Schreve was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday and was immediately called upon out of the bullpen by the Braves in their 7-0 loss to the Phillies. He tossed a scoreless inning in the outing, striking out two batters.
Schreve will provide the Braves with another lefty option out of the bullpen in September and already paid dividends Monday, striking out slugger Ryan Howard when the outcome was still in question. He was a strikeout machine in the minors this season, whiffing 87 batters over 64 innings between Double-A Mississippi and Gwinnett.

Shreve has officially been optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Shreve has impressed for the Braves after coming up from Double-A Mississippi after the break, but he'll head back to the minors given the addition of James Russell to Atlanta's bullpen.

The Braves are expected to optioned Shreve back to the minors, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Shreve has more than held his own since his promotion from Double-A Mississippi after the All-Star break, allowing one run while striking out seven in five innings, but the Braves acquired James Russell from the Cubs on Thursday and it seems they are content with one lefty out of the bullpen for the time being. It would make sense if the team sent Shreve to Triple-A Gwinnett rather than back to Mississippi.
