RHP Zack Godley was optioned to Triple-A Reno as expected Wednesday after his spot start Tuesday while filling in for RHP Zack Greinke. Godley gave up four runs in five innings in a 7-5 victory over San Diego. In six games (two starts) for Arizona this year, Godley is 2-0 with a 5.28 ERA.

Godley, who was recalled from Triple-A Reno before the game to make his second start of the season, allowed four runs on eight hits over five innings and struck out two. He also walked three, including Padres starter Christian Friedrich to start the Padres' two-run third inning. "There were a lot of mis-hit balls off him," said Arizona manager Chip Hale. "His ball moves a lot. If he can get that with the location down in the zone a little more, he's going to be something." Godley was sent back to Reno after the game.

He pitched four innings Thursday and would be on regular rest Tuesday.

Godley's next turn would be Thursday, when the D-backs have an off day while traveling to Philadelphia to start a 10-game road trip that also includes stops in Toronto and Colorado. "We'll have to see," Arizona manager Chip Hale said. "Obviously that's an off day for us. If we are going to leave him in the rotation we would have to push everybody back and finagle around. We have to sit down as a group and map out the next couple of weeks." Godley gave up four hits and two runs in six innings of his 2016 debut. "Getting to come back up and pitch is always fun," Godley said.

He has just gotten back to being who he was last year, aggressive, getting the ground balls." Godley was 5-1 with a 3.19 in nine appearances, five starts, with Arizona last season.
