Fri Mar 30 2012 | 19:46 | Howard |
Josh Howard (knee surgery) has been riding a stationary bike and working on hip exercises, as he targets a return to action before the end of the regular season. |
Howard says that a worst-case scenario would have him ready for the postseason, and he is going to be traveling with the team on the road. We're not ready to rule out a return before the end of the year, but we're also not ready to take his rosy outlook at face value, either. Gordon Hayward's owners should feel relatively secure, here. |

Sat Mar 24 2012 | 16:21 | Josh Howard (knee) might return this season |
Josh Howard recently had surgery on his left knee, but he hopes to return before the end of the season. |
The surgery repaired a small tear in Howard's cartilage and he's expected to begin rehabbing soon, with an update on his status coming in "two to three weeks." His presence would be huge for Utah if they make the playoffs, but he's done for fantasy purposes. |

Wed Mar 21 2012 | 11:36 | Josh Howard likely to have surgery Wednesday |
Josh Howard (knee) will "likely" undergo surgery on Wednesday after receiving a second opinion. |
Howard thinks he could start riding a stationary bike about a week after surgery, and could have a chance at returning before the end of the regular season. He's "definitely" shooting to be back by the playoffs if the Jazz make it, but fantasy owners can drop him with a cloud of uncertainty hanging overhead. |

Josh Howard (knee) will get a second opinion before undergoing season-ending surgery. |
Howard was upbeat about his latest injury, but even if he does have surgery, he only expects to be sidelined for four-to-six weeks. If Utah makes the postseason, it's conceivable that he could return. However, he belongs on waiver wires for fantasy owners the rest of the way. |

Tue Mar 20 2012 | 17:33 | Josh Howard needs knee surgery, done for year |
Josh Howard needs left knee surgery and is out for the season. |
The left knee is the same one that Howard tore the ACL in back in 2010. A Monday MRI revealed a chip in the cartilage and surgery was deemed necessary. Howard's first season in Utah ends with averages of 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists, but he had established himself as the clear starting small forward over the last month. Gordon Hayward and C.J. Miles are set for a bump in minutes the rest of the way. |

Sat Mar 17 2012 | 23:55 | Josh Howard awful again on Saturday |
Josh Howard only played 24 minutes in Saturday's overtime victory, scoring four points on 2-of-6 shooting with one rebound. |
Howard is averaging just 2.0 rebounds over his past six games, his shot has gone missing, and he doesn't belong on fantasy rosters unless he turns things around. Given his Achilles issues and the health of his cranky knees, we're not optimistic. |

Tue Mar 13 2012 | 13:15 | Josh Howard doesn't practice on Tuesday |
Josh Howard (Achilles) did not practice on Tuesday but is probable for Wednesday's game against the Suns. |
Howard has a long history of injuries so it shouldn't be a surprise that he's a little bit sore in a lockout-shortened season. The fact that he's considered probable indicates the injury is not of the serious variety. |

Tue Mar 13 2012 | 02:18 | Howard continues to struggle on Monday |
Josh Howard continued to struggle on Monday against the Pistons, scoring nine points on 4-of-8 shooting (including a three) with one rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 25 minutes. |
We wouldn't be surprised to hear about an injury soon, which is the norm, but Howard has averaged just 8.7 points over his last three games and practically nothing else. Given his injury risk owners should have no qualms over dropping him. |

Josh Howard made his ninth consecutive start on Friday night, but failed to knock down a field goal on his way to two points. |
Howard is locked into a starting role for now, and will be better than this on most nights. Don't give up on him due to this bad performance. |

Josh Howard played 31 minutes Wednesday night despite a sinus infection. |
Howard didn't appear limited despite missing Tuesday's practice. He's now started eight straight games and is averaging 12.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals in that role. |

Wed Mar 7 2012 | 11:59 | Josh Howard practices, will start Wednesday |
Josh Howard (sinus infection) practiced and will start on Wednesday. |
No surprise here. Howard was expected to play despite the illness and Tyrone Corbin said he'll remain a starter for the "foreseeable future." Owners looking for a free agent pickup off the waiver wire could certainly do worse, but Howard's lack of peripheral production limits his upside. |

Wed Mar 7 2012 | 07:07 | Josh Howard to remain starter going forward |
Tyrone Corbin said that he'll keep the same starting wings for the "foreseeable future." |
That means Howard is locked into a starting role alongside Raja Bell with Gordon Hayward acting as the sixth man. In 10 games as a starter this season, Howard is averaging 12.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.9 steals on 46.6 percent shooting. |

Josh Howard (sinus infection) won't practice on Tuesday. |
Howard remained in the starting lineup on Monday despite Raja Bell (adductor) returning. He had 14 points, five rebounds and two steals, but his health is always an issue. Despite missing practice, Howard is fully expected to play on Wednesday against the Bobcats. |

Mon Mar 5 2012 | 22:49 | Howard scores 14 points in start vs. CLE |
Josh Howard started with Raja Bell (adductor) back in the lineup on Monday, scoring 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting with five rebounds, one assist, and two steals in 26 minutes. |
The decision to move Gordon Hayward to the second unit might be good news for both Hayward and Howard, so owners can feel relatively good that Howard's production won't be an issue going forward. His health, on the other hand, is well-documented here and a total question mark. |

Josh Howard started again on Friday against the Heat, scoring 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting with nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block in 40 minutes. |
As long as Howard is starting he's worth owning in 12-team formats, as long as owners are clear that his next injury is always one game away. |

Josh Howard started again and had 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal on 6-of-12 shooting in Wednesday's easy win over the Rockets. |
Howard is worth a pickup in most leagues now that he's starting, but his next injury is always just around the corner. |

Wed Feb 29 2012 | 01:01 | Josh Howard scores 15 in another start |
Josh Howard started again Tuesday and hit 7-of-12 shots and a 3-pointer on his way to 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in a loss to the Kings. |
Howard is finally healthy and starting, and looks like a great add in most leagues. He'll likely be hurt again at some point, but picking him up and riding him until he goes down is a sound game plan. |

Thu Feb 23 2012 | 17:22 | Jazz may make Josh Howard a full-time starter |
Coach Tyrone Corbin said he'll spend the All-Star break considering whether to permanently move Josh Howard into the starting lineup. |
Raja Bell (abductor, day-to-day) would head to the bench and Gordon Hayward would start at shooting guard if the move is made. Howard has started five games on the year, averaging 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.6 3-pointers in that role. It's certainly a situation to monitor. |

Thu Feb 23 2012 | 01:22 | Josh Howard scores season-high 19 in loss |
Josh Howard started again for Raja Bell (strained adductor) and scored a season-high 19 points to go along with six rebounds, a steal and a 3-pointer on 8-of-15 shooting in Wednesday's tough loss to the Wolves. |
Howard might have won the starting job with tonight's performance, and is finally healthy. His next injury could be just around the corner, but if he does continue to start, he'll be worth a pickup in most leagues. |
