Thu Dec 25 201417:04Shawn Marion: Starting at Power Forward Thursday
Marion will move into the starting lineup at power forward Thursday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
With Anderson Varejao (Achilles) out for the season, coach David Blatt had to decide whether to go with a smaller lineup or a more traditional lineup that features Tristan Thompson as the starting center. He opted to go with the smaller lineup. Neither Thompson nor Marion provide great per-minute stat production, so wait to see how many minutes Marion gets before considering adding him in standard leagues.

Marion came off the bench to play 17 minutes and provided eight points (4-6 FG) in the win over the Nets on Friday.
Marion was replaced in the starting lineup by Mike Miller. He scored his most points since Dec. 5, but his value won't change greatly as a reserve.
Fri Dec 19 201412:44Marion will be moved to bench Friday against Nets
Marion will be moved to the bench Friday against the Nets, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
With the return of Mike Miller (concussion) Friday, head coach David Blatt has decided to move Marion back to a bench role. Marion will likely lose some playing time to Miller, and be relied on as a defensive stopper off the bench. Even before Miller's return, Marion was struggling to put up numbers useful for most fantasy players, so don't expect that to change barring an injury.

Marion continues to start for Cleveland, but was held to two points (1-6 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 0-2 FT) and three rebounds in 21 minutes in the loss to Oklahoma City on Thursday.
Marion has not scored in double digits and has hit just 31.8 percent of his field goals in his last five games. With all of the other offensive options on the Cavaliers, the veteran small forward will have minimal fantasy value.
Wed Nov 26 201418:23Marion will remain in starting lineup for now
Marion will remain in the starting lineup for now, the Akron Beacon Journal's Jason Lloyd reports.
There was talk that Mike Miller might enter the starting lineup at shooting guard Wednesday, but that appears to be a premature notion. Nonetheless, Marion will still struggle to see much more than 25 minutes per game.
Wed Nov 26 201412:01Marion expected to be removed from starting lineup Wednesday
Marion is expected to be removed from the starting lineup Wednesday, the News Herald's Bob Finnan reports.
While Marion still brings solid defense and leadership to the Cavs, his line of 5.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this season is not very useful in fantasy, and he may be even less productive off the bench. Mike Miller is expected to start at shooting guard Wednesday.
Wed Nov 19 201418:07Marion (foot) will start Wednesday against Timberwolves
Marion (foot) will start Wednesday against the Timberwolves, Turner Sports reports.
Marion was dealing with a sore upper foot, but was still expected to be in the starting lineup. That has now been confirmed as the case, though it's unclear if he will be 100 percent while doing so.

Marion (foot) is listed as probable for Wednesday's matchup with the Spurs, Bob Finnan of the News-Herald reports.
Marion is dealing with a sore upper foot but told coach David Blatt that if he can walk, he'll play Wednesday. Expect Marion to be in the starting lineup, though nothing is set in stone at this point.

Marion will remain in the starting lineup for the "foreseeable future," The News-Herald reports.
Head coach David Blatt has noted improvement in the Cavaliers' defense since Marion entered the starting lineup, so Marion will be the starting shooting guard and Dion Waiters will come off the bench, at least for the time being.
Wed Nov 5 201420:29Marion will start at shooting guard over Dion Waiters on Wednesd...
Marion will start at shooting guard over Dion Waiters on Wednesday against the Jazz, Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Marion will take the court first for the Cavs, but Waiters should also see steady minutes off the bench. No reason was given for the switch, but the fact that Waiters is just 6-for-21 from the field over his last two contests may have come into play. Head coach David Blatt could simply be trying out the more experienced option, in order to see if it could help turn things around after a 1-2 start.

Marion (rest) will not play in Friday's exhibition game against the Mavericks.
Marion will be allowed to sit Friday's preseason game out to prepare for the long haul of the regular season. Coach David Blatt has continually given his veterans scheduled rest during training camp, so there's nothing concerning about Marion's availability for when it matters.
Sun Aug 17 201410:57Marion will sign with Cavaliers
Marion will sign with the Cavaliers, ESPN.com reports. Marion could have taken more money to sign with the Pacers, but the lure of another championship and playing with LeBron James was to much to give up.
Marion has spent the last five seasons with the Mavericks and has averaged at least 10.4 points and 6.4 rebounds in each season. He has also started every game in which he appeared over the last three seasons - a situation that is likely to change for the 36 year old. Marion will likely be a defensive reserve and a small forward backup to James.
Sat Jul 26 201421:21Shawn Marion sounds like he's out of Dallas
It appears Shawn Marion is not re-signing with Dallas based on his comments this weekend.
"It was memorable, baby," Marion said. "It's hard to say it wasn't fun. We had a great run and made the playoffs four of five years and won a championship. We set goals every year, and most years we reached them. And to win a championship, it was unbelievable. I wish we could have made a couple more runs at it, but it is what it is." He's expected to sign with a contender as an unrestricted free agent.

Mon Jul 21 201420:48Hornets not expected to go after The Matrix
The Hornets are not pursuing Shawn Marion.
The Mavericks are very unlikely to bring him back, so it's anyone's guess where he will wind up. Marion has hinted that he'd like to join a contender and now that it's already July 21 and he's without a team, money may be a lower priority.

Tue Jul 15 201409:35Mavericks don't expect Shawn Marion to return
The Dallas Mavericks don't expect Shawn Marion to re-sign in Dallas.
Speaking about the Maverick's free agency plans for the rest of the summer, team president characterized Marion's chances of returning as a "long long long long long shot." Marion is looking to land with a team that gives him a chance to win a championship, but Nelson said, "Shawn Marion's got one of the best in the business, if not thee best, so I expect he's going to get a lot more money out there than the Mavericks can afford to offer right now." At 35, Marion can still help as a role player on a contending team, but his fantasy value is limited to deeper leagues at this point.

Fri Jul 11 201409:41Mavs may lose Shawn Marion in free agency
The Mavericks may renounce Shawn Marion's Bird Rights if the Rockets don't match their offer to Chandler Parsons.
Parsons signed a three-year offer sheet worth more than $45 million, and if the Mavs land him they won't have the space to also retain Marion in free agency. Marion's primary goal is to join a team that can win a championship, so like everyone else he'll wait until LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony make their decisions before committing to any team.

Thu Jun 5 201414:55Shawn Marion looking to add to his legacy
Shawn Marion said on Wednesday that his main focus for free agency is joining a team that can win a championship.
"My ultimate goal is to win another championship," he said. "So it's wherever I feel is the best chance to win another championship." Marion said he plans to retire after two more seasons, so his next destination may be his last. He also revealed that reports about him wanting to retire as a Maverick are inaccurate. "I didn't say that. I said that I didn't know where I was going to retire (in the league), because I can't dictate what's going to happen this summer, I can't control anything."

Sat May 24 201416:37Bulls could go after Shawn Marion next year
The Bulls could go after Shawn Marion this offseason, according to the Chicago Sun Times.
The Matrix still has something left in the tank at age 35 and would get run at both forward spots. His days of playing 40 minutes per game are over, but Marion could help the Bulls with 30 minutes per night at the forward spots. Of course, the team would have to dump Carlos Boozer to bring on the pending free agent.

Fri May 9 201410:28Shawn Marion says FA decision not about money
Impending free agent Shawn Marion said money will not be the deciding factor in his decision on where to play next season.
"I'll look at my options and see which options are best suited to me to add to my legacy," Marion said. "It's not about money right now. I've made a lot of money in my career." It sounds like the Matrix may be willing to play for something around the mid-level exception. If that's the case, he'd fit nicely with the Heat or Bulls as a bench defender.

Mon May 5 201414:27Shawn Marion to retire after two more seasons
Shawn Marion said on Monday that he plans to retire after two more seasons.
The Matrix has had one of the most unique careers in the NBA, including being named to four all-star teams, and winning a championship in 2011. Marion is set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer after spending the last five seasons in Dallas. It will be interesting to see whether he tries to re-sign with the Mavs, or if he decides to join a team closer to title contention.
