He is expected to start for the Blue Jays this week, in which case he would set a record by pitching for a 14th team.Jackson got an early start, making his major league debut on his 20th birthday, and his career has included some highs and lows. He's won a World Series, thrown a no-hitter and appeared in an All-Star game. NEW YORK (AP) — All-Star slugger Aaron Judge hurt his left oblique while taking a swing and was expected to head to the injured list as the already banged-up New York Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals 9-2 Saturday.Judge homered early, but hurt himself in the sixth inning while hitting a single. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The San Francisco Giants acquired outfielder Michael Reed from Minnesota on Saturday while sending outfielder John Andreoli and cash to the Twins.In addition, San Francisco dealt Matt Joyce to Atlanta for cash. The Giants, under new president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, have been searching all offseason for an impact outfielder.Joyce had reached agreement on a minor league deal Wednesday following his release by Cleveland. Yet the Giants were looking to balance their lineup and had an abundance of left-handed hitters. Joyce played just 83 games last season for Oakland while dealing with a lingering back injury, batting .208 with seven home runs and 15 RBIs.Reed has played in 22 major league games, with Milwaukee in 2015-16 and the Braves last year. He signed a minor league deal with the Giants on Wednesday after opening spring training with the Cleveland Indians.Adam Duvall is hitting only .171 in his bid to make the Braves' roster as a backup outfielder.Joyce hit .200 in a combined 14 games with Cleveland and San Francisco this spring. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Outfielder Matt Joyce has reached agreement on a minor league deal with the San Francisco Giants following his release by Cleveland.The Giants announced Wednesday the non-roster addition of Joyce, who is 34 and spent the past two seasons across the bay with Oakland. He played in just 83 games last season while dealing with a lingering back injury, batting .208 with seven home runs and 15 RBIs.The Indians signed Carlos Gonzalez to a minor league deal Tuesday, making Joyce expendable. CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians signed free agent outfielder Matt Joyce and reliever Alex Wilson to minor league contracts.The deals include invites to spring training camp, where the defending AL Central champions must address two glaring issues — outfield depth and their bullpen. Joyce and Wilson agreed to their deals on Friday, pending medical exams which were completed Saturday.Joyce spent the past two seasons with the Oakland Athletics. The 34-year-old hit 25 home runs and drove in 68 runs in 2017, but was limited to 83 games last season because of lower back problems. Joyce was an All-Star in 2011 for Tampa Bay.If he makes the Indians' 40-man roster, Joyce will make $1.25 million next season while in the majors and he can earn $500,000 in performance bonuses.The 32-year-old Wilson pitched in 59 games for Detroit last season, posting a 3.36 ERA. He limited right-handed hitter to a .191 average. It's an injury that is concerning to the AL Central champions, who have had an interesting offseason.One of baseball's top all-around players, Lindor recently got hurt while working out in Orlando, Florida. Joyce left in the fifth inning Saturday at Kansas City because of back stiffness and had missed the two games since.Outfielder Nick Martini was selected from Triple-A Nashville to take Joyce's spot on the 25-man roster.Joyce has struggled this season, hitting .196 in his 55 games with seven homers and 13 RBIs.Manager Bob Melvin said Joyce has been grinding, and that it's tough to get on a consistent roll when also dealing with some pain. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jorge Alfaro drove in two runs, Aaron Nola pitched seven innings of two-hit ball and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 Thursday, spoiling Clayton Kershaw's first start in almost a month.Hitting out of the No. 8 spot in the Phillies' lineup, Alfaro delivered an RBI single in the second inning against Kershaw and had an RBI double off reliever Josh Fields in the seventh.Nola (7-2) struck out seven, including five of the last seven batters he faced.
