Thu Aug 7 201416:20Johnson (groin) activated from 15-day disabled list Thursday
Johnson (groin) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Thursday, Alex Speier of WEEI.com reports.
Johnson was acquired by the Red Sox in a trade that sent Stephen Drew to the Yankees. He will take the roster spot of Mookie Betts, who was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday. Johnson's playing time may be limited with his new team, however, as the team already has Will Middlebrooks and Brock Holt at third base and Dustin Pedroia at second.
Sat Aug 2 201414:14Johnson (groin) could be activated this coming Thursday
Johnson (groin) could be activated this coming Thursday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
The plan is for Johnson, whom the Red Sox acquired Thursday in exchange for Stephen Drew, to play in minor league rehab games Tuesday and Wednesday. If all goes well, he could be activated as soon as Thursday, but there may not be a whole lot of playing time available with his new club, so Johnson may end up being DFA'd before long.

Johnson (groin) was traded to the Red Sox on Thursday in exchange for Stephen Drew, Alex Speier of WEEI.com reports.
The trade of Drew would seem to clear up a spot at shortstop for Xander Bogaerts while creating an opening at third base, but Johnson likely won't be counted on to fill that void. Instead, look for Brock Holt to slot in as the team's regular third baseman, while Johnson serves in a super-utility capacity for the Red Sox. Johnson, who was batting .219 with six homers for the Yankees, will be a free agent after the season and doesn't figure to get much of a legitimate look from the Red Sox during the final two months. He'll first be eligible to return from the disabled list on Aug. 7.

Yankees placed INF/OF Kelly Johnson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.
Johnson suffered the injury during Tuesday's win over the Rangers. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined, and even when Johnson returns he faces an uphill battle for playing time following the acquisition of Chase Headley.

Wed Jul 23 201400:14Kelly Johnson nursing groin injury
Kelly Johnson will undergo an MRI after leaving Tuesday's game against the Rangers with a groin injury.
It's been a bad 24 hours for Johnson, as the groin ailment was preceded by the Yankees acquiring Chase Headley to take over at third base. The Bombers should have an update on Johnson's condition on Wednesday.

Thu Apr 3 201416:49Johnson out of lineup Thursday
Kelly Johnson is not in the Yankees' starting lineup against the Astros on Thursday.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi is giving his lineup a different look with left-hander Brett Oberholtzer on the hill for Houston. Yangervis Solarte, who won a bench job over Eduardo Nunez during spring training, will start at third base and bat ninth.

Sun Jan 12 201420:47Kelly Johnson option to start at third base
According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, Kelly Johnson is a candidate to serve as the Yankees starting third baseman in 2014.
The veteran infielder could win the job outright in the spring, or more likely form half of a platoon where Johnson would be counted on to mash against right-handed pitching. The Yankees are content filling their void at the hot corner with in-house options, with Scott Sizemore and Eduardo Nunez also in the mix.

Fri Dec 6 201318:02Yankees announce signing of Kelly Johnson
Yankees signed 2B Kelly Johnson to a one-year, $3 million contract.
This move that was agreed upon earlier in the week looks much more interesting after Robinson Cano's departure. While the Yankees are surely still in the market for an upgrade at second base, Johnson becomes a very interesting fantasy commodity if he's staring at 500 at-bats in the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium.

Wed Dec 4 201311:50Johnson's deal with Yanks worth $3-4M
FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that Kelly Johnson's one-year deal with the Yankees could be worth between $3-4 million.
Joel Sherman of the New York post reported Tuesday night that the two sides were close on a one-year deal worth between $2.75-3 million, but the salary could actually be slightly higher. Johnson would give the Yankees some insurance for Robinson Cano, but ideally he would function as a super utility player.

Sat Jul 27 201316:00Kelly Johnson has RBI single vs. Yankees
Kelly Johnson delivered an RBI single in Saturday's win over the Yankees.
His sixth-inning single off Ivan Nova was the only offense that Chris Archer would need. After struggling through June, Johnson is hitting .327 (15-for-49) with four home runs, two doubles, and eight RBI in 15 games this month. The 31-year-old is notoriously streaky, so enjoy it while it lasts in fantasy leagues.
