Jennings could require a rehab stint a bit lengthier than normal, as he has not played since early May, but that decision will be made once he has made some progress. The team will likely continue to tread carefully with Jennings, while Brandon Guyer continues to start in his place.

Per Rays manager Kevin Cash, "He said he's feeling good, the swelling's gone down, he's seeing progress, so that's a great sign." No timetable is worrying for those who hoped Jennings can come back on his first day of eligibility, but he shouldn't need too much rehab time in the minors.

Jennings was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday due to left knee bursitis.

Jennings had missed six straight contests while dealing with the ailment, so the stint could be backdated as far as April 26 if the team chooses to. David DeJesus and Brandon Guyer have been filling in as the primary left fielders with Jennings on the shelf, and should both see similar roles over the next week. The Rays also called up outfielder Joey Butler in a corresponding move, and he'll provide further depth at the position.
