LHP Tony Cingrani continued to struggle as he allowed homers to SS Didi Gregorius and 3B Todd Frazier in the seventh inning. He has allowed at least one earned run in his last five appearances (11 earned runs, 5 1/3 innings). He also allowed at least one homer for the fourth straight outing and since returning from a strained right oblique June 6, Cingrani has posted a 6.63 ERA in 19 outings.

LHP Tony Cingrani was returned from a rehabilitation assignment and reinstated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday. He had been out since April 21 with a strained right oblique. "We're not going to immediately plug him into a situation where he has to get the biggest out," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "We'd like to give him a softer landing." Tuesday's game, a 13-1 Reds win over the Cardinals, was the perfect scenario, and Cingrani allowed a hit and a walk in one scoreless inning.

LHP Tony Cingrani (right oblique strain) threw around 30 pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday. He has a 1.93 ERA in five appearances.

LHP Tony Cingrani threw off the mound for the first time since going on the 10-day disabled list April 21 with a trained oblique. He threw 15 pitches and will throw again Friday. "The ball was coming out of his hand good," said Reds manager Bryan Price. Cingrani has allowed just one earned run in 4 2/3 innings during his five appearances. The only other left-hander in the Reds' bullpen is Wandy Peralta, so having Cingrani back gives Price some flexibility. "Feeling good. Taking it day-by-day," Cingrani said. "I don't know when I'm doing my next one. I just show up and do what they tell me to do."

LHP Tony Cingrani has resumed throwing, but he's not ready to pitch off the mound yet. He's been on the disabled list since April 21 with a strained right oblique. "We really want to focus on making sure the soreness is gone," manager Bryan Price said. "It's a challenging injury to deal with. The last thing we want to do is have it come back."

LHP Tony Cingrani hasn't started throwing yet, but he expects to this week. Cingrani has been on the disabled list since April 21 because of oblique soreness. "He's not recreating any soreness currently," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "I think we thought there was a chance he could initiate his throwing program late this past week. That didn't happen, but I would anticipate that would be initiated relatively soon on the front end of this homestand." Cingrani has allowed one earned run in 4 2/3 innings with a walk and five strikeouts over five appearances.

LHP Tony Cingrani reported "zero pain" as he continues rehabbing an oblique injury, manager Bryan Price said Tuesday. Cingrani was placed on the 10-day disabled list after suffering the injury Thursday and did not travel with the team to Milwaukee. He's eligible to return to action Friday.

LHP Tony Cingrani was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Thursday night with oblique soreness. He suffered the injury on his final pitch of a scoreless inning on Tuesday. He has a 1.93 ERA in five appearances this season. "We're hoping he'll be ready when the 10 days are up or close to it," said Reds manager Bryan Price on Friday. "I talked to Tony yesterday and, if it's just the 10 days, he'll still probably need at least one rehab outing, just to be sure."

LHP Tony Cingrani suffered the eighth blown save for the Reds this season in 11 chances when he allowed the tie-breaking run in the ninth inning of a 5-4 loss to the Pirates. "Tony's been throwing the ball really well, especially lately, but balls that are up in the zone are getting hit," said manager Bryan Price. "I've never seen anything like this. It's like we play the same game every day -- win by a run or lose by a run." Cingrani allowed a run and one hit with a strikeout in one inning of work.

Cingrani was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
With rosters expanded, Cingrani will return to the big league club for the first time since late-July. The 26-year-old holds a 4.85 ERA across 26.0 innings for the Reds on the season, and he'll simply add depth to the bullpen down the stretch.

Cingrani (neck) was activated from the DL at Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
A neck issue kept Cingrani out for several weeks, but he's set to return to the hill Tuesday, starting in place of Robert Stephenson (forearm). Cingrani has enjoyed a good deal of success with Louisville this season (1.59 ERA), but he's struggled with the big club and it's uncertain what role he'll take on in September.

Cingrani pitched 2.2 innings and allowed six hits and five earned runs in the game. He struck out three batters and walked two. He left with a no-decision.

Cingrani (shoulder) was activated from the DL and will start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
The 26-year-old lefty will make his first appearance since June 13 and his first start of the season for the big club, after battling back from a shoulder strain. Cingrani tossed 93 pitches over five scoreless innings in his final rehab start with Triple-A Louisville, and worked 14 scoreless frames overall while on his rehab assignment with an 18:6 K:BB. While the Reds have not announced plans for Cingrani beyond Wednesday, it seems entirely possible he could remain in the rotation if Johnny Cueto and/or Mike Leake are moved.

The Reds announced that Cingrani (shoulder) officially will return from the DL Wednesday to start the second game of their doubleheader against the Cubs.
It'll be interesting to see how often he uses his secondary pitches - that's always been the knock against him at the big league level. He faces a Cubs lineup that tends to strike out frequently, though he might be on a pitch-count in his first start back.

Reds manager Bryan Price acknowledged that Cingrani (shoulder) is a candidate to start one game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cubs, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Prior to Cingrani's rehab outing with Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Price said the lefty will be "under consideration" if all goes well. It couldn't have gone much better, as Cingrani tossed five shutout innings with just four hits allowed and a 6:1 K:BB on 93 pitches (59 strikes).

Cingrani (shoulder) will start again for Triple-A Louisville on Friday.
The process of getting stretched back out into a starter has been going smoothly so far for Cingrani, as he's tossed seven shutout innings with just two hits allowed and a 9:4 K:BB in his two rehab starts for Louisville. He only threw 65 pitches in his outing Sunday, but it's reasonable to think Cingrani could be an option to start one game of the Reds' July 22 doubleheader against the Cubs if all goes well.
