Canaan will start in place of Patrick Beverley (hamstring) on Saturday against the Celtics, Rockets' radio play-by-play announcer Craig Ackerman reports.
This will be Canaan's first start of his career but he will have his hands full against Rajon Rondo. Even so, Canaan's owners will likely see a nice boost in his production with the extra time on the court.
Mon Apr 21 201417:02Canaan, Covington reassigned to D-League
Isaiah Canaan and Robert Covington were reassigned on Monday to the Rockets' development league affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Canaan and Covington were recalled on Friday and are now being sent back to the D-league to keep their legs fresh. There is a good chance both will be back with the team during the postseason, especially if Canaan's services are needed to spell Patrick Beverley who is nursing a sore knee.

The Rockets recalled Isaiah Canaan and Robert Covington on Friday.

Wed Apr 9 201401:25Isaiah Canaan scores 15 in ugly loss
Isaiah Canaan hit 6-of-8 shots and three 3-pointers for 15 points and one assist on Tuesday.
The game was a blowout and Patrick Beverley was out, meaning Canaan got plenty of minutes in the second half. However, he did the same thing on Sunday in an OT win, and as long as Beverley is out, Canaan is worth a deep-league look.

Sat Mar 29 201423:23Isaiah Canaan gets in the mix vs. Clippers
Isaiah Canaan played 20 minutes vs. the Clippers on Saturday with 14 points, four boards, three assists and two 3-pointers.
He played a little more than expected because Chris Paul made Jeremy Lin look awful on both ends. Canaan figures to get minutes in the high teens, but he'll be worth a look in deep leagues for his output in steals and treys.

Fri Mar 28 201415:07Isaiah Canaan figures to get minutes
Isaiah Canaan will likely be in the rotation for the Rockets for the rest of the season.
Pat Beverley (knee) is out for the year and Jeremy Lin can't play 48 minutes, so Canaan will step in. Lin played 33.7 minutes per game in his 14 games as the starter at point guard when Beverley broke his hand. That serves as a fair expectation for him again, which means Canaan is looking at about 14 minutes per game. Extrapolating his season averages would put him at around 6.5 points, 0.8 triples and 1.5 steals. Adjust accordingly.

Tue Feb 18 201400:36Isaiah Canaan sent back down to Rio Grande
Isaiah Canaan was re-assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
He's had some success in the D-League and his style of play will eventually fit right in with the Rockets. Canaan is a little like James Harden for his attacking style mixed with some 3-point range, but he's not going to have an impact in fantasy leagues yet.

Sun Jul 7 201309:33HOU PG Isaiah Canaan out w/ sprained ankle
Rockets draft pick Isaiah Canaan won't play in Summer League on Sunday due to a sprained ankle he suffered back in June.
"Shooting is something you can't get enough of on a team," said Daryl Morey. "[Canaan] is one of the best shooters to come out of college in a while. He's a big athlete ... he's short but he's thick, so he's not a liability defensively." The ankle injury shouldn't limit him for much longer, and Canaan has a chance to carve out bench minutes as the Rockets' third point guard behind Jeremy Lin and Patrick Beverley.
