Wed May 20 201517:19Stubbs optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday
Stubbs was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Stubbs posted an extremely poor start to the 2015 season, batting .118 through 24 games despite sticking in the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field. He'll head to the minors in an attempt to collect himself, while the Rockies recalled Brandon Barnes to take his place on the 25-man roster.

Mon May 18 201511:38Stubbs could be in line for regular at-bats
With the Rockies mulling the idea of placing Corey Dickerson (foot) on the disabled list, Stubbs could be in line for regular at-bats, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Stubbs has already started the last five games in center field, but hasn't been able to break out of his season-long funk just yet. During that stretch of starts, he's gone just 2-for-14 at the dish with seven strikeouts, keeping his average at .109 and his on-base percentage at .180 for the year. Stubbs' low-contact tendencies have made his average vulnerable throughout his career, but his ability to steal bases and hit for pop on the few occasions he's not whiffing makes him a useful target for fantasy owners looking to build up their counting totals. With the Rockies set to begin an eight-game homestand Monday and Dickerson uncertain to be available, Stubbs could finally bust out. For all his shortcomings, Stubbs took full advantage last season of the favorable hitting confines of Coors Field, where he batted an astounding .356 to go along with 12 homers and 33 RBI over 225 plate appearances.

Stubbs will start in center field and bat seventh Saturday against the Dodgers.
Stubbs was not in the lineup Friday but will man center field Saturday. He'll have the daunting task of facing Clayton Kershaw if the game is not postponed due to weather. Stubbs is 3-for-26 with 12 strikeouts in his career against Kershaw.

Stubbs went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk while appearing in both games of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Diamondbacks.
Both of Stubbs' hits this season have gone for home runs, but it's come with a woeful .071 batting average and .161 on-base percentage. While additional plate appearances could be on the horizon for Stubbs if Corey Dickerson's setback with plantar fasciitis opens up an outfield spot, he may need to dramatically curb his strikeouts (17 in 28 at-bats) to deliver consistent fantasy utility in deep leagues.

Stubbs collected his first hit of the season Friday against the Padres, swatting a solo homer in the 14-3 loss.
Stubbs had gone hitless in his first 21 at-bats of the season, striking out on 13 of those occasions. While it's good to seem him finally break the skid, he'll face a steep climb to raise his batting average. Contact issues have plagued Stubbs throughout his career, and with the Rockies unable to justify giving him starts even against lefties at this time, the outfielder will face the tough task of finding a rhythm with inconsistent at-bats off the bench.

Stubbs will get the start in center field and hit eighth Friday against the Padres.
It's not an ideal scenario as the Rockies are in San Diego and Stubbs will be up against a righty, Ian Kennedy, on Friday. However, when Stubbs gets home starts against lefties he is an ideal option in daily leagues.
Thu Apr 23 201513:15Stubbs will get start in center field Thursday
Stubbs will get the start in center field Thursday, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.
Carlos Gonzalez, who is slumping to start the season, will get the day off, allowing Stubbs to get in the lineup. However, it's not exactly a favorable matchup for Stubbs, as he'll face righty Tyson Ross and Stubbs is typically best deployed against lefties.

Stubbs entered Monday's game as a replacement for Corey Dickerson (foot) and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in a losing effort.
Depending on the extent of Dickerson's injury, Stubbs may be in line for an increased role, He's scuffled in limited chances to begin the 2015 campaign, however, opening with an 0-for-12 mark at the plate including seven strikeouts.
Fri Apr 17 201517:35Stubbs getting start in center field Friday
Stubbs is getting the start in center field Friday, the Denver Post's Nick Groke reports.
The Rockies will go with a righty-heavy lineup with Clayton Kershaw on the mound, so Carlos Gonzalez will get the day off. Stubbs is typically a solid play against a lefty, but he is just 3-for-23 for his career against Kershaw, because Kershaw is not your typical lefty.

Stubbs has just four at-bats this season, and has made contact in just one, grounding out in a pinch-hit appearance Monday.
Unfortunately for Stubbs, the Rockies are projected to face just one left-handed starter over the next two weeks, and that's Clayton Kershaw. It's unlikely that he'll have many chances to snap out of the slump that began in spring training, when he struck out 25 of 50 plate appearances.

Stubbs is batting .242 with two home runs and a team-high 17 strikeouts in 33 Cactus League at-bats.
The high strikeout totals will forever be a part of Stubbs' game, but he brings enough overall value with his ability to draw walks, supply pop, and steal bases. In addition, Stubbs is perhaps the Rockies' best defender in the outfield, which should at least allow him to receive plenty of run as a late-inning defensive replacement. More likely, he'll carve out an even more significant role as a potential platoon mate for either Corey Dickerson or Charlie Blackmon, neither of whom has been as successful against left-handed pitching as Stubbs has over his career.

Stubbs and the Rockies have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a $5.825 million contract for 2015, Ben Nicholson-Smith of USA Today reports.
Stubbs is the latest in a long line of players to enjoy a career year at Coors Field, as he hit career highs in all three triple slash stats (.289/.339/.482), stole 20 bases, and supplied his very strong center field defense. He just turned 30, but he should still be a good piece to consider for 2015

Stubbs went 2-for-3 with an RBI, walk and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.
It was only the third start in seven games for Stubbs, who has seen his at-bats tail off following the return of Michael Cuddyer from the DL. While Stubbs has managed to produce when in the lineup this year -- particularly at Coors Field -- he doesn't appear to be an especially attractive option in mixed leagues in the final week. With his at-bats on the decline and the Rockies playing three games each in pitcher's parks in San Diego and Los Angeles, Stubbs probably won't return much value.

Stubbs went 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.
Perhaps no Rockies player has exhibited the value of playing at Coors Field better than Stubbs this season. After Tuesday's performance, he's slashing .353/.384/.617 at home compared to a dismal .210/.283/.317 on the road. The stark differential has also been reflected in his counting stats, as Stubbs has provided 12 of his 14 homers and 32 of his 41 RBI on the season at home.

Stubbs went 1-for-3 with a double, walk and stolen base in Wednesday's 2-0 loss to the Mets.
He had the most offensive impact Wednesday for the Rockies, who were shut out by the Mets for the second consecutive night. Stubbs has started two of the three games since Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) returned from the disabled list Monday, and will likely have to contend with Charlie Blackmon for semi-regular duty in center field the rest of the way.
Sun Sep 7 201414:03Stubbs out of lineup Sunday against Padres
Stubbs is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Stubbs has started four of the past five games in center field for the Rockies, but will receive a regular day off Sunday afternoon. In his stead, Charlie Blackmon will move over to cover center field, while Ben Paulsen draws the start in right. Stubbs has hit safely in four of five games to start the month of September, and is slashing .289/.330/.480 on the season.

Stubbs smacked his 14th homer of the year off Padres starter Eric Stults on Friday, as he went 1-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI.
While he's not an everyday player, Stubbs has certainly made the most of his at-bats as he's currently hitting .291 on the season - a career high. If Stubbs received a few more at-bats this year, he may have been in line for a 20/20 season. Keep in mind down the stretch that Stubbs has horrific home/road splits hitting .362 in Colorado and .209 away.
Wed Sep 3 201412:13Stubbs out of lineup Wednesday against Giants
Stubbs is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Giants.
Stubbs will take the day off Wednesday following a 2-for-4 night at the plate that included a stolen base and three runs scored. Charlie Blackmon will move to center and Ben Paulsen will enter the lineup in right for the Rockies on Wednesday, batting sixth.
