Wed Jun 12 201313:38Padres calling up outfielder Jaff Decker
The Padres are expected to call up outfielder Jaff Decker prior to Wednesday's game.
The Padres have yet to make an official announcement, but he's expected to replace Cameron Maybin (knee) on the active roster. Decker, 23, is batting .251/.370/.399 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 59 games this season with Triple-A Tucson. While he has been a bit of a disappointment as a prospect, he has patience and is capable of playing all three outfield positions.

Padres optioned OF Jaff Decker to Double-A San Antonio.
Decker batted just .175 over 40 at-bats this spring. He needs to re-establish his status as a prospect after batting .184/.365/.293 at Double-A during an injury-shortened 2012 season.

Tue Nov 20 201219:19Jaff Decker has contract purchased
Padres purchased the contract of OF Jaff Decker from Double-A San Antonio.
Decker missed time with injury in 2012 and wound up batting only .184/.365/.293 at Double-A. The on-base skills are still there, but he hasn't progressed as much at the plate as hoped. The Padres obviously aren't ready to give up on him, though, since they've protected him from the Rule 5 Draft.

Jaff Decker homered and doubled in Friday's win over the Angels.
One of the top prospects in perhaps the game's top farm system, Decker is now batting .357 with four extra-base hits through his first 14 spring at-bats. Decker will begin the year in either Double or Triple-A after hitting .236/.373/.417 in 613 plate appearances for Double-A San Antonio last season.
