationals RHP Max Scherzer had a two-out, two-run single on an 0-2 pitch to cap a three-run sixth inning rally for a 4-1 lead. "I didn't make a pitch," Godley said of Scherzer's at-bat. "I threw a cutter that just ran in like a fastball and he put a good swing on it and got it back up the middle." Godley had made six starts this season while RHP Rubby De La Rosa and RHP Zack Greinke have spent time on the disabled list. It is not clear who Greinke will replace in the rotation when he returns, likely Tuesday or Wednesday. RHP Braden Shipley, who threw six scoreless innings in his second major league start Saturday, is scheduled to start Friday against Milwaukee.

RHP Zack Godley hung around for 5 2/3 innings on Sunday despite allowing five earned runs and 10 hits over 88 pitches. He walked two and struck out two in the Diamondbacks' 9-8 win at Cincinnati. "Guy's a warrior," manager Chip Hale said. "He gave up some runs. There were a lot of ground ball hits in that one inning. The mistake was the hit batsman (to begin the three-run third). Just seems like, we walk a batter, or hit a batter, they score."

RHP Zack Godley gave up four runs (three earned runs) and six hits in five innings of his third start with the team this season after being recalled earlier Tuesday, his third stint with the team. Godley filled the spot of RHP Zack Greinke, who has been three turns through the rotation with a left oblique strain. The most damaging blow was a three-run homer by Toronto 1B Edwin Encarnacion that gave the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead in the third inning. "I am in the zone, but the couple of pitches I leave up they made me pay for," Godley said. "I just have to work down and keep getting ground balls. For the most part I did that. Just a couple of pitches messed me up."
