Fri Mar 21 201409:18Marshall expected to start ahead of Nash
Kendall Marshall is expected to remain the starter even if Steve Nash (back) does return Friday night.
Nash surprised everyone by participating in practice Thursday and reportedly planning to suit up Friday. The Lakers had previously ruled out a return. Marshall hasn't topped 28 minutes in any game this month anyway, so we wouldn't expect a huge downturn in minutes. Nash isn't capable of sustaining health for any period of time at age 40.

Fri Mar 14 201400:36Kendall Marshall scores a little bit
Kendall Marshall made three of his five shots from the field for eight points with two boards, six assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 22 minutes during Thursday's 131-102 loss to the Thunder.
Even with Steve Nash (nerve irritation) out for the year, Marshall looks like the second-best point guard for the Lakers. The Lakers are running the offense through Pau Gasol more, so coach Mike D'Antoni hasn't leaned on Marshall pick-and-roll plays quite as much these days. Marshall had double-digit dimes in five of his six games, but that's really all he's doing right now.

Sun Mar 9 201418:42Kendall Marshall doesn't score again in win
Kendall Marshall failed to score in 27 minutes against the Thunder on Sunday, adding five boards, 10 assists and three turnovers.
It's the fifth time in his last eight games in which he failed to score and he hasn't been in double figures in his last 10 games. Over his previous nine, Marshall did add 9.0 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.4 triples, but scoring just 2.7 points per game on 20.8 percent from the field and not making any free throws has knocked him from the standard-league conversation unless his potential owners are in dire straits for assists.

Sat Mar 8 201400:56Marshall goes for eight and 14 in loss
Kendall Marshall scored eight points on 3-of-9 shooting (including two threes) with three rebounds, 14 assists and one steal in the Lakers' 134-126 loss to the Nuggets on Friday.
Owners should note the extremely high score and also keep in mind that there is a ton of data on Marshall and it shows he needs heavy minutes to return late round value, especially in 9-cat leagues. He really needs an injury to be a sure-fire pickup unless he starts cooking real hot.

Fri Mar 7 201401:44Kendall Marshall goes for 7 & 7 in ugly loss
Kendall Marshall hit 3-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for seven points, four rebounds, seven assists and a steal in 23 minutes of Thursday's 142-94 loss to the Clippers.
This was not only the Lakers worst loss in history, but the biggest margin of victory in the history of the Clippers. Marshall has been playing better for the Lakers lately, while Jordan Farmar had just four points and three assists off the bench in 21 minutes. But in a game that was over in five minutes, it's hard to see what is reality and what is a fluke. The bottom line is that both Farmar and Marshall should be held until we see how things shake down going forward.

Thu Mar 6 201414:01Kendall Marshall will start Thursday vs LAC
Kendall Marshall will start against the Clippers Thursday night.
There had been some rumblings that Jordan Farmar would start over Marshall on Thursday, but coach Mike D'Antoni will be sticking with the same starting lineup from Tuesday's game against the Pelicans. Farmar has outplayed Marshall since returning from calf and hamstring injuries, however, and will likely see more minutes than Marshall on Thursday night. Marshall can still be a valuable source of assists going forward, but his owners shouldn't expect much else from him.

Wed Mar 5 201401:57Kendall Marshall might be losing starting job
Kendall Marshall did not start the second half of Tuesday's game against the Pelicans, failing to score with 10 assists, one steal and two turnovers in 22 minutes.
Coach Mike D'Antoni said he's considering moving Marshall to the bench for Thursday. Jordan Farmar almost single-handedly brought the Lakers back in this game after Marshall gave up plenty of easy buckets in the first half. Marshall is second in the NBA for assists per game this season, but it looks like his run is over. Farmar has more fantasy value the rest of the way and Marshall may need an injury to get back into the must-own territory.

Tue Mar 4 201400:45Marshall back on the board vs. Blazers
Kendall Marshall scored seven points on 3-of-9 shooting with six rebounds, 11 assists and one 3-pointer over 25 minutes in Monday's win.
Marshall did not record a steal or block as usual but he did have one of his patented popcorn lines. He has a top 70-115 value (8/9 cat) over the last two months in 33.4 mpg, so owners can make an educated guess as to what that will look like in his 24-minute role opposite Jordan Farmar.

Sat Mar 1 201401:05Marshall posts 10 assists and that's it
Kendall Marshall handed out 10 assists and that's just about it in Friday's win over the Kings.
Marshall played 19 minutes and added just one rebound, four turnovers and two missed field goal attempts to his line. He also got torched relentlessly by Isaiah Thomas and Co., while Jordan Farmar had a career-night with 30 points and eight threes. Mike D'Antoni still has these two guys operating out of one singular 48-minute bucket, and Farmar will be a hard guy to bench after a night like this. Marshall is just a stash at best right now for the chance injury-prone Farmar gets hurt.

Thu Feb 27 201400:26Kendall Marshall doesn't score in 24 minutes
Kendall Marshall did not score in 24 minutes against the Grizzlies on Wednesday, adding five boards and eight assists.
He shot 0-of-6 from the field and turned the ball over twice. This is his second scoreless game in a row and could be considered as his fourth dud. Marshall hasn't cracked 25 minutes in that span and his run looks like it's over. He was one of the better stories of the NBA, but his owners can probably make a move based on the solid sample size.

Tue Feb 25 201422:44Kendall Marshall gets 18 minutes vs. Indy
Kendall Marshall played just 18 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Pacers, finishing with zero points and four assists on 0-of-3 shooting.
Marshall had just two points and seven assists on Sunday and the wind appears to be out of his sails. Jordan Farmar played 21 minutes and didn't exactly kill it, but Marshall's once great fantasy value is officially on the ropes. This is three bad games in a row for Marshall and while he will probably bounce back at some point, the rise of Kent Bazemore and the return of Farmar are both bad news for Marshall. Give him another game to make sure this isn't a slump, and if he plays less than 20 minutes, it may be time to say goodbye.

Mon Feb 24 201400:26Kendall Marshall has a rare quiet night
Kendall Marshall scored just two points vs. the Nets on Sunday with three boards, seven assists, one steal and one block in 23 minutes.
Kent Bazemore handled the ball quite a bit tonight and it cut down in Marshall's chances to make plays. This was Marshall's second consecutive quiet game with a five-point, eight-dime game on Friday, but he was just too good up until that point for coach Mike D'Antoni to take the ball out of his hands for long. His owners shouldn't worry too much as long as they're aware he's not going to be a consistent double-double guy.

Fri Feb 21 201409:28Kupchak wants time to look at Marshall
GM Mitch Kupchak said one of the reasons he traded Steve Blake was to "free up some time in the backcourt to look at Jordan [Farmar] and give Kendall [Marshall] the time that he's earned."
Money was the main reason Kupchak pulled the deal, but these on-court reasons make a little sense. Marshall has been an eye-opening asset for the Lakers, averaging 10.7 points, 9.8 assists, 0.7 steals and shooting 47.6 percent from 3-point range in 26 appearances. The Lakers need to find out if he's for real. Marshall will be a fantasy stud whenever Steve Nash sits (which will be often) and a viable option for those in need of assists even when coming off the bench.

Thu Feb 20 201402:17Kendall Marshall hands out 16 assists in loss
Kendall Marshall turned in a stat-stuffing line against the Rockets on Wednesday with 20 points, 16 assists, three steals and four 3-pointers in 43 minutes.
It's a very impressive line for Marshall, especially against shut-down guard Patrick Beverley. Marshall's skills as a passer have been on full display as he leads the NBA in total assists in 2014. He obviously needs to be owned in all leagues.

Wed Feb 19 201422:37Marshall poised to play solid mins post-trade
Kendall Marshall is a beneficiary of the trade sending Steve Blake to the Warriors on Thursday.
Marshall could see challenges from Jordan Farmar and Steve Nash, and later on down the road from newly acquired Jordan Crawford, but he has impressed the Lakers coaching staff and the only durable point guard of the three incumbents. He was a must-own player before this news and needless to say his status improves with the trade.

Fri Feb 14 201401:41Kendall Marshall hands out 17 assists in loss
Kendall Marshall ran the offense for the Lakers on Thursday during a loss to the Thunder, handing out 17 assists with 14 points, seven boards, one steal and two 3-pointers in 44 minutes.
He couldn't score around the basket last season or in the D-League before coming up this season, but he has really done a solid job of finishing with some creativity. More importantly, Marshall's passing skills have really been on display and he's led the league in total assists in 2014 by a whopping 55. He has to be owned in all leagues until he cools off.

Thu Feb 13 201414:45Kendall Marshall starting at PG on Thursday
Kendall Marshall will be in the Lakers' starting lineup on Thursday, with Steve Nash (hamstring) unavailable.
Marshall had seven points, seven assists and three steals in 32 minutes on Tuesday and should play at least that minutes alongside Steve Blake vs. the Thunder. Blake is also playing through a painful elbow injury and Marshall is the safest bet for value in L.A.'s final game before the All-Star break. How rest-of-season outlook depends upon the health of Nash, Blake and Jordan Farmar (hamstring), so keep an eye on the Lakers' injury report.

Wed Feb 12 201402:07Kendall Marshall goes for 7 & 7 in loss
Kendall Marshall played 32 minutes and hit just 3-of-13 shots on Tuesday, finishing with seven points, three rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Steve Nash left tonight's game with his lingering leg injury, while it's still painful for Steve Blake to shoot due to his elbow injury. If Marshall was dropped in your league, pick him up, as Jordan Farmar is also still out with a calf injury.

Sun Feb 9 201418:09Kendall Marshall double-doubles in 37 minutes
Kendall Marshall saw some extra run against the Bulls on Sunday, playing 37 minutes with 13 points, two boards, 11 assists, one block and three 3-pointers on 5-of-6 shooting.
While it doesn't make sense, Marshall has come back as a brand new shooter in his second NBA season. Teams have been leaving him open for triples and he's made them pay with a league-leading 49.3 percent from that range. Steve Nash suffered another injury today and it's probably time to pick up Marshall in almost all leagues until the smoke clears.

Fri Feb 7 201422:15Marshall gets seven and 10 in just 20 minutes
Kendall Marshall logged 20 minutes in Friday's game, scoring seven points on 3-of-6 shooting with 10 assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.
Marshall only saw 20 minutes tonight with Jordan Farmar and Nick Young out but he still profiles as a guy that could step into minutes with all the injury risks playing ahead of him. Owners should try and exercise some patience with the former mid-to-late round value (8/9 cat), but keep in mind he needed nearly 40 minutes per game to accumulate that value.
